Haha! How typical. You're jealous of our money and success..... ehhm.... Actually, watch out for South Melbourne on Sunday - we're sitting 2nd, a point off the top and are away to some lowly club.

WESTERN PREMIER

Just reading that Swan have only won 6 times in 3 years at home. They meet division one champs on Saturday. Will Armdale be good enough to take the win?

Reading that Athena have got problems at the back with a young defence this season. W Knights could be worth a look as their reigning champs as supposedly the most experiencedd team in the division. Need to get some stats and info.

Theres no need to be jealous of me getting all the best divisions Christain. Im sure we'll whet your appetite enough over the next couple of months Christain for you to give up all that other stuff and Assie Out like a good un.

Update from Joondalup manager Geordie-

Quote:
Mate we have always been a developing club, we are the youngest in the Premier League.

1991 we were in the worst amateur league in the state. Got admitted to the old 3rd division in 1995 won promotion to the 2nd division then I brought a player called ted 'The Tin Man' McMinn over he basically won us the 2nd division championship. 1 st season in the Premier League finished 7th I think, next season won the equivelent to the FA Cup here. 1999 won the premiership. We have always hard a hard battling side that never gives in (except Saturday) but it was hard when we had 5 first team regulars missing.

Cockburn have been our bogey side over the seasons but I think we will do them this week as the lads who missed out have been chomping at the bit. training last night was intense and not for the feint hearted with tackles flying in all over. You guessed it we are basically a UK type side as is Sorrento, I will try and give you an honest run down of the clubs if you want.

Every Wednesday we have a radio show it starts 7.30pm you can listen live on the web, the link is below.

http://www.6pr.com.au/
Click on this then in the top left hand corner is 'Listen Live" 7.30pm Perth time today.
Let me know if you want a run down on the other teams in the Premier League

Cheers
Geordie
I'll be tuning in Geordie. Is it a talk show Geordie? I could maybe phone up and ask a few questions in my naivety of it all. I'll get my selections together and let you have a look.

I dunno about about Joondalup as i'm a fan now and i have to watch my heart ruling my head. Need to read up for why i fancied Cockburn in the first place knowing some of the things i know now. Joondalup have been playing well. Oh Geordie mentioned earlier that 3 out them 4 players that were sent off and missed the suprise defeat by Stirling have been approved to be back on Saturday.

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

WESTERN DIVISION ONE

I was asking our friends in West Australia about Mandurah's chances. Here's some pm's i got-

Quote:
Had a wee look at the Daily Punt, good stuff..

I play down at Rockingham and recently played with Stirling until the start of the year. We are undefeated so far this year and have had major injuries since the start of the season but we have a couple of key players back this week and I think we will be hard to beat away at Kingsway..

Keep an eye on Bassendean they got relegated last year and have recently changed manager 2 weeks ago so I think their form will pick up as they only lost 2 players from the team last year..

Apart from that Balcatta and Wanneroo are the top 2 sides. Mandurah, Rockingham and Bassendean to round out the Top 5 sides.

South West Phoenix are usually a tough side when playing at home..
I wont mention the names incase they dont wanna be mentioned. More Div 1 thoughts here-

Quote:
you'd have to say Wanneroo @1.80 away to Queens Park is very very good value... no such thing as a certainty in betting but this one would have to be pretty close i think...

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

Afternoon lads, and congrats on the site.

Komp - I stumbled across that Western Australian forum too. What a mine of information to be had there.

Wanneroo...now I'm keen on that. 1.90

I was keen on Balcatta, but having just seen that Bassendean have a new manager I may give that a swerve.

Perth bankers too, and as mentioned on the WA forum Adelaide Olympic are nailed on for any acca lovers

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

Good to see you Matty and thanks. I was suprised to see you to say the least. I thought fcuk i bet they think this is set up. I was gonna tell MY pals the background to it all

Well i'm just sticking to my 2 divisions this summer Matty but good luck and your welcome to drop by for some aussie talk sport.

I posted this in Bayswaters forum so sorry if it sounds like i aint talking to you all. I changed some but not all it.

Athena v Knights
Im interested in the away here due to Knights being considered one of the more experienced teams and with a bit of expection in them pre-season. They were a bit lucky at home last week v Swans which is a worry as Swans aint much kop but they should have too much for an atheanian team with a poor home record. Possibly on the away here.

Inglewood v Stirling
Another team with high expectations for the season and with the meanest defence in the league up against a Stirling side who got their first win of the season v a Joondalup side depeleted with suspensions. I dont know much but i know i love you. Not htat aint right. I dont know much but i think Inglewood look a certainty surely?

Joondalup v Cockburn - this is a bummer of a tie for me. Initially i was interested in Cockburn but after reading into some of Joondalup's results and with players back they could as someone has said be just about about ready for a win. Ive adopted Joondalup as my new team. They aint made up of rapists, priests and peodophiles are they? Geordie never said. Ah well i like their spirit and Geordies a good man from what ive seen and i wish him the best of luck for the season and he can have my supposrt for what its worth. I love the way that you are all players and managers etc. Is this true?

Aye i think im gonna not bet the home due to my initial feeling on the away but i want the home to come in and that could be enough for me not to back it. I would rather Geordie says to me 'see you should have backed us' rather than me putting money on and him saying 'bloody referees after getting 5 sent off this week' :p

Good luck to Joondalup this Weekend. No Bet.

Perth v Freemantle - Perth like the Chelski of Western soccer against Freefallmantle. This just has to be an home enough said surely? No point me looking more into this one is there?

Sorrento v Bayswater - Some might describe Bayswater as great forum shite team but i wont as i know nothing. I would be interested in your views on your teams chances on Saturday as im kinda liking the big strong long ball merchants for a win abeit not a great price. I did read something somewhere that made me initially think you guys (Bayswater) maybe were worth a little value on Saturday. aye thats it, do Sorrento play the same tactics athome as they do away? I was just thinking that maybe playing away suits their style better where they can hit on the break. I dont want to back Sorrento as i dont like teams that revert to hoofing the ball but i think they could just have too much power Bayswater have a not bad midfield mind.

Swan v Armadale - i was initially intereseted (still could be) on the away in this due to Swan's horrific home record. Was told though about Armdale just coming up this season and there being a bit of a step up in class to Premier League. They seem to have started brightly enough but the above and the fact that Swans gave Kings a game of it last week makes me worried. Swans are at home though this time.

In the first im interested Rockingham, Mandurah & Wanneroo but i'll need to have a look. Anyone see Stirling beating Morley?

I could have an odds on treble which i dont like backing in-

Perth, Inglewood, Sorrento @ 2/1

and also Kings, Rockingham, Mandurah and Wanneroo in any 3 from 4 selections (4 trebles)

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

Komp has done some excellent research for the Western Australian leagues, and I stumbled across a superb forum covering the Victorian State Leagues. I've just made my first post there

edit: link above doesn't seem to work. This is the forum anyway

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

Nice one Matty and thanks for sharing. Its good to see you. I'll be getting back into the Western Divs tonight. I dont feel like branching out too much and think i'll just stick to the 2 leagues. I will be interested in any bets though you like each week Matty on the other divisions. Mickeypaul was looking into the Vicky leagues but i dont know how far he's got. Should be fun this friday night though Matty with our first (well mine) real Aussie coupon on

Aye its gonna be ok this summer. someone said to me there were about 6 consistantly good or bad teams in each div and not to get too much involved in the rest as they could be a lottery. I suppose its way below even the Scottish division 3. I forget their attendances i did ask though. Its getting me all itchy to get looking again.

Good luck Matty and cheers Kegman. Look in with interest and hopefully we might get a wee turn out the aussie leagues this summer.

Re: Australian Football - 28th May 2005

I'd be surprised if any of the games at this level will be on the net. The A-League will I am sure be on there somewhere, but these games are a very low standard.

Komp - I'll certainly be around for this Aussie action this summer. Really can't wait - not sure why

I did my first coupon of the summer in Laddies today.
