Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
Dundalk stretched for Thoroughbreds test
July 5, 2007 eircom League of Ireland First Division leaders Dundalk will be understrength for the visit of Kildare County to Oriel Park on Thursday evening, with four first-team regulars and top scorer Shaun Williams all unavailable. Defender Ben Whelehan, wingers Chris Doran and Keith Dunne and experienced striker Trevor Vaughan are all sidelined through either injury or suspension. And Williams, the First Division’s top marksman with eight goals this season, will play no part having returned to Drogheda United when his loan contract came to an end last weekend. Cormac McArdle, the club’s recent signing from Newry City, is likely to come into the side on the wing. Robbie Doyle, the former Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic star who arrived at the club on Wednesday, is likely to be named on the bench if his registration comes through on time. Philip Hughes, available again after suspension, and Paul Smyth should link up in attack. Kildare are without Dundalk native Fiachra McArdle but could hand a debut to Conor McDonald, who signed on loan from Waterford United this week. Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
Athlone Town v Cobh Ramblers
While Athlone have been pretty constant in their results at home, beating Kilkenny, Wexford Youths and Shelbourne, the 3 worst travelers in the league, drawing with Finn Harps and Monaghan and losing to Kildare and Limerick, results that comply with the opponents respective away positions. Cobh Ramblers lead the home chart having conceded only 3 goals from 9 matches, theyre an absolute fortress at home. Cobh's away form isnt impressive but h2h results show there arnt many draws which made me favor an AW 05-05-07 Cobh Ramblers Athlone 3 : 0 1. Division 2007 06-10-06 Athlone Cobh Ramblers 2 : 1 1. Division 2006 05-08-06 Cobh Ramblers Athlone 2 : 0 1. Division 2006 02-06-06 Athlone Cobh Ramblers 0 : 2 1. Division 2006 25-03-06 Cobh Ramblers Athlone 0 : 0 1. Robertson is new Derry boss
John Robertson has been confirmed as the new manager of Derry City having signed a one and a half year deal with the Brandywell club. He will be present when Derry take on Cobh Ramblers at Saint Colman's Park tonight where he will meet the Derry squad for the first time. Robertson's managerial experience includes spells at Livingston, Ross County, Hearts and Inverness. He also won sixteen caps for Scotland with most of his playing career spent at Hearts. Jul 03 2007 GO with him for the first win! 1.91 for home win is a present!

Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
Shamrock, Drogheda and St Pats all look favourable for away wins tonight based on current form and league placings any reason why i should think about not backing any of the above ??

Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
Longford Town(DNB) V Shamrock Rovers @2/1: Far too big a price here for me against a side who have overachieved this season in my opinion. Rovers lie 4th n the league but they haven't really impressed me. They've been scraping wins here and there and the bookies have overreacted I reckon.
Longford have been playing better lately and were unlucky against a good Cork side last week. Rovers have a poor record down in Longford and have won just once in 6 games. Longford have Kevin Doherty back which will help their cause this evening. Athlone V Cobh @Evens: Athlone are in turmoil, playing terrible football and losing matches left right and centre. Worse still they're manager left them during the week and that news is enough for me to go for Cobh tonight. Confidence will be low and in the Athlone camp and they're up against a side determined to win to close the gap on leaders Dundalk. Away win for me. Shelbourne V Wexford Youths @10/11: Shelbourne have impressed me this season putting in some spirited performances against all the odds. They've signed a few players in the transfer window which will give the squad a timely boost. Wexford have been poor in the second third of the season and they may not be able to stop a determined young shelbourne side. Verdict: Longford(DNB) @2/1 Cobh @Evens Shels @10/11 Thats it from me for a while. Off on me hols for a few weeks. Good luck to all the Eircom League betters. Cheerio. |

Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
No one else fancing Limerick to take three points at Monaghan for juicy 2.2? Monaghan recent performance has been very inconsistent and considering the team news I think Limerick will take today's chance to add needed points to their account.

Re: Ireland 6-9/7/2007
3 picks for me over the weekend...
Drogheda at 1/1 for me as they have recaptured good form over the last few weeks and i think they'll be raring to go having had their game postponed last monday night. Finn Harps have been in super form in the league the past 6/7 games and that alone is enough to back them on saturday. 1/1 Cobh put in a good showing against Derry midweek and have been playing well in the league as well as the fact the athlone camp is hardly in great order. 10/11 Good luck folks and have a good holiday chief |
