Shame when a person dies during the particiaption of a sport as it seems a waste of talent, even more so when its an accident rather than a natural occurrence..

I didn't realise it starts in a couple of hrs, If Britain are doing well in an event i usually watch it , which means i don't get to watch that much of it.

poor fella flipped over and left the track and went into a metal upright at the side of the track. hope he didn't suffer too much.

Very sad accident, indeed. Just watched it, don't know what's the common practice, but to situate steel pillars at about 50cm from the track looks just mental to me.

Seems they have now built the fence higher , although there was no problem with it..

I agree with you engineer and winrew , it was an accident but that part of the track looked dangerous , no protection on those girders , they could have had some kind of padding similar to those around rugby posts , don't know if it waould have made a difference at that speed
