Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
Outrights (Women):
Kim Clijsters @12. Justine Henin @9.8 Anna Petkovic @300 Lay Serena to win her quarter @1.75 (5 point lay- Liability 3.75) Was impressed with Clijsters at Eastbourne last week where she demolished her opponents in the early rounds. She lost a close two setter against Azarenka in the quarter finals but she played well and should be a live contender over the next couple of weeks. Azarenka @40's would seem an obvious bet seeing as she beat Clijsters but she has played hardly any tennis this year and has been plagued with injuries. Too risky. Henin warmed up for this event by winning a grass tournament in Holland over the weekend. It wasn't a particularly strong field but she showed great heart coming back from a set and a break down in the final against Petkovic. Henin has won every Grand Slam bar Wimbledon and completing a career Grand Slam was one of the main reasons she came out of retirement. This is the big one for her. People say she isn't great on grass but out of all the chicks playing here this week only Venus has won more titles on the surface. Also she has reached two finals here so she can't be that bad! Petkovic is a speculative outside bet. Pushed Henin close last week in Holland and reaching the final will have given her confidence. Has a very hard draw though. Plays Chakvetzadze in the first round which should be a very tight match. After that it's Serena. I have a feeling though that Serena is vulnerable this year and I can see the winner of Chak and Petkovic causing a 2nd round upset. Which leads me to my final bet in the Womens. Lay Serena to win her 1/4 @1.75 (5 Points- Liability 3.75) Think Serena is worth a lay here as she is arguably in the toughest quarter. Even her first round match is no gimme. De Brito is one of teh rising stars on tour and should test Serena. In the second round she will play either Chakvetadze or Petkovic which has got banana skin written all over it. Add to that an improving Sharapova, Radwanska, Na Li and in form Dani Hantuchova and teh 1.75 looks a bit too skinny. |

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
Mens Tournament:
Soderling @24. In the form of his life and is probably the 3rd best player in teh world right now what with Murray and Djokovic having patchy seasons thus far. Beaten by Fed in 3 close sets in the last 16 this year. Could abe worth chancing to turn the tables on teh master this year. Murray to win his quarter @2.14: Murray has got a golden opportunity to get to the Semis. He's been handed probably the easiest draw he could have hoped for. He's got Simon who is hopelessly out of form. Verdasco, Almagro and Ferrero who play their best stuff on clay. Benneteau who has been and always will be an average player and Tsonga who has gone horribly backwards over the past year. Verdasco is 2nd fav in the quarter yet he has never got past the last 16. Tsonga has the potential to raise his game and defeat Murray but I can't see it happening. Murray form hasn't been too hot lately either in fairness but he generally performs at the Slams (reached Aussie Open final in Jan)and this being his "home tournament" you'd expect him to be at the races over the next couple of weeks. |

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
1st Rd Matches:
2 pts Mayer to beat Monfils @2.76. Very good potential for a minor shock here as Monfils as having a desperate year. Hasn't progressed beyond a quarter final this year and has been beaten by Schuettler, Starace and shame of shames Fognini in his last 3 tournaments. Hasn't played at Wimbledon since 2007 either. Mayers no world beater but he gave 10th seed Fernando Gonzalez a good match last year and has a chance here. 3 points Istomin V Wawrinka Over 39.5 games @4/5: This one looks like it could be a very close game. Istomin played well in Eastbourne and Queens (Very narrow defeat to Nadal at Queens) while Wawrinka lost an epic 5 setter in the last 16 here last year against Murray. 3 points acca: Youzhny, Davydenko, Baghdatis, Garcia-Lopez @2.23/1 4 points Radwanska 2-0 @1.32. Should be a stroll for the Pole. Czinks game is in tatters! |

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
No time to go into any details, but two bets for me so far (not had time to look into everything yet).
Daniilidou tb Wozniak @ 2.34 3pts Arn tb K Bondarenko @ 3.3 1.5pts May also go along with Chief on L Mayer to beat Monfils. You're a brave man backing Davydenko on grass though, Chief ![]() |

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
Yeah, not usually advisable to back Davy on grass but Anderson is in my view even worse on the surface (Only ever qualified once for the tournie) and as well as that he retired injured at Eastbourne last week so I'm hoping he's not 100%.

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
One more bet I like is Clijsters V Camerin under 16.5 games @5/6 (Paddy Power) Clijsters showed no mercy to the lower ranked players at Eastbourne last week. She lost just 3 games in 2 matches against Safarova and Wickmayer(both of whom are ranked higher than todays opponent) Match starts in 5 mins.
3 points Clijsters V Carmin Under 16.5 games @5/6 |

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
RC, what's your reasons to back Danilidou?

Re: WIMBLEDON 2010
Sorry Rioma, bit late now (not least because the game's well underway), had no time before, but she's a decent grass court player, came through qualifying comfortably (took out two of the seeds 6-2 6-2 and then 6-0 6-0), while Wozniak has had a rough spell of late, got a few wins in qualifying at Eastbourne but then losing to Heather Watson was a poor result, happy to take Daniilidou as an underdog.
Anyone watching Federer? What the hell's happening there? |
