I like Greuther Furth and their style of playing. This time I have to back them.
Well, Furth lost two players: Caligiuri and Allagui, both to FSV Mainz. Caligiuri was a great midfield player but in the end of the season he was injured and Furth played even good without him. Allagui was the star from Greuther Furth but he was a bit arrogant and vain sometimes. He is a great striker, no doubt, but he was not working, he did not fight. So it is maybe not so bad that he changed. The new striker from Furth will be Kingsley Onuegbu. I know him very well because he played for my local team last year and I can assure that it was a good decision to buy them. Another "new" player is Dani Schahin, he was a reserve player last year but he played great test games and therefore he will get the chance to show his skills. He is quite young and he came from Hamburger SV but I heard good things about him. Apart from that Furth bought Kleine from Gladbach as defender and he will be the new captain. Kleine is very experienced and he already played for Furth some years ago. Let's have a look in Furths probably lineup:

Grün - Schröck, Kleine, Biliskov, Rahn - Pekovic - Nehrig, Haas, Müller - Onuegbu, Schahin

Grün is one of the best goalkeepers from the league, his saves are unique. Schröck is currently in a very good form, he played great test games. Kleine and Biliskov are too slow was defenders I think but Karlsruhes offensive is not good enough to put them under pressure. But all in all they are solid and experienced. Rahn is back after long injury, his freekicks/corners are his strength but he has problems against fast strikers. But Karlsruhe has no good wingers, so it won't be a problem for him. Pekovic is a fighter and an unfair player but he can destroy Karlsruhes build up play. Nehrig and Müller are very strong wingers, above all Müller. Nehrig is good, too, but he was injured for some months. His form is not so good yet but he is a strong player. Haas is a solid midfield player, not very offensive, but Furth make pressure through the wings. As I said above, Schahin and Onuegbu will probably play. Furths best striker Nöthe is doubtful but coach Buskens will decide some minuts before game start. Nöthe said in an interview that he is fit enough to play. So I trust him.

Still some words about Furths DFB Pokal game in Braunschweig. Braunschweig is a very offensive strong 3. Liga team and Furth had problems with their fast wingers. So Braunschweig create good opportunities but Karlsruhe has not so good wingers like Braunschweig (or they are injured). But Furth won in the extra time and all in all not undeserved.

The key to beat Furth is putting their defense under pressure with fast strikers. I do not see Karlsruhe putting Furths defense under pressure, Karlsruhe has currently no self-confident to do that.

Just some words about Karlsruhe. Karlsruhe wanted to fire their coach Schupp some months ago but they have not enough money to pay that. So he is still their coach but there is big trouble beetween Schupp and the management. The management bought a player (Rieß) without asking Schupp before. Apart from Rieß (who will not play because Schupp does not like him) Karlsruhe did not buy any players due to financial problems.
Their team is bad, they showed a bad performance when they lost away in the DFB Pokal against Ingolstadt. Their defense was their strength last year but this year it is different because important players left the club.
For example their main goalkeeper Miller and their shooting star Stindl changed to Hannover 96, their important defender Matip went back to FC Cologne. Karlsruhes team is weaker than last year. The atmosphere is not good due to the trouble beetween management and coach, their performances so far were poor.

I see a little draw-danger because Furths offensive is not as good as last year, maybe a 0:0, but all in all odds have value on Furth. -0,25 is a great choice (maybe under 2,5 also).

Pick: Fürth (-0,25) @2,01 (Pinnacle) , 5/10
FT 4:1

+ 5,05 u

Deserved home win but Furth was poor in the beginning from the second half time. But great counter attacks in the end.

Re: Germany, 20.08 - 23.08

Weekend was shit so far, some sick unluck, but I will do it better next time.

23.08.2010 | VfL Bochum - 1860

I decided to play the unusual AHC line here, but I have a good reason for it and I will explain it in the next lines.

First of all something about VfL Bochum. Bochums relegation was not a big suprise last year, they were just too bad. But their transfers were fantastic. Above all their offensive will be fantastic. Let's have a look on Bochums expected lineup tonight:

Heerwagen – Concha, Yahia (Maltritz), Mavraj (Maltritz), Kopplin – Dabrowski, Maric, Federico, Toski (Grote) – Saglik, Tese.

Bochum's defense is their weak point to be honest. I do not think that Heerwagen is a good goalkeeper, Yahia is great but he want to change to a new club, and so on. But the defense is not bad, so please do not misunderstand me. Kopplin is a very good defender, he came from FC Bayern Munich II and I do not think that he will have problems against 1860's strong wingers. Midfield player Dabrowski is a fighter and the heart from the team, Maric is the same kind of player. That is important for a 2. Bundesliga team. But Bochum's offensive is the best from the whole league I think, even better than Hertha's one. New transfer Federico is a fantastic player, he play in the 2. Bundesliga for years (Karlsruhe, Bielefeld) and he was always the star in these teams. He is technical a very strong player and a great playmaker to break 1860's defense. Saglik was fantastic in Paderborn last year. Without him Paderborn is poor (they lost 0:1 on Saturday against Aue), Saglik scored about 15 times last season. He is a fast striker, important against 1860's defense. And then, last but not least, my favourite player Chong Tae-Se. He is the 'Wayne Rooney' from Asian and he played great in the World Cup for North Korea. Tae-Se is the opposite from Saglik, he is a struggling, hard-running player while Saglik is a fast scorer. Behind them Federico as a great playmaker.

Maybe you ask yourself for which reason Bochum lost in the DFB Pokal away against Offenbach (0:3). I can explain it. The key to beat Bochum is to put their defense under pressire and Offenbach did. Anyway Offenbach has a great run with 5 wins from 5 games in the league and I think that they could even beat a Bundesliga team in their current form.

But one bad thing, Bochum's fan stand will be empty because Bochum hooligans made riot after relegation last year. I do not hope that it will be a big advantage but actually I do not think so.

But back to the important things. Offenbach put Bochum under pressure in their own stadium, but 1860 will not do that. 1860 will try to defend, but defending is not their strength.

Furthermore a few good defenders probably won't play. Their best defense midfield player Aleksandar Ignjovski probably won't travel to Bochum and Florin Lovin, another defense midfield regular, will sit on the substitutes bench at first. Eke Uzoma and Dominik Stahl will play instead of them and I think low of them. Both are unexperienced and not so good. Moreover 1860's new superstar Savio Nsereko (very young, already have played for AC Florenz, West Ham United) made a bad impression so far and he probably won't play also.

By the way, there was trouble in 1860 last week. VfB Stuttgart made an offer for 1860's best player Stefan Aigner. Aigner said that he want to stay in Munich, but manager Stevic said that they have to sell him due to financial problems. Then Stevic changed his mind and after all he said that Aigner will stay. But I expect Aigner to be uncertain.

1860's pokal game was not good, they won 2:1 against a 4th league team (SC Verl) but it was a very close game.

I read a little bit in 1860 fan forums and the fans think that 1860 will lose.

I expect 1860 to focus on defense and I think that they will try to counter attack with Bierofka and Aigner. But 1860 was very poor away last year due to their bad defense. Bülow from Rostock is not good, Ghvinianidze was very, very poor last season. Rukavina is actually a good guy, but he did so many mistakes lastly. Buck was a solid player in Augsburg but not a regular.

Concluding another fact. Bochums' new coach Friedhelm Funkel had five 2. Bundesliga seasons in his carrier - and in each season his team was promoted!
So, if Bochums strong offensive put 1860's weak defense under pressure, they will start the season with a home win.

1860 is traditional poor away and due to their bad defense I think that Bochum will win with more than one goal difference (therefore -0.75). Stake only 3/10 because I learned that overstaking on the first matchday is not clever.

Pick: VfL Bochum (-0.75) @2,11 (SBObet) , 3/10

Deserved win, great Jong Tae-Se (I think he becomes my new favourite player), great Bochum offensive but their defense was really poor. But all in all the game was how I expect it and that is the important thing. Nevertheless I am not content because Bochum was 3:1 in front and because I took shit odds (odd crash on matchday). By the way, sorry for this poor weekend, it was a mix of misfortune and bad analysis. Next one will be better.
