Re: The Tennis Thread - 2010
After the crazy Wimbledon back to the ordinary tournaments and the ordinary dust (how I miss the grass
). We have two men's events - at Bastad and Stuttgart and two ladies' - at Palermo and Prague. No bets for me today, tomorrow we'll have more action. I'm looking forward the performance of London semifinalist Pironkova. By default clay should be her best surface, hopefully she'll keep the moment and show what she's capable of. Anyway, I'll be very cautious with her . |

Rezai-Hradecka Double (3.06 @ Ladbrokes)
Not touched tennis for a bit, but I'm itching to get going again with some fairly decent bets on today. Not sure what's the fuss with Oprandi, but I don't reckon home advantage will mean much as the gulf in class is just too wide - Rezai has really stepped up a gear since her win in Madrid (reminds me of a young David Ferrer who really came on after winning a match through default against Malisse for swearing ) and should have too much for Oprandi.Hradecka is my personal bet for the day - totally different class from the bunch of average journeywomen on clay and when she's up for it. Considering she's playing at home, I'd fancy her chances even more (she should easily be a 5/6 joint-favourite on clay against Medina Garrigues if this tourny was played anywhere else, nevermind at home). Medina Garrigues has been very mediocre lately and I don't read too much into her "win" earlier in the season when Hradecka retired a week before the French Open commenced. On the back of what I have seen this week, Hradecka has got the beating of Medina Garrigues for this... |

Benjamin Becker vs. Michael Russel. Russel 2.5 to win @ Ladbrokes
Head to head 3-1 in Russel's favour. Russel will also have the benefit of home support, as well as being superior on the hard surface. |

Re: The Tennis Thread - 2010
I've been looking down the fixtures for today and spotted Hajek vs Ferrero. Ferrero has beaten him on both occasions they met on Grass and Hard surfaces.
Hajek is an out and out clay court player who is in better form, against Ferrero who is mixed between clay, hard and grass. At 3.75, I think it's worth a punt. |
