Exotica/ Backwater Football
Ok... You know I seldom post.. Only when there is a game which, if the result doesn't go the way it is supposed to, gives rise to strong suspicion of 'Kelong', which is the Malay word for fishing outpost (ie. the match is fishy)
Ok. Today is Woodlands Rams vs Korean Super Reds.
In terms of standard and class, it should only be a question of how many for Woodlands. But then with the Rams strange things tend to happen. I've watched the Super Reds a couple of times this season and they live up to their name. If I am not wrong there have been almost as many red cards against them as goals they scored so that tells you the picture.
The Rams on their hand intersperse periods of sheer brilliance with large tracts of mediocrity and lace it with moments of unbelievable amateurism. The Koreans, some locals say, are amateurs to begin with, a lot of them being university students. But they are slowly beginning to adapt to the weather but still.....
Of course in football anything is possible but if Woodlands don't win today, then many might say the intervention is more human than divine, more off pitch than on.
The local government bookmaker is giving 1.15 for Woodlands win which is a joke but it has fallen to 1.10 which is more like it. The 'professional' but illegal bookmakers have priced them 1.05 which is just about right.
Now the AH is a bit interesting. -2.5 for the Woodies and that might be a problem.
Anyway, so much for football in the land our neighbours call the 'Red Dot'. Happy Punting, if you so choose of course.
