Re: World Cup Group D
I'm looking into this & I know Komps remark about Germany being a good price to beat the Serbs was an interest searcher but I couldnt disagree more.
I think the Serbs look a decent side although I've got to look deeper before committing dosh, but I think they look a good price against Ghana & a cracker against Germany. They also play Australia last which could be handy & I fancy them to qualify pretty easily. The interesting point is that the runner up here will likely play England and neither will want that. I think the Serbs can beat a Ballack-less Germany & if not then get a draw & outscore them in the other games, they finished top of Frances group remember. If they can do that then they're likely to play either Slovenia or USA & I'd fancy them there too, leading them into a potential quarter against Argentina, which again I wouldnt rule them out of. Only looked at Stan James as yet but theyre 6/1 to go out in the quarters & 18/1 in the semis. I'm looking pretty hard around & I reckon if theres a shoch semi finalist in this WC its them |

Re: World Cup Group D
Interesting thoughts on Serbia,Swoopers, and the odds look even better at betfred 20s to go out the semis and paddypowers 6's to go out the quarters,5pts on each.
Thought you was all about cricket betting Swoops, didnt realise you knew anything about football betting, nice to know now tho ![]() Thats my world cup betting started ![]() Last edited by FC Basher : 20-05-2010 at 22:51. |

Re: World Cup Group D
GERMANY
Comment: Like most of the last major tournaments Germany is an underdog. The team managed to produce surprising results throughout the years, reaching the final most of the times. But now it is a different story - the team lost its captain through injury. The regular keeper should be Butt because of various inforunities. The guy is experienced and has good qualities, but has not played often for the national team. The defense looks solid, despite the relatively young age of the players, so if Germany manage a performance in South Africa, it will be thanks to this line. Upfront there is nothing remarkable except the young Ozil and Kiessling. To sum up, Germany should be happy if they pass the group, let alone win the tournament. GHANA Comment: Serbia has finally a generation with a world class defense. So now its the perfect time for the Balkan side to achieve something remarkable. The Serbs have always played as a unit and with the guidance of Antic there is no doubt the team is ready for big things. Midfield and forwards are OK to score a single goal in the matches, and with Vidic and Ivanovic at the back this should be sufficient for wins. AUSTRALIA Comment: Australia is a sympathetic team - the team shows good tactical and skill qualities. This is influence from the Dutch coaches they prefer to work with. Unfortunatelly for them, the Ozzies are among the hardest group in the World Cup and will be a remarkable achievement for them to secure a point here. Last Cup they almost upset the world by battling hard against Italy, but now all Ghana, Serbia and Germany have more qualities at disposal. Australia has a stable keeper and decent midfield, but the inexperienced defense will trip them at South Africa. SERBIA Comment: Serbia has finally a generation with a world class defense. So now its the perfect time for the Balkan side to achieve something remarkable. Re: World Cup Group D
I think it should be this as those comments are posted on about half a dozen other sites..
Comment: Ghana is the team that impressed us the most in the recently finished CAN. The team used its physical strength to defend and they did it well. The team has the ability to close the match once they get the lead, and if they apply it here Ghana has all the chances to progress. The team has sufficient quality in all the lines, but most important they work as a unit. A difficult team to play against and looks Under-ish. |

Re: World Cup Group D
I'd be wary of backing Serbia as similar things were said about them before the last world cup.
They qualified for that with the best defensive record in the european qualifying groups but still got hammered 6-0 by Argentina and finished last in their group with 0 points. Germany always seem to be written off but always seem, somehow, to get to at least the quarter finals |

Re: World Cup Group D
Ghana got absolutely mullered in the quarter and semi of the ACN and yet won both games. Looked poor to me,in a tourny with very little quality throughout.
Germany are ok, even without Ballack, and their organisation may see them through. Australia are pretty gash and will struggle to score judging by what I saw against NZ 2 days ago. Serbia are similair tbh but do have a cutting edge and in another tight group id take Germany & Serbia to sneak through |

Re: World Cup Group D
I honestly have no idea who will qualify alongside Germany here. All other 3 squads can be bright on their day, but could really disappoint on their off day. I had hopes for Ghana's young team, but without the 'expert' Michael Essien I had better not chance it.
