Re: Copa Libertadores 10th -12th May

Guadalajara taking on 2 of Argentina's finest in River and Velez at same time? River Plate then back to base to play on friday!

Id be laying Guadalajara in this as their missing about half their team to mexican national side world cup warm up

Re: Copa Libertadores 10th -12th May

I have posted this in a couple of places but thought Id stick it up here too

Pick 4pts Guadalajara v VELEZ 2.76

On a day that is pretty poor for betting I think I have unearthed a decent betting opportunity for the game between Guadalajara Chivas and Velez.......

Many of you will know that the home side here are without their 6 best players, who have been called up to the Mexican national team. There was an agreement reached where they focus purely on Mexico and do not play competitive club football. Chivas managed to get through the last round without them and through the 2nd leg of their play off match on the domestic front but this will be a tough game against a strong Argentinian side.

It is worth noting the 2nd leg of this match will not be played until AFTER the world cup so we could be talking 6-8 weeks away, by which time the Mexican side will be stronger (they beat Sao Paulo at home recently) and Velez could lose a couple of players. You could do draw cover at 1.88ish here but Velez will really want to WIN this game.

Chivas will line up with their third choice goalie after their 2nd choice was at fault for loads of goals recently. The usual compliment of 3 missing international defenders, 2 midfielders and Omar Bravo up front for Chivas will have a big impact her

Hmmm, i almost agree with you. However, Chivas with those very same players have got to the semi-finals of the Mexican championship. Rested some in the win against Jaguares as well.

Castroman (Velez' best player by far, imo) and Roly Zarate are out. Velez on w2 away from home in the Clausura and last 10 form: w2 d6 l2 - wins vs Rocha and Newell's.

I'm not betting on this, so gl mr chips, but as the prices now stand, there may just be a bit of value on Chivas @ 3.05 bf. Was gonna go for the draw if >3.30 was available but no joy.

I got 3.5 earlier with Skybet and that was great odds on Velez but posted the most recent price when writing my preview. I agree Chivas continue to defy odds and have good record but Velez I think will be too strong here

That 3.5 is a cracking price; woulda had that if i saw it. Velez down to 2.64 bf and I'm laying 'em at that.... Could be a nice wee trade for you there now mr chips.

Hey how about that Quito, the town is somewhat high in the mountains, 9300 feet, any chance Internacional wont be losing thier breath up there ?

Re: Copa Libertadores 10th -12th May

Internacional have been impressive thus far - unbeaten up to this point, but they could struggle a little more tonight.

They're staying in Guayaquil(sea level) until the last possible moment in order to reduce the effect of the altitude in Quito - rather than give themselves a few days to acclimatise, and so by the looks of things it'll be unadventurous from them and a 0-0 would suit down to the ground.

LDU have been good at home, winning 4-0, 4-0 and 5-0, and only losing to a decent Velez side who have been performing well on their travels. They've already stated their intention to attack tonight, and have all their important goalscorers in Delgado, Murillo and Urrutia free - only Obregon is suspended.

There's no doubt Internacional can play a defensive game well if they need to - but over 90 minutes without too much of the ball high up in the Andes they will have a far tougher time than in any of their other matches.

0-0 is a fair danger here, but I think LDU should get their noses in front tonight, even if it does come late, and 2.13 (-0.5 at 10bet) looks fair enough.

Re: Copa Libertadores 10th -12th May

I've laid LDU @ 2.18bf. Can't really argue with what Beanie has said apart from me making 'em a fp of 2.40 to win tonight. Internacional are a good team and the danger will come in the last 30 mins imo as they tire; would like 'em to be 2 up at ht but we'll see...

There's been a nice wee bit of needling between the two sides this week in the press etc - it's never a good idea to p!ss off Brazilian footballers.

Re: Copa Libertadores 10th -12th May

I have gone against you again Raven and have back LDU to win this one. I cant seen The Brazilians winning this - they may get a draw but the altitude will take its toll in the last 30mins as you say so hopefully the home side can take this
