Re: 14th Jan - Portuguese League Cup
ok off the top of my head
Nacional score goals home or away, ranked 1st at home and 3rd away for goals scored, lost 2-4 very recently to Porto in the league,Porto winning injury time with two late goals.Nacional are fifth but saying that they havent played anyone higher than 10th,away they got a 0-0 draw at Benfica and a 3-1 win at 4th placed Lexioes, could be the shock of the round, but you would need Porto to field a very weak side, you couldnt back either with confidence in this type of game. Setubalcan beat Academica, but Academica are one of those teams that grind out results and when they lose its usually by the single goal, they failed to win away this season and are threatened with relegation,Setbual are second bottom but and havent scored for four games in the league,I watched their last home game with 2nd placed Sporting played some good stuff before going down 2-0,let me see the teams before I commit myself. Belenenses are another team facing relegation, were sitting bottom but have now vacated that spot after beating Rio Ave away a putting them in bottom spot, put in a excellent 1st half performance away to Braga who are a very good side, but after conceding the heads went down abit and did very little after,Guimaraes are the better side, but put in a poor performance in this comp at home to Benfica, and followed that up with a 0-0 at home to Amadora,a game they should be looking to win, both teams dont convince at the mo,If I was to bet without looking at team news it would br one for under 2.5 goals. Maritimo will beat Pacos if they put out a pretty strong team for this match,Pacos have injuries and were 3-0 down at home by half time in the league to Nacional.Pacos sit 3rd bottom and play the team directly above them in the league at the weekend,so im pretty sure the importance of the league game will win over the cup game, looks a home win,as I feel the away side will be weak, await team news. If Sporting put out a strong team against Rio Ave they should win,Sporting score alot of goals in the 1st half of games,so the ht/ft bet might be worth a look aswell as the single Benfica were beaten rather embarasingly by Trofense in the league, and from then on they have played from great stuff both in the league and the cup, they have strength in depth and with the impetous they have on the moment the players coming some like the likes of Souza need this game to prove a point, they beat Guimaraes away who arent a bad side in the league quite comfortleby showing a big desire to win. Olhanense beaten already at home by Belenenses relegation threatened league 1 side,I doubt can match Benfica in any department. There is good reason to win this game should Benfica win that would give them enough points to make the last game a dead rubber.Im going to look around for good bets on Benfica ht/ft looks a good call as does over 2.5 goals Last edited by FC Basher : 12-01-2009 at 20:43 |

Re: 14th Jan - Portuguese League Cup
Maritimo wont be at full strength but should still have enough to beat Pacos who will be missing players in a number of positions the goalkeeper a central defender a midfielder and their top goalscorer,so the home side looks the bet.
Maritimo - 5pts win @ 1.66 ht/ft - Maritimo/Maritimo 5pts @ 2.50 As I thought Benfica I slightly weaken side but still have plenty of regulars in midfield and defense with the added bonus of Cardoso the top goalscorer upfront Benfica- Benfica 5pts @ 2.00 >2.5 goals 5pts @ 1.70 Last edited by FC Basher : 14-01-2009 at 20:31 |
