Thanks Slick
Yeah i guess there's not many thinking the same as me, and it's fair point.
I just see it as a little bit of possible value should he get a group game or a an appearance for 20 minutes off the bench.
I'm just thinking of the form he was in from the start of the season till around xmas (not a bad 2nd half of the season too). In those first 5 months he was on fire for Spurs, he was in every fuckers dream team at work that's for sure.
His international record isn't that bad either, i've taken this bit from Wikipedia..
Quote:
Defoe was initially omitted from Fabio Capello's first squad with the new manager insisting he would only select players who were playing regular club football. One day after scoring on his Portsmouth debut Defoe was recalled to the England squad to replace the injured Gabriel Agbonlahor.[68] Defoe took his international goals tally up to five in the Caribbean on 1 June 2008 when he scored twice against Trinidad and Tobago and in the process staking a claim for a more regular place in the international team.[69]
Defoe scored his first competitive international goal of 2008 with the final goal in England's 5–1 win over Kazakhstan on 11 October 2008 after coming on as a late sub for Wayne Rooney. He also scored two goals in three minutes against Andorra in a 2009 World Cup qualifier.[70]
His 2009–10 season got off to the perfect start as he came from the bench to score both goals in the 2–2 draw against the Netherlands at the Amsterdam ArenA on 12 August 2009 and was announced as man of the match.[71]

Totesport were biggest @ 11/1 yesterday, Coral were 4/1, that's a big difference of opinion.
I just think he will take any opportunity he get's, he'll be trying his very best to make sure he's hard to leave out, he'll be going for the carrot big time, he just needs to be given the opportunity.
