Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Howdo Gomesh. How's that brother of your getting on with his tips?
from eurosport
Inter travel to Tuscany for an afternoon kick off against Livorno eager to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
"Eventually you begin to feel the pressure, if only subconsciously," Mancini told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "When you play a match every three days or so, you inevitably lose some of your sparkle.
"The important thing for me was not the record but the points," he added. "The gap between ourselves and Roma has stayed the same. Now we just need to focus on winning again at Livorno."
A major worry for Mancini for the trip to Livorno is the fitness of his striker Adriano, who hobbled off the Stadio Fruili pitch on Wednesday clutching his thigh. The Brazilian ace has managed to rediscover a degree of form of late, and his services will be sorely missed, particularly as both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hernan Crespo are likely to be rested with one eye on the Nerazzurri's crucial Champions League clash with Valencia in Spain next week.
Apart from the striking trio, midfielders Patrick Vieira and Esteban Cambiasso will also sit out the trip to Stadio Armando Picchi, but such is the strength in depth of Mancini's squad, he can call on players of the quality of Olivier Dacourt, Maxwell, Julio Cruz and Alvaro Recoba to deputise.
Meanwhile, kicking off at the same time on Saturday, second-placed Roma travel to struggling Ascoli also looking to get back to winning ways after a 2-2 draw against Chievo on Wednesday.
A brace from Francesco Totti hauled his side back into the game after the Giallorossi had fallen two behind in the first half at the Stadio Bentegodi, but even their talisman's heroic performance could not inspire his team to a win that would have cut Inter's lead at the top to 12 points.
The champions' lead remains 14 points, and Roma will expect to claim all three in Ascoli - who have managed just two wins all season long - even without their midfield pairing of Mancini and Daniele De Rossi.
In the late game on Saturday night, Milan continue their stuttering charge for a Champions League spot with a home game against Chievo. Milan, like Inter and Roma, were guilty of failing to capitalise on results going their way elsewhere on Wednesday, when they were held to a goalless draw by Palermo.
The Rossoneri will be hot favourites to bag all three points at the San Siro though, with Brazilian striker Ronaldo back in the starting line-up to bolster Carlo Ancelotti's misfiring strike force.
Third-placed Palermo travel across Sicily to face Messina in a derby that has potential to derail the Rosanero's bid for a Champions League place. Francesco Guidolin's side are clinging to third place, but with Lazio hot on their trail and Empoli not far behind them, the race for those golden top four places is getting interesting.
Lazio will be pushed all the way when they host Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, while Empoli will be hoping to continue their remarkable form this season when they take on Udinese.
Elsewhere, Fiorentina welcome Torino, whose new manager Gianni De Biasi got off to a great start in his new job with a midweek win over Cagliari, to Tuscany, while Catania play Siena at 'home' in Rimini.
Rounding up the weekend's action, Parma meet Reggina and Atalanta head to Sardinia, where they play Cagliari .

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Serie A Preview: Milan-Chievo
This match pits two clubs with very different aims against each other.
Quote:
When: Saturday March 3, 20:30 (CET)
Where: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy
BACKGROUND
Despite the scoreless draw away to Palermo on Wednesday, Milan are still quite confident of being able to obtain one of the Champions League qualification, which would come with a fourth place or better finish.
In the aforementioned match, they dominated the play in the first half, and if not for the missed penalty by Kakà inside of ten minutes, they most likely would have won the full allotment of points. Probably because of the penalty miss, Kakà was like a demon possessed, and took on every defender in sight, with a fair amount of success, highlighted by his nutmeg of a Palermo defender.
The front line and midfield had to make up for the lack of defensive options, as Milan were without eight defenders listed on the club roster. In fact, they fielded defensive midfielder Cristian Brocchi as a makeshift right fullback. Still, they were able to keep a talented Palermo frontline from scoring.
Chievo Verona are also facing the prospect of achieving the goal they currently have set for themselves, which is to avoid relegation. A mere three points separate the Flying Donkeys from the drop zone, and they must continue the good run of form they have recently experienced.
A 3-0 steamrolling of Torino and the 2-2 draw against Roma (both at home) can give them confidence in taking their show on the road and earning some points.
CURRENT FORM
Milan (W W D, 37 points, 6th place in Serie A)
The Rossoneri are on a run of form right now that can only be bested by their city rivals, Inter Milan, who up until Wednesday had won seventeen straight matches. Milan have not lost since November, and they will again field a 4-4-1-1 formation because of the lack of defensive cover.
Chievo (D W D, 23 points, 15th place in Serie A)
The Gialloblu have begun to put together some good results, and must continue to do so in order to avoid the drop. As they are one of the few sides near the bottom of the table who could be described as “to good to go down”, they must now prove it.
TEAM NEWS
Milan have a who’s who list of Serie A players currently out of the lineup. Names such as Paolo Maldini, Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta, Marcos Cafu, and Alessandro Costacurta will be watching from the stands. They are joined by Serginho, Kakhaber Kaladze, and possibly Massimo Ambrosini.
Chievo have major absences, too. Victor Obinna and Federico Cossato are missing from the frontline, while midfielders Luciano and Cesar Prates, along with goalkeeper Vincenzo Sicignano, join them on the training table. The biggest absentees, however, are the suspended duo of Erjon Bogdani and Fabio Moro.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ronaldo (Milan) – Because he is cup-tied and cannot be used in the Champions League, he will definitely play from the start in this match, and with the support of Kakà, should be able to continue to find the form which earned him the nickname ‘Il Fenomeno’.
Sergio Pellissier (Chievo) – This tiny Italian with a French name always performs well against Milan, and has terrorized their defense in recent seasons with his ability to make timely runs. In being able to play versus a thin backline for Milan, he should get several good scoring chances.
POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s
Milan (4-4-1-1): Dida; Oddo, Simic, Bonera, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Brocchi, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kakà; Ronaldo
Chievo (4-3-1-2): Squizzi; Malago, Mandelli, D’Anna, Lanna; Sammarco, Italiano, Brighi; Semioli; Pellissier, Cozzolino
PREDICTION
This is sure to be an affair full of quality midfield play and good runs by the strikers. In saying that, I don’t believe the goals will flow, and a low scoreline is to be expected.
Milan 1-0 Chievo

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Serie A Preview: Ascoli-RomaAscoli (20th Serie A, 15 points) vs Roma (2nd Serie A, 53 points)
When: Saturday, 3rd March, kick-off 1500 local (CET)
Where: Del Duca Stadium, Ascoli
Quote:
Looking for an away win Roma haven’t won an away game since their 2-1 victory in Turin last December 20th. They’re quite sceptical about the possibility to win the title, even though Inter have just dropped a couple of points, but they need to win just to keep Palermo at bay.
It will not be that easy, as most of the team is already focused on the Lyon game.
Spalletti has to find the way to motivate the team. Curiously enough after De Rossi, a key player for the Giallorossi midfield, had admitted he was tired, he twisted his ankle and could be out of the Ascoli clash.
Ascoli want to show their pride
The Bianconeri are in deep trouble, and frankly it looks quite difficult they could play Serie A football next season. As they haven’t got anything to lose in a match against a top flight team like Roma, they might try to get a result.
Unfortunately Sonetti has to come to terms with a plethora of injuries. The veteran coach just hopes young guns like Paolucci and Boudianski can show their talent and give Ascoli supporters a rare glimpse of joy.
FORM GUIDE
Ascoli
Ascoli - Parma 0 - 0 28/02/2007 SERIE A
Livorno - Ascoli 0 - 0 25/02/2007 SERIE A
Ascoli - Udinese 2 - 2 18/02/2007 SERIE A
Sampdoria - Ascoli 2 - 0 11/02/2007 SERIE A
Messina - Ascoli 1 - 2 28/01/2007 SERIE A
Ascoli - Atalanta 1 - 3 21/01/2007 SERIE A
Roma
Chievo - Roma 2 - 2 28/02/2007 SERIE A
Roma - Reggina 3 - 0 25/02/2007 SERIE A
Roma - Lyon 0 - 0 21/02/2007 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Empoli - Roma 1 - 0 17/02/2007 SERIE A
Roma - Parma 3 - 0 11/02/2007 SERIE A
Roma - Siena 1 - 0 28/01/2007 SERIE A
TEAM NEWS
Ascoli
Several players are out due to injuries: Di Biagio, Bjelanovic, Fontana, Del Vecchio and Lombardo. Former Roma player Bonanni got a red card in the Parma game so will not be available against giallorossi. Zanetti is suspended as well. Pagliuca should sit on the bench, as Eleftheropoulos is very likely to play again.
Probable Formation: Eleftheropoulos, Corallo, Melara, Nastase, Fini, Foglio, Boudianski, Pesce, Guberti, Paolucci, Soncin.
Roma
Perrotta is suspended and Martinez and Aquilani are still out. Panucci should be back to replace Cassetti, who didn’t impress too much in the Chievo game. De Rossi is a major doubt for Spalletti, while Mancini should start from the bench. Doni has got the flu, so Curci is very likely to play.
Probable Formation: Curci, Panucci, Mexes, Chivu, Tonetto, Wilhelmsson, Faty (De Rossi), Pizarro, Tavano, Taddei, Totti.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Eleftheropoulos (Ascoli)
He was Ascoli’s best player in the game against Parma. He’s enjoying his moment of glory as Pagliuca is temporarily unavailable and he will quite happy to face his former club Roma as with giallorossi he hardly played a single game.
Totti (Roma)
He was said to be on a nervous breakdown after he missed the sixth penalty of the season in the Reggina game. But in Verona he showed the reason why he’s currently the best Italian player around: he bagged a couple of goals just to silence his critics and to help Roma avoiding an embarrassing defeat. No doubt he will try to increase the margin as top-scorer in a supposedly easy game like Ascoli-Roma.
PREDICTION
Roma cannot afford to some more points, as they want to secure second place as soon as possible. Last year they lost to Ascoli 3-2, but at that time the Bianconeri had a stronger team. This time the home side would be quite content with a draw.
Ascoli 0-2 Roma

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Inter are out at 2.2 on betfair and were long odds on with most bookies all week. I think there must be some value at prices bigger than evens, regardless of who is left out.

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Livorno (+1.5) @ 3.10 Gamebookers is enough for my money this afternoon. Inter will care too much on their CL match in midweek so I believe they can face some rough time there .

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
For me today:
Livorno - Inter = Livorno +0.5 @ 1.87 6pts
Today Boss Mancini will make the turn-over in sight of the difficult game against Valencia of Champions League. Livorno can take advantage of this occasion to take at least a point from the match.
Ascoli - Roma = 2 @ 1.82 3pts
Boss Spalletti will make the turn-over in sight of the game of Champions League against Lione but I believe that Roma can easily win this game against Ascoli with so many absentees for bans and injuries. Roma, misses then with the victory in away from different matches.
Napoli - Spezia = Over @ 2.20 3pts
Today Napoli plays in home match against Spezia that has succeeded in stopping different Big Teams of Serie B. Napoli returns to play under the eyes of the own fanses considering that yesterday the restructuring works of the Stadium have been finished and, for this, cannot fail the appointment with the goals of its advanced department Bucchi-Calaiò-De Zerbi.

Re: Italian football 3-4 March
Lazio had a serie of wins. I`ve watched their last two matches and they didn`t impress me too much especially with Catania although the result in the end was 3-1. Sampdoria is good team no important are missing so I expect a draw match at 3.2 it`s worth to try...or not?
