Bundesliga or Premiership?
Got to admit the more I watch the bundesliga the more I prefer it to the premiership. The standard of play is prob not much different for 85% of the teams but the stadiums are full, the crowd sing and get involved, all the teams attack and try to win games and in general it just seems more exciting. There is no set top 3 in Germany which obviously helps, Bayern are obviously the wealthiest side but there is no hierachy like there is in the Premiership, I have certainly seen more exciting games in Germany this season than in the Premiership, maybe its because I have watched the Premiership for too many years and have become bored of it, but the Bundesliga reminds me of everything I want the Premiership to be, but isn't..
Competitive, exciting, full of teams that have a go, decent atmospheres in the stadiums, and cheap tickets for the fans! Any Opinions? Or whatever, I've pretty much made up my mind. |

Re: Bundesliga or Premiership?
100% behind what you've said. Premiership is flawed as profit comes before football, hence the pathetic suggestion of a 39th game.
The clubs have too much power and are far from interested in profit-related transfers. Their wages are too high and all the money paid to players is being funded by higher ticket prices and crazy merchandise. The Championship and league are far better models. |

Re: Bundesliga or Premiership?
I think both are very similar Leagues Hasty, if anything over the last decade or so German fans have become more passionate as they haven't bought into corporate hospitality to the same depth we have.
The players also seem to respect their own fans a lot more too somethng the Prem is losing, after a game the players will go over to their fans and show some appreciation for them turning up, that aspect of the English game in the Prem is dissapearing as players just toddle off the field at the end of the match. For instance I watched the Cologne v Dortmund game tonight and at the end Dortmund players made a big play of going over to their fans and celebrating with them, that aspect is going out of our game unless it was a semi or final win. The problem we have is to many Johnny foriegners who don't have any idea of what the club they are playing for means to the fans, being a City fan I've noticed this more than ever as players come and go off and on the pitch oblivious to what is going on in the stands. The Bundesliga is becoming what the Premiership used to be, I just hope the powers that be realise that and start to do soemthing about it. |
