Seems an age since the football season finished and its took another age for this day to come, Its like an adult version of waiting for Christmas.
At last its here, the first game in a few hours time

Every World cup is special and I have a feeling this will be up there with the best of them, mainly because its the first one in Africa and they will want to put on a show, I'll be shouting for SA tomorrow for as long as they stay in the competition it will be a special occassion just like it was in Seoul with the Koreans only times it by 10 as the Africans don't do anything in halfs and are not as reserved.

I'm not expecting anything from England this time around but will shout for them all the way, as I've allready mentioned i'll be happy for us to get to the quarters, expecting anything more usually ends in heartbreak.

I'll be taking the games for what they are this time around and thats a festival of football, i'm going to enjoy these games like never before and lap up the footy without my blinkered three lion specs on, so long as there's no cheating may the best team win.

I'm looking forward to the occasion even although Scotland aren't there. I think the host will be poor and have backed them to get beat in all their games. Mexico, Uruguay and even a poor French side should be too strong for them

It will be interesting to see how this new ball affects this WC - especially Ronaldo and co that can punish a dead ball. The only down side I think will be the Zaa Zaa Zooos or what ever they are called - ok in small doses they look and sound fun but 24/7 - feck right off

With a few games kicking off at 3pm I'm thinking about asking my boss if i can start early

I know where you're coming from Mickey! My brain says Mexico but my heart says SA. Guillem Balague even made the point that the referee was hand picked by Sepp Blatter. That to me smells funny as anything that guy does has corruption written all over it!

I don't think SA are as bad as people make out. They're not great but they move the ball about rather well. I remember them playing very well against Spain in the confeds cup last year too:
