How to make the world cup more interesting?

How about have no last 16 round and have only the group winners go straight through to the quarter finals. Teams may well try to win some games then.

I'm sure once upon a time they had just 2 leagues of 8 and every fuker played every fuker else and the winners of the 2 groups played out the final.

The point is money and marketing.

In the same way as the so called "champions league" will soon be contended by every team who finishes in the top half of their top league, so the WC has to have as many teams qualifying as is physically possilble to squeeze into a month of games.

There's no logical reason why mini leagues should be any more interesting than group games you clown. Teams would still start their first game not wanting to lose.

You're also forgetting that some of the knockout games are also boring as fuck with teams holding out for extra time and / or penalties.

For one half, each side has to field a team of 100 spastic kids to compete in place of their regular first 11.

I played in a football match between the men's rugby team and the female hockey team , the men's team had to play in wellies , it resulted in a high scoring match and a lot of blisters.

It must be remebered that this was played in Wales and our footwear ensured that we were well prepared for our post match debauchery

Oh, and a genuine thought from me would be to make football 9 a-side. And the goals bigger. People forget the game was invented when the average height of goalies was around 5'8. Why shouldn't the game evolve as technology and people evolve? I'm sick to death of shit teams being able to pack the defence and close down and stop good teams playing. Arrrrrrrgh.
