Re: French football 9-12 March

Metz - Niort
Metz -1 at 1.78 at PointBet
Kickoff:09.03.2007 - 20:00

Top of the table Metz is expecting Niort today. Metz are definitely promotion material and today's win will definitely put them one big step forward to claiming the promotion. As a matter of fact, they are 2 points ahead of the second placed team, and Metz has one match more to play (against Libourne). Metz still hasnt lost at home and i dont think that such thing can happen today. Niort are poor away from home and they have only won 7 points so far, losing 11 (!) games out from 14. Metz is capable of demolishing opponents (against Dijon 5 - 0, against Strasbourg 4 - 1...) and i really think that they can cover the handicap tonight.

Good Luck...

Re: French football 9-12 March

Wouldn't argue with any of that, Darebt, although this league throws up too many surprises in those kind of games for my liking. Good luck though.

Two for me tonight.

Istres (18th) are on a decent run at home, with just 1 defeat in their last 6, and they've won their last 2 homes, against Chateauroux and Tours. Creteil are one point and one place behind them, and with a very poor 0-4-9 away record. Creteil are without Terrier, Ribault, Sales (none have made more than 5 starts), information on Istres is difficult to find, as their website is pretty crap.

Given the lack of much team news from Istres, not one for big stakes, but I think Istres' home form should be enough to see them through this one.

Istres v Creteil @ 2.02 (minus commission) 3pts

May be slightly biased in this, as Guingamp were my team in France, but I think they could get something from their game at Caen tonight. They're on a run of 3 straight wins now, which isn't bad seeing as prior to that they'd only won 3 games out of 24 all season. They've now lost just 2 of their last 11.

Caen are set to again be without Thiam and Mazure, who also missed Monday's 3-2 win over Tours. Guingamp are without a few players again, but they have been just about all season. Suarez has missed near enough the whole season, while Eduardo will also be out, but he's missed the last few games anyway. They'll also be without Legueun.

Still, Caen are a very strong home side, the strongest in the division with 11 wins and 3 draws from their 14 games, and just 5 goals conceded.
Rather than backing Guingamp to get a result here, I think a better bet may be the overs. Maybe not particularly logical with Caen having conceded just 5 goals at home all season, and Guingamp's 14 away games producing just 22 goals altogether. However, the arrival of Meslin from Bastia has given Guingamp a real boost up front, he's scored 3 in 4 games, and even if they can't get a result here at Caen, I certainly think they stand a decent chance of scoring. Caen are the top scorers in the division with 49 goals, so obviously you'd have to fancy their chances of scoring, probably more than once, not least because Guingamp have also conceded 2 or more goals in each of their last 3 away games.

Caen v Guingamp over 2.5 goals @ 2.27 (minus commission) 3pts

Re: French football 9-12 March

Hi everyone.

This is my first post, but I've been followin you guys for quite some time now

Today... I'd take Libourne v Tours @ 1.75 stakes 7/10, relegation battle, Tours is shite and almost relegated, hosts have rested some players.

Also, I like prospect of Bastia beating Amiens @2.05 stakes 5/10, both teams in good form, but Amiens will miss 4 players. Bastia was great at home in last couple of years, but good form has come a bit late in this season.

Also I would consider takin Istres to beat Creteil.

I'm the owner of sigurica.com , the most popular serbian ...betting site. Check it out.

Cheers

PS. My nick was supposed to be pampered degenerate, so don't get carried away.

Re: French football 9-12 March

Hi Degenerate, welcome to TDP

Libourne's price a little bit short for my liking, they're the 2nd worst home team in the league, 4-4-4. Admittedly Tours are terrible away too, mind you.

Wouldn't necessarily argue with Bastia, although Amiens' recent form (4 wins and a draw in their last 5) is enough to put me off there.

Good luck with those though

Re: French football 9-12 March

Metz - Niort over 2.5
Not to much to add after darebt post. Metz should be favorites here, but i wouldn't be surprised if Niort managed to score a goal. Metz has 7 of 13 games at home over this year, while Niort has 7 of 14 games over on their travels.
Been some goals in the last H2H:
Sep 29, 2006 Ligue 2 Niort - Metz 1 - 1
Feb 08, 2003 Ligue 2 Metz - Niort 2 - 1
Sep 15, 2002 Ligue 2 Niort - Metz 2 - 0

Metz should win, but idont trust them, so i try some on over. If you want to cover CS 1-1 @ 8.00 might be a good choice.
Nordicbet offers 2.20 for over 2.5.

Libourne - Tours
Two teams that often play games with some goals in. Libourne has 7 of 13 games at home over 2.5. Tours has over in 10 of 14 awaygames.
H2H
2006-09-29 Tours - Libourne Saint-Seurin 1 - 2
2006-03-11 Tours - Libourne Saint-Seurin 2 - 0 (National)
2005-09-17 Libourne Saint-Seurin - Tours 2 - 0 (National)

According to Tours homesite, they want to win today, and therefore need to attack. But they normally conceededs at least 1 goal, so over looks like a good bet here too.
Expekt offers 2.20 on over.

Strasbourg with some missings in their defence, so Ajaccio should have a good chance to score today. Think the odds on HW is low, and 8 of last 10 games between these two has ended in a draw. Ajaccio +0,5AH @ 2.35 or CS 1-1 could be good bets. Have to think a little more...

Re: French football 9-12 March

Just got in now and seen these results. Nice call on Ajaccio +0.5, E_S Metz 0 v 0 Niort That's why I hate short-priced favourites in this league. Some day soon I'll look into what kind of return you'd have got this season laying all teams shorter than 1.5, I'm sure you'd be in profit this season.

Typically, the bet that I talk myself out of (Guingamp to get something away to Caen) is the one that comes in, while the 2 bets I actually do take lose

NANTES vs NANCY ..... 1 ..... 2.34 ..... stake 2

NANTES needs the win today to make the previous away win against SOCAUX in positive way. No serries absenties today. The earlier year the hosts take the game with win 3-0. NANCY has a insurance 8 points from the relagation zone and it`s safe for now. NANTES give the next match away against MONACO and need the points much more today.

Re: French football 9-12 March

Lyon v Marseille
Gérard Houllier will be hoping for a positive response from his Lyon team following their 2-0 mid-week loss to Roma in the UEFA Champions League while Marseille are desperately searching for the points which would put them back in contention near the top of the league.

Marseille travel north to champions Lyon on Sunday evening in a match which promises much in the way of excitement. For the league leaders, the disappointment of their elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Roma on Tuesday will need to be addressed. Even though they hold a 13 point advantage over Lens at the top of the table, there are still 11 more league games to be played until the end of the season.

Lyon also have a League Cup Final against Bordeaux at the Stade de France on March 31 to look forward to and so with two trophies still up for grabs, Gérard Houllier will not have much trouble motivating his team.

Injury-wise, Houllier will have a full squad at his disposal on Sunday and will welcome back Jérémy Toulalan who missed the mid-week defeat due to suspension.

Marseille, however, do have some injury problems, namely defender Julien Rodriguez who is set to miss at least two weeks of football after injuring his thigh last weekend. Franck Ribéry is still missing as is Wilson Oruma.

Without a win in their last six league games, and a goal in their last four, Marseille have hit a bad patch and injuries to important players have not come at a good time. However, such is the state of play in the table, that OM's bad run could be instantly turned good with a win. The three points won could elevate them up to fifth, only one point off third.

Looking back at past league fixtures between the two, Lyon hold a clear advantage, having lost just once in 17 years to Marseille at the Stade Gerland.
