If anyone wants to run a prediction league for any or all the swedish leagues then please let me know here
http://www.thedailypunt.com/forum/prediction-leagues/

It only takes 5 minutes a week and you can challenge your workmates etc in your own mini leagues etc. Granted this would probably only happen in places of work in Sweden. the option is there though

Re: Swedish Allsvenskan 2008

What team is the best in Sweden now? It seems that it changes quite often. IFK Gothenburg was good for a while, Djurgarden,Elfsborg and Halmstad too.

This is the champions over the last ten seasons:

2007: IFK Gothenburg
2006: Elfsborg
2005: Djurgarden
2004: Malmo
2003: Djurgarden
2002: Djurgarden
2001: Hammarby
2000: Halmstad
1999: Helsingborg
1998: AIK

Djurgarden three times, otherwise 7 different teams. Not like in Norway, where Rosenborg won 13 seasons on a row and only Brann and Vålerengen have won the last 15 seasons.

I guess all this teams can become champions, but dont forget Kalmar. They impressed a lot last year as runners-up, one point behind champions IFK.

Re: Swedish Allsvenskan 2008: Starts 30/03/08

The initial glance

Norrkoping - Djurgarden IF

It is strange too se that high odds on DIF, thought they would be seen as favs against a Norrkoping side that were impressive last year, but in another division. Would think of AW but need to understand the reason for these odds

Halmstad BK - Gefle

Gefle are poor travelers, though Halmstad can have a bad day more than often. The trouble is that Gefle know how to keep clean sheet, and dont know how does the pitch look like after the winter period

AIK Solna - Kalmar FF
For some reason all the Swedes like to see AIK winning, maybe it has to do something with national pride, taken that the home side play on the stadium where the national team also play. I've seen some speculations that Kalmar could go for a title this year, so I would avoid this one for the opening week

GAIS Gothenburg - Elfsborg Boras IF

GAIS are midtable side, Elfsborg are about to be champs, lets see how it goes the first week, or if you like to risk, take AW

Orebro SK - Trelleborg FF

He he, this could be a second div biggest derby next year. low scoring, draw

Ljungskile - Hammarby

The odds are correct, so it is to avoid.

Sundsvall - Helsingborg

Not sure about the strength of Helsingborg this season, so I wouldnt risk talking about it. It is also that Sundsvall could be stronger this season, so it is a big no bet

Malmö FF - IFK Göteborg

The bigest game of the first round. Watch it, dont bet

Re: Swedish Allsvenskan 2008: Starts 30/03/08

Well The thing about the swedish league is that we dont have 1 or 2 strong teams...we have like 7 or 8 teams that could win the league if the luck is with them..
Top teams this year could or should be IFK Gothenburg, Malmö, AIK, Hammarby, Djurgården, Elfsborg, Kalmar and maybe Helsingborg....I think overs will be quite often present in games including Norrköping and Helsingborg.....
Now to the second round games
Djurgården-Malmö could go either way.....If you would point a gun at my head I would say over 2,5
IFK Göteborg (my team)- Örebro should be a solid win for IFK...HOME WIN
Gefle-Norrköping.....Gefle have a small budget but according to their coah they have never had a stronger team and they are usually quite strong on home artifical turf....HOME WIN
Trelleborg-GAIS......home ground of Trelleborgis a shitty place...I have been there and there is always a small crowd and usually windy conditions....the 2 teams are expected to be down at the bottom but you never know....Trelleborg has a good coach in Tom Prahl and a descent striker in Michael Mensah....Gais could be a surprise package this year...the second team from Gothenburg could maybe join the midtable teams if the could get someone to score for them ....I think that this should go under
Helsingborg-Halmstad.....home team won 9-0 last game last season so you should expekt that Halmstad are up for this one....home team had a good away win last week but Halmstad is always a hard opponent....better to stay away
Hammrby-Sundsvall......anything other then a home win will be very surprising...I personally hope that Sundsvall will be able to stay in the league this year but they have a difficult task...
Kalmar-Ljungskile....another banker....Kalmar should score at least 3 goals in this game...Ljungskile is a small village on the west coast of Sweden and it is a great achievement just to be in Allsvenskan...everyone expects that they will go down to superettan with a bang ....but some games they will win but not this one
Elsborg-AIK......the other "big" game this round.....I expect this game will go under....but teams have great players but a the question is who will score the goals ???...Elfsborg have e great defence and midfield similar to AIK but both teams lack good strikers...AIK maybe has the better ones but I dont think they will win this one anyway...under is the call if you must bet
Thanks
