Re: Irish Eircom Premier: Monday Night

Derry City boss John Robertson is demanding an improved display from his players in Monday's Eircom League clash at Bray (1945 BST).
Robertson was furious with the performance in Friday's drab 0-0 draw against UCD at the Brandywell.

The Candystripes bos accused a number of his players of "not playing within the team structure".

Pat McCourt, Ken Oman and Sean Hargan are injury doubts but Killian Brennan is available again after suspension.

Derry claimed their third successive Eircom League Cup last Tuesday but the side has failed to win in their last four league games and Robertson continues to warn his players that they are playing for the futures at the club.

Bray are not mathematically safe from the relegation picture in the Eircom League as they are five points ahead of second-bottom Waterford with five games remaining.

Former Derry City defender Clive Delaney returns after suspension for Bray but Stephen Fox and Colm Tresson are injury doubts for the county Wicklow outfit.

Re: Irish Eircom Premier: Monday Night

Bray(DNB) V Derry @Evens: Derry are in poor form of late and have lost 4 and drawn 2 of their last 6. Bray are playing ok and have proved hard to beat as Cork found out last weekend. Derrys season is over and manager Robertson will be looking towards next season and will probably give a couple of fringe players a chance to show their worth.

Clive Delaney comes back for Bray this evening and hes a solid defender who should tighten things up at the back for Bray. If McCourt and Osam fail to recover from their knocks I'll be a lot more confident of Bray getting a win tonight. The best I can see for Derry this evening is a draw and with that in mind I think its worth chancing Bray draw no bet @Evens.

Longford V Waterford @10/11: This is a game that Longford tend to do well in. The last 4 times these teams have met in Flancare Park the score has been 3-0 3-0 1-0 and 1-0 to Longford and Waterford have won just once in 8 meetings. Longfords recent form may look patchy but on closer inspection they were unlucky against Galway last week conceding a peno and getting a man sent off. They also lost narrowly to both Cork and Drogheda which is nothing to be ashamed off.

They're home form has been good lately winning 5 drawing one and losing just once. The difference between the sides is the fact Longford have a brilliant striker and Waterford don't. Dave Mooney has knocked in 15 goals so far this season which is very impressive considering Longford are bottom and have scored 16 league goals in total.

Verdict:
Bray(DNB) @Evens Confidence 3/10
Longford @10/11 Confidence 6/10
Dave Mooney anytime goalscorer for Longford @13/10

Bray Wanderers v Derry City
Monday, 15 October 2007 11:50

Bray Wanderers will be looking to move further away from the eircom League of Ireland danger zone when they take on Derry City at the Carlisle Grounds tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Seagulls are currently ninth in the table and a win over the recently-crowned eircom League Cup holders would bring them level on points with UCD.

Manager Eddie Gormley could have full squad to choose from. Clive Delaney and Mark Duggan return from suspension, with Stephen Fox the only doubt after he picked up a groin injury in Friday night's draw with Cork City.

Despite winning the League Cup with a dramatic extra-time win over Bohemians last Tuesday, Derry manager John Robertson's mood was darkened by his side's 0-0 stalemate with UCD on Friday.

According the BBC website, the Candystripes' manager accused a number of his players of 'not playing within the team structure'.

The Ulstermen have a few injury concerns ahead of their trip to Wicklow. Pat McCourt, Ken Oman and Sean Hargan are doubtful.

However, Killian Brennan does return from suspension.

Longford Town v Waterford United
Monday, 15 October 2007 10:00

Flancare Park will play host to an eircom League of Ireland Premier Division relegation six-pointer tonight, kick-off 8pm, with basement side Longford Town looking to close the five-point gap to nearest strugglers Waterford United.

Town have a few injury concerns going into tonight's crucial game. Definitely out are Dave Brennan (suspended) and Damien Duffy (leg), while Dave Freeman's cardiac problem will sideline him for the rest of the year.

Veteran Mark Rutherford is also a doubt as he has a niggling leg problem.

The club are hopeful, however, that Duffy will return before the FAI Ford Cup semi-final clash with UCD.

Waterford come into the game on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 win over League Cup winners Derry City.

The Blues have David Breen back from suspension and Dave Mulcahy is also back in contention for a starting place.

Kenny Browne will link back up with the squad after recovering from a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

It is not all good news for the Munster side, though, as they will be without Robert Brosnan who had his contract terminated by the club on Saturday.

Karl Bermingham is out with an ankle injury, while Daryl Kavanagh's broken leg will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Waterford boss Gareth Cronin is keenly aware of how vital tonight's game is for his side.

'This is probably our most important game of the season,' he said.

Cronin has highlighted a lack of consistency as one of his side's main problems, but is hoping a good performance tonight will bring them closer to getting out of the relegation play-off position.

Longford Town v Waterford Utd

(Flancare Park, 8.00pm Live on Setanta Sports)

Formscan: Longford WDLLL Waterford LDDLW

Betting: Longford 10/11 Waterford 13/5 Draw 11/5

Referee: H Whoriskey

Talking point: This game could decide which of these sides is a Premier Division side next season.

Team news: The Blues have David Breen back while Dave Mulcahy and Kenny Browne return but Karl Bermingham and Daryl Kavanagh are out.

Longford are without banned Kevin Doherty and Damien Brennan in addition to Jamie Duffy and David Freeman

Verdict: Draw

Bray Wanderers v Derry City

(Carlisle Grounds, 7.45pm)

Formscan: Bray DLWDD Derry WLLLD

Betting: Bray 8/5 Derry 7/5 Draw 11/5

Referee: P Tuite

Talking point: Bray's draw with Cork on Friday may have eased their relegation fears somewhat but they really need to get something here at home to Derry to stay clear of the chasing pack.

Team news: Bray have a doubt over Stephen Fox (hamstring) but welcome back Clive Delaney and Mark Duggan who both return from bans.

Pat McCourt and Ken Oman are injury worries for Derry.

Verdict: Home win

Can anyone report what is happening in the Longford game? I took home and overs, and it's 0-1, but I have no idea whether there have been many chances... thanks

Re: Irish Eircom Premier: Monday Night

There's been a crossbar hit and a penalty appead turned down mate. I'd say the good thing from the point of view of your bet is that the home team and favourites are behind and need to come out and attack.

I've got the game on now so I'll keep you updated.
