If theres a price a I see disappering early is that one of Getafe,home form is good and the 3-1 win against Valencia makes good reading,they rubber stamped their good form with a win at Seville last time.Valladolid should pose little threat to a team in this form,looks banker material imho.

 Good To Have The Spanish Football Back  Saturday, 2 January 2010 Valencia v Espanyol 4 v 13 Valencia Were On Good Form Before The Christmas Break And Will Be Looking to Keep it Up in 2010. They Have Mallorca, Deportivo & Athletic Right Behind Them And They Cant Afford to Slip Up. At Home I Think They Will Be Worth Backing This Weekend As I Think They Are Playing An Espanyol Who Weren't Playing Well. Espanyol Also Have A Poor Away Record And Overall I Just Think Valencia Will Be Too Strong For Them. Prediction: Valencia Win Barcelona v Villarreal 1 v 9 Barcelona Ended 2009 On A High Winning Everything. Pep Will Have Them Well Prepared For This Game & They Will Know How Strong Villarreal Ended 2009 And That They Cant Afford to Slip Up With Real Just Behind Them. Barcelona Have Also Won All 7 Home Games So Far This Season. Villarreal Have Bounced Back From Their Bad Start To The Season But Their Away Record is Still Poor. They Will Definetly Have A Go On Saturday Night But Being A Barcelona Fan .. Prediction: Barcelona Win Atletico Madrid v Sevilla 15 v 3 I Like Atletico Madrid And Feel They Will Come Onto Form Soon Despite Their Terrible Start And Weak Defence. They Have Shown No Signs Of Improvement But I Still Remain That They Will Come Good Soon. With Atletico You Never Know What Your Going to Get And With That Defence It Will Be Easy to Jump Onto Backing Sevilla This Weekend. Sevilla Slipped Up Towards The End of 2009 Losing At Home To Getafe & Drawing With Valladolid At The Start of December. If Sevilla Were At Home This Weekend I Would Be 95% Certain of Them To Win. You Just Never Know With Games Like This But. Im Going to Take A Gamble And Hopefully That Defence Lives Up To Its Reputation. Prediction: Sevilla Win Sunday, 3 January 2010 Almeria v Xerez 17 v 20 Almeria And Xerez Are Both Struggling At The Bottom Of The League. Almeria Sacked Their Manager After Their Last Defeat And Their B Team Coach Is To Take Charge On A Temporary Basis. Xerez Have Terrible Home And Away Form And Are Yet To Win Away This Season. Xerez Did Have Longer Time Off Due to Barca Being in The World Club Cup. Almeria Should Be Favourites For This Game And I Think They Will Win Despite How Hard Xerez Work. Prediction: Almeria Win Getafe v Valladolid 8 v 11 Getafe Were Playing Very Well Before The Break. I Backed Them A Few Times Myself In December Where They Picked Up Wins At Home To Tenerife & Away To Sevilla. Getafe Will Be Looking To Continue This Form And Are Sitting Nicely In The Table, Just 5 Points Off 4th Place. Valladolid Are Inconsistent, With Hot And Cold Form In My Opinion. Their League Stats Show That With 2 Wins 4 Draws 2 Defeats At Home And 1 Win 3 Draws And 3 Defeats Away From Home. I Think Getafe Will Be Too Strong For Them. Prediction: Getafe Win Racing Santander v Tenerife 16 v 14 Not Much To Say On These Two Teams. Both Have Their Up And Downs Result Wise. Racing's Home Form Is 1 Win 1 Draw 5 Defeats. Tenerife's Away Form Is 0 Wins 1 Draw 6 Defeats So The Pick Really Is Up To You. Personally, I Liked What I Saw When Tenerife Played Atletico Madrid And Could Pose A Threat. Prediction: Draw Real Zaragoza v Deportivo La Coruna 19 v 6 Zaragoza Should Be Looking To Bounce Back From Their Last Game Where They Lost 6-0 To Real Madrid. Zaragoza Will Be Looking To Not Lose This Especially Being At Home. Deportivo Have Had Some Good Results But Something Is Making Me Pick A Draw For This Game. Just A Feeling, Not Something To Go By. Prediction: Draw Sporting Gijon v Malaga 10 v 18 I Like Sporting Gijon And Enjoy Their Attacking Football. At Home They Have Won 4 From 7 Despite Only Scoring 8 Goals. Malaga Are A Tough Team Despite Their League Position. They Have Not Won Away Yet But Have Got 4 Draws From 7. With Sporting Being At Home Im Going To Say Home Win. Prediction: Sporting Gijon Win Mallorca v Athletic Bilbao 5 v 7 Really Good Game Here With Mallorca's Home Record Being Excellent, 7 Wins Out of 7. Athletic Bilbao Ended 2009 On A High And Were On My Coupon Frequently. Mallorca Did Lose Their Last Game Away to Malaga And Its Results Like This That Make You Think They Could Be Beaten At Home Aswell. I Think Athletic Are The Team To Do This And Despite Draw Being The Sensible Prediction I Am Going to Go For .. Prediction: Athletic Bilbao Win Osasuna v Real Madrid 12 v 2 Osasuna Were Missing Some Important Players To The End of 2009 And They Should Be Back Now. Assuming They Have Full Strength or Important Players Back I Think They Will Be Hard To Beat For Real Especially At Home. Although, With The Quality That Real Have And After Beating Zaragoza 6-0 They Should Win This One Too. Not Saying It Will Be Easy Though, Team News Permitting. Prediction: Real Madrid Win What Do Yous All Think? Also Does Anyone Have Team News  ** Read A Report That Iniesta Will Miss This Weekends Game Vs Villarreal Due To Injury. Also It Said Messi Would Miss This Game Too Due To Being Allowed To Return From Holiday On The Day Of The Game. Not Sure If This Is True. Does Anyone Know Anything On This? **

Getafe v Valladolid (1) I made this my banker,especially after finding out that Valladolid will be without Manucho and Diego (suspended) upfront,there are doubts on midfielder Rubio too,picked up an injury in training.
Real Zaragoza v Deportivo (X2) Deportivo look a value bet here,there is a 15pt difference in the league between these two,and Deportivo will be further strengthed by the avalibility of both Guardado in midfield and Colotto in defence. Going on form prior to the winter break, Getafe deserve to be favourites, not sure they can be called a banker though. Their momentum's been interrupted by the break, and I read earlier that in the last 5 seasons (since they were promoted to the Primera) they've never won in their first match back after the winter break - two draws and 3 defeats.
In any case, Valladolid's form before the break was pretty good too - 1 defeat in 8. 5 draws in there, but they were tough to beat anyway. Good luck with them anyway Basher (and Lionel if you backed them), but the price looks too short for me under the circumstances.

Thanks Lionel and gillsy. I'd love to participate but I don't watch any Spanish footy and have never really read up on it. I would if I thought it would help but I don't think it would.
 Doesn't mean we don't appreciate your thoughts though.

Mallorca scored a couple of goals (42 secs and 1:12). Anyone think they have what it takes to keep things up and finish in the top three? Or are they the Spanish Villa? (No pun intended. Well, maybe a little bit...)
