If Argentina go on to win it I can see it all being orchestrated by him - did you see his stats last night? For an individual player he made the most passes in a World Cup game since 1966.

The entire Greek side combined only made 1 more pass last night than Veron did himself the entire game

Over the 3 games for most games I don't think we have really seen an outstanding consistent player yet bar Veron.

Many have lit up one game and done nothing the other 2.

Trying to think of some others off the top of my head but I gotta admit I am pretty stumped at the minute!

I was going to say the same thing about Messi, ODM. He seems to be responsible for a lot of their goals and he has the benefit of hype which is really what matters. ODM I purely said Veron as I thought his odds would be value and 125/1 is that whereas Messi is probably a fifteenth of that!

I don't think anybody has really stood out yet, the players mentioned have all been decent but nobody ahs really grabbed the tournament by the balls, it may come though now were into the second round as it filters out the men from the boys on the qualifying performances and after tonights performance by Japan Honda is up there with the best of them but i won't be banging any money on him, the world cup starts once the knockouts begin and then we'll see our man of the tournament.

I see nobodys mentioned Ozil, I'm mentioning him as he's caught my eye probably because I've hardly seen him play before and stood out, most of the players mentioned in this thread are players who we know what to expect of.
I also suppose the player who wins the golden ball is a player who's in the team that lifts the cup, can any stat wallers out there confirm that.
