Re: Ireland 27-28/07/07

Off topic now but some people have put their money on WBA. It's not worth a risk as WBA team for tonights game doesn't have any players who beat Northampton 5-1 last Wednesday.

Mix of some first team players and youth experience will have to play Hereford. Only 6-7 good players: WestBrom.com : Match Preview - Hereford United : The Independent West Bromwich Albion Website

Hereford to win, 5.50 offered by BAW

Hereford +0.75 @1.909 offered by Pinn

I've put my money on Hereford as it might be a good risk.

F Harps are a great pricre tonight away to Cobh IMO.

7 wins out of 8 games, why the odds are so big on Harps I dont know...

Colm Tresson (heel), Paul Dunphy (fractured and dislocated wrist), Paul Caffrey (appendix), Derek Tyrrell (broken finger) and John Broderick (facial injury) will all sit this one out.

There is also doubt about Andrei Georgescu, who limped off in Galway last week with a foot injury after just twelve minutes.

Also missing will be midfielder Mark Duggan who serves a one-match ban having reached four points.

Gormley has drafted three Under-21 players into his squad, Emeka Onwubiko, Stephen Lawless and John Mulroy, and he may add another two before Friday.
got on this with small stakes before your later post , thanks , placing a small stake on Finn Harps thanks to irishtw

Re: Ireland 27-28/07/07

I ve been worried for the Harps that is is time they lost a game .
They were better than Shels some days ago, but I think it must come to an end. Still, Harps are traditionally not that bad at Co, so I am still not convinced to risk. But they wont win, so 1X can be a good solution

Sundays preview....

Preview: Derry City v Galway United

Derry City and manager John Robertson will now be concentrating on getting their domestic season back on track after their European exit in Armenia on Wednesday. First up is Galway United at the Brandywell on Sunday evening.

In seventh place, Derry are nineteen points behind league leaders Drogheda. However, from the chasing pack only Sligo won on Friday so Derry will be hoping to put together a good run of form to at least challenge for a European place. Derry have shown signs of improvement in Robertson's two league games in charge - picking up four points. However, they need to put some awful form behind them if they are to climb the table.

The first part of that rebuilding process will be to re-establish the Brandywell as a fortress. A 4-1 win over Sligo in the last game there was just their third home league win of the season. Four home defeats already equals the total number of defeats they suffered in thirty league games last season.

Robertson is likely to ring the changes for Sunday's game following Wednesday's disappointing loss. A poor defensive showing combined with inevitable travel fatigue may mean a number of changes. Peter Hutton and Sean Hargan could both be in line to return after missing the last couple of games. Darren Kelly may not be involved as he looks set to complete a move to Gretna. Backup keepers Ola Tidman and Dave McEwan again look set to miss out injured.

Galway United are in tenth place and are facing a battle to at least avoid the relegation play-off while Longford's recent form means the relegation battle itself is far from over too. Galway haven't been in bad form in recent weeks and have picked up eight points from their last six games.

Their well documented problems in winning at home mean an away trip isn't too daunting for Galway and they have picked up twelve points from eight away league games this year.

David Cooke, Stephen O'Flynn and John Russell are all in the running to play on Sunday although fitness tests are likely to decide whether they can feature or not. Alan Keane is also in the running as he continues his recovery from a long term injury. Recent signing Yeboah Mensah suffered a serious knee injury on his debut against Sligo a couple of weeks ago and could yet join Chris Armstrong on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.

Liam McKenna is also an injury concern but recent signing John Fitzgerald could make his debut for Galway in defence.

Speaking ahead of the game Galway United boss Tony Cousins said, "For me Derry are one of the top two sides in the country at the moment. Themselves and Cork are the form teams. Derry played Bohs last week and were unlucky not to have scored at least four times, so I am expecting nothing less than a tough game".

League form for Derry City : DWLLD
League form for Galway United : LDLDW

Previous meeting(s) : Derry City 2-1 Galway United (08/05/2007)
Galway United 1-1 Derry City (04/05/2007)
Derry City 2-1 Galway United (26/06/2005)
Galway United 0-1 Derry City (23/07/2004)
Galway United 2-1 Derry City (17/08/2003)
IrishFootballOnline.com Prediction: Home win.

Re: Ireland 27-28/07/07

Congrats Snowman on the 1X.
Re today's game, a few days ago I wouldve been lumping on Derry as I considered them unlucky against the Armenians in the 1st leg not to have won. But there can be no excuse for not scoring over 2 legs against them so its hard to tell how they'll do today, also considering that the've travelled halfway around the world and back, the price is a bit low for my liking so I'm gonna sit it out.

no time to write any more, Im off to the hurling 1/4 finals, c'mon Waterford!
