Re: German Football: 2nd May

Aue meet Bochum tonight in the second league.

Only one punt: NOBET!

Bochum is a sure climber,Aue good at home.Bochum is the best awayteam, Aue one of the best home teams.Aue can´t jump on a climber place but they want to say thanks to the fans.

no under/over
no 1-x-2
for me.

Re: German Football: 2nd May

Hi folks
I am out of time so will keep very short.
For today I see value only on Koeln. They are in form at the mo have two misings, but thats not be blow as tehy can replace them w/o problems. Hamburg is without whole midfield as like in last game against Leverkusen. Also some extend missings in defence. That make 7 first team players.
Koeln is offered at 3,00 Conf 5/10

For tomorrow fancy Mainz and Frankfurt and in second Dresden to get 3 points from Cottbus.

saw this in some others forum, like what johnny just said...
2006-05-02 Koeln (+0,25) AH - HSV by: Macot (01-05-2006 20:45 CET)

German Bundesliga

Hamburger SV is slowly losing their battle for the title. Final stroke came against Leverusen and it was a result of a long and tiresome season for Hanseatic team.

HSV under Doll are a very strong team, a team that give impression of strenght, but they are still not deep enough. Injuries have left their toll and HSV will travel south without Van der Vaart, Van Buyten, Jarolim, Wicky, de Jong and Beinlich. Also under questionmark is defender Atouba. This surely has to show on teams performances.

On the other side, Koeln are trying to save themself in the last moment. They are unbeaten in three games and have two wins in a row at home, against Wolfsburg and Duisburg. Worth mentioning is their draw in Gelsenkirchen (1-1), all this shows, Swiss coach Latour managed to compose his team. There is another important issue to it: Koeln can be confident, because they dont have such personal problems like HSV.

So, this will be a real fight, but I see Koeln as having the edge in this department. Also, they will be very motivated, this is a must win game for Koeln, HSV still have advantage over Werder. All in all, I expect a tight game and at the end of the day, Koeln shouldnt lose it!

Re: German Football: 2nd May

Roundup Spieltag 32 Bayern Munich will be crowned German champions for the 20th time if they beat VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday and Hamburger SV fail to win 24 hours earlier at relegation-battling Köln. By winning the cup, Bayern are one leg – and perhaps one win – away from an historic back-to-back league and cup double. Eighth-placed Stuttgart are unlikely to provide too stern a test now that their distant hopes of playing UEFA Cup football next season have effectively disappeared. HSV, on the other hand, must face a Köln side battling for their lives. Four points from safety with three games to play leaves the Goats with little scope for error but, given that they’ve spent the season trapped at the foot of the table, their aim is to narrow the gap on Mainz to two points in the next two games. Mainz , one place above Kaiserslautern, and in the final “safe” spot, visit immediate rivals Wolfsburg on Wednesday. Klaus Augenthaler’s men know a win will take them to the safety of 36 points - five clear of their distressed opponents. Nevertheless, Mainz haven’t allowed their plight to weigh too heavily and a spirited 2-2 draw with Bayern last time out suggests that they are still favourites to survive. MSV Duisburg’s inevitable relegation will be confirmed if Mainz win at Wolfsburg, regardless of their own result at home to Werder Bremen on the same night Kaiserslautern also meet direct rivals on Wednesday with a visit to beaten cup-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt. Wolfgang Wolf’s men lie four points behind Friedhelm Funkel’s side, so an FCK win here would drag Frankfurt back into the mire. Victory would take Frankfurt to mathematical safety. Wednesday’s final match is the least significant with Schalke, beaten in the UEFA Cup, playing only for pride against mid-table Arminia Bielefeld. Tuesday’s big game is in Berlin where sixth-placed Hertha BSC host fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen in a match to decide who qualifies automatically for the UEFA Cup. Bayern’s win over Frankfurt at the same venue on Saturday means an extra place in that competition passes to the Bundesliga. Therefore, sixth position will now be good enough for European qualification. Hertha, four points clear of seventh-placed Borussia Dortmund, will be keen to maintain that gap, but a win would see them leapfrog Leverkusen into the relative comfort of fifth. Dortmund visit mid-table Hannover on the same night, while Nürnberg face Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Frankenstadion. The peculiarity of this season’s championship means that even mid-table clubs are still not mathematically guaranteed survival with three games to play. Nevertheless, few look beyond the bottom six when considering the likely permutations. On those grounds, Hannover, Bielefeld, and Nürnberg have done just enough, but may still endure a final week’s tension if another point or two fails to come their way before decision day. From Goal....

Re: German Football: 2nd May

A short post to the second league tonight. Aachen lose 1:3 last Round in Paderborn, worst for Coach Hecking. He was very angry after that match and promise that the team will play much better next round. They play at home versus Siegen, the first relegated team. Aachen could catch the championship of the second Bundesliga if they win all of their last rounds and Bochum lose one round, cause Aachen is only one point behind Bochum in ladder.Siegen go to the third league back net season. They have only 25 points, the first non relegation place has 37 points, 12 points more than Siegen and they have only 3 rounds to play -- byebye Siegen. The Team has no motivation to win in Aachen, one of the best home team this season ( 2nd best I think .
Not important for the ladder is the second meeting between Paderborn and Burghausen. Both teams are in the mid-area of the table and can´t win anything. The other both meetings are important meetings. All or nothing is the headline. In the bavarian derby fight 1860 Munich versus Unterhaching on the road and Saarbrucken meet Offenbach at home.No team has magical 40 points.

12th 1860__________39pts
13th Unterhaching___38pts
14th Offenbach_____ 37pts
15th Saarbrucken____35pts

No team may lose!

Re: German Football: 2nd May

Nobody think Nurnberg look like a decent punt at home to BMG?

Nurnberg are 5-0-0 for their last five home games, BMG the opposite for their last five away games. Not seen any team news but 2.1 looks like a silly price for a team in superb form at home.

Johhny/Gerry, any important team news?

No big news. Mgladbach is missing some players, but nothing important.
Nuernberg ain tthat strong as they played lately. I think that season is over for them and that mgladbach will put much more fight in these game.
For me no bet, but if I had to I would put small bet on MGB.

Its maybe toughest game to predict. Hannover need to finish season good infront of they own public and Dortmund play better football lately. Maybe is draw posible but all others outcomes as well. If I had to punt than on Dortmund.

Re: German Football: 2nd May

Here is an article I found today:

"A draw for Nurnberg on Tuesday night against Borussia Monchengladbach could give the fans a double reason to celebrate.

Hans Meyer has guided the Bavarians to almost certain safety since taking over from Wolfgang Wolf in November, but he has placed his future beyond the end of the season on guaranteed safety.

Therefore, a draw at the Franken Stadium on Tuesday would not only allow the fans to open the champagne and celebrate a third successive season in the Bundesliga, it would allow them to sleep safe in the knowledge that Meyer will be overlooking events next season too.

The former Hertha Berlin coach is ready to sign a two-year contract, admitting: "working with such a young squad as this one has never been so enjoyable".

Meyer also worked for three and a half years as coach of Monchengladbach and the celebrations in beating his former side may be slightly muted.

"Obviously, I still have feelings for the club," admitted the 63-year-old, who guided the Foals into the Bundesliga back in 2001.

Markus Schroth will be missing in attack, but Stefan Kiessling is available for his penultimate home game before leaving for Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

I think this game has DRAW written all over it, even X2 is a good choice IMO.
I will probably bet on this double tonight:
Koeln 1X
M'gldbach X2

Good luck!
