Re: To make the England WC Squad.
Ok, rant time..
Why exactly did Fabio come out and say, however long ago it was, that he would be picking people on form not on rep? It was a total lie because that is exactly what he has done..Heskey? Carrick? SWP? J.Cole?, with the possible exception of Carrick none of them can even get into their club sides..Heskey is the worst of the lot, bet he doesnt even get a minute of gametime.. A.Johnson should have gone for me, think he is a cracking player, Parker should have gone, Paul Robinson should have gone (based on club form), I mean Christ..look at that squad, its so uninspiring its untrue, for me he had the opportunity to make some brave decisions that alot of people (me included) would have applauded him for..everyone knows we're crap anyway, who gives a shit!? Whatever team he picks will not win the WC but at least do what you said you were going to do.. What do we look forward to now!? A team of cunts we have all seen screw up continuously on the international scene given one last chance to get it right! Its the most unpopular team I can possibly imagine..Terry? Wanker, A.Cole? Wanker, Ferdinand? Wanker..he has picked the safest, most stale squad prob any of us could have picked, and he in my eyes is now a lying, gutless, maggot who will fuck off hopefully after the WC and piss off back to Italy, why the fuck are we paying him 6mill a year to pick that durge? Its totally beyond me.. |

Re: To make the England WC Squad.
Where the fcuks Robinson come into it
I'd have picked him as well but he werent in the 30 so its yesterdays argument.Huddlestone I dont think ever had much of a chance & although I've always liked Scott Parker hes simply not international class. If he decided he wanted cover at left back then he simply couldnt pick Baines after what he said about homesickness, opening the door for Warnock. Must admit I didnt think that either would go as I thought Carragher was his cover there as well. Only thing I can think of is that Warnock did play a fair amount in midfield for Blackburn so hes in the utility bracket. Dawsons too error prone but I'd rather have him in there instead of Upson, I'll give you that, dont rate either tbh. Adam Johnson I thought would make it tbh, & think he should have gone instead of SWP, who is going backwards IMO. Walcott I think the same of, going backwards or at least standing still but I did think he'd go. Quite suprised at that. Anybody who didnt think Heskey would go is deluded, simple as. I dont particularly like him either & I'm Villa, because no matter how much other work he does his goals record simply cant be defended, but the simple fact is that Rooney prefers to play alongside him. Rooneys last 10 games with Heskey - 9 goals, without - 2 goals. No way on this earth wasnt he going, & he'll play as well. God forbid I think his going shows how reliant we are on Rooney tbh. Personally I'd rather see Bent in instead of him it was never going to happenWondered about Joe Cole but glad hes there. I'd have took Johnson instead of SWP & I suppose I'd have took Bent instead of Upson, I think ![]() |

Re: To make the England WC Squad.
Yeah the Robinson arguments been brewing in me for a while! Think he is a better keeper than James and Green, remember reading an interview with Allardyce not long ago and he was outraged he wasnt in the squad..didnt write anything that other people wearnt thinking prob, but I really dont understand the thinking behind this..

Re: To make the England WC Squad.
Walcott and SWP are the same sort of player , fast , and , er , thats it really..
Heskeys a joke and i wouldnt have taken Terry and Gerrard , they have both had a shit season form wise , god knows what Fabio has been watching all season , but it aint been " form players "..... |

Re: To make the England WC Squad.
I don't know how he's come to his conclusions, like mentioned i can only think he's playing it safe, he must have been in two minds about Walcott as he did give him the benefit of the last two friendlies to prove his worth and he fcuked it so there's no arguments there.
I would have liked to see Adam Johnson getting a similar chance too as by all accounts he was shit hot on the training ground while away with England but alas Capello thinks he's not good enough while watching him for the 6 minutes he got against Mexico, still he's only a young lad and will get his chance again but it pisses me off to see Capello tinkering with right footers on the left wing when Johnson is probably the most natural left footer in the whole squad, if he thinks SWP is going to do a job there then I'm afraid he's going to be in for a shock, even on the right wing he's gotten into a habit of running into the back of defenders because he's lost a yard of pace. At least he's had the sense to pick Joe Cole, he may have missed most of the season but he's the only quality playmaker we have and it was good to see him playing in the middle against Japan rather than being stuck out on the left, if Joe's fit and can find his form then he'll be invaluable to us during these finals. The only suprise to me was Warnock getting in, I didn't see that coming and can only think it was because Baines had a mare against Mexico and looked out of his depth rather than just mentioning homesickness, I don't have great aspirations for us anyhow with the team we have and I'd have felt the same if Capello was allowed to take all 30 players to the finals, were lacking world class quality in far to many areas and I'd be happy to see us reach the quarters, anything above that will be a bonus imo. |

Re: To make the England WC Squad.
I agree with most of that Slick. The two biggest shocks for me was Walcott not going and Warnock going.
I wanted Walcott to go but, as you say, hes been given more than enough chances and not taken them. So what happens if the manager takes him and he plays has two mares? The critics jump on Capello's back and say, what did you expect, his last two games were shit too. I think that Joe Cole will turn out to be the one that turns a key match when it comes to the crunch. I think Glen Johnson will turn out to be the star at the back, despite all the tried and trusted "usual suspects" around him. I think either Johnson or Milner will be England's player of the tournement. Milner was always going to go because, apart from his undoubted class in midfield, he's probably the one England player who could play in any position if it came to the crunch. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench in the first game as he could be invaluable if England progress to a decent stage (and he can take a mean penalty )I think we will get through the group stage and then every game can pretty much go either way. You need a lot of luck but there's nothing in this squad to suggest that England have any better chance than, say, seven other of the teams who are at the top of the betting so it's all a toss of a coin (or a bounce of a ball -or a keeper letting a ball drift over his head from 40 fucking yards out )My little dabble on Micah Richards didn't pay off but you could have made a profit on laying these pair ![]() Quote:
