Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

I've backed Murray ew at 4/1. The reason? Because I hate the Scot turd.

That is the extent of my tennis knowledge.

I thank you.

I see the Williams brothers are favourites in the women's comp'.

Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

I've been backing Murray for most of the last two weeks from just over 6/1 down to 9/2 and he now is one of my biggest punts in a long time. His serve is firing far better than it ever has before, and its been his inability to win cheap points that I think has cost him in the long format of a slam before.

Add in the question marks over Nadal, the poor form of Djokovic, the fact that most of the outsiders are either those that are really more at home on clay or hard courts, or with injury doubts, and Murray looks a worthy 2nd fav. I will potentially lay off if he faces a reasonably solid looking Nadal in the semis, but other than that, he's got a great shout of making the final.

If it's vs Fed, then he's played and beaten him enough times to know what to do.

My mini union jack with 'Marry Me Tiger Tim' crossed out is at the ready

The draw is up btw.
I'll look at it later, but Nadal has a tricky opponent in the 1st round...

that opponent must have frightened him as Nadal is out of Wimbledon according to the bbc

story here BBC SPORT | Tennis | Champion Nadal out of Wimbledon

Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

Tsonga seems quite a popular pick as an outsider with the tennis pundits (just reading their predictions at the BBC site here ) along with Del Potro.

Is that betfair odds engineer?

Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

Yes, betfair's (before commisison)

It's hard to say Tsonga is an outsider at a grass event. On grass he's capable of beating everyone, but I still remeber how he was outplayed by brilliant Haas in Halle two weeks ago. Still, I reckon this pirce for Tsonga is more than decent...

Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

Hi guys, this is my first time posting my bets here, hopes to receive some comments from all of you ^^

Maybe I should first introduce myself, I am a daily gambler and a good reader. I read lots of different web-sites everyday and finalized my bets usually at this time of the day.

On daily basis, I play tennis first, then if I got a negative balance by the end of the last tennis match, then I read about soccers later. If it happens to be a really bad day, then I will look into MLB and Volleyballs.

I know nothing much about anything. As I say, I just read a lot.

Today's tennis is what I will start with:

10 units
Blake
Hass
Llodra
Clinic
Sela
Tsonga
Lopez (expected win in 3~4 sets)
Wozinak + under (expected win in 3 sets)
Istomin
Berdych
GGL
Sperm

5units

Andreev + over (expected win in 4~5 sets)
Gicquel + over (expected win in 4~5 sets)

GL to all

Re: Wimbledon 2009 Betting

Just a quick selection for Day 1...

10pts @ 4.56 Hills (6-fold acca)

Almagro
Lopez
Pavlyuchenkova
Hantuchova
Dulko
Sharapova

Lopez has got to be the bet of the day considering how consistently he has been making at least the third round over the years - Beck simply isn't in his league.

Almagro-Monaco is clearly a mismatch on paper and I can't help feeling Almagro is massively overpriced here. While both aren't much of a grasscourt player, Almagro's overall pedigree on grass certain would prove telling.

Dulko, Pavlyuchenkova, Hantuchova and Sharapova are pretty straightforward bets today for their opponents consist of mainly inexperienced youth or incompetent journey-women struggling to get by in the pro circuit. In short, the gulf in class is simply too wide.

Cheers & Good Luck!

Starting Bank: 100.00pts
Current Bank: 100.00pts
