Re: Rolland Garros 2009
And the last speculative bet for me will be Crivoi against Mofils @5 - 2pts
The young Romanian could surprise against the big guns, he's extremely tallented and likes the clay more tahn any other surface. With the injury concerns about Monfils still pending I could risk a couple of points here and wait for a nice opportunity to lay my stake off. |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
Running out of time, so a brief sypnosis of my bets for today...
20pts @ 3.40 Ladbrokes (3-fold acca) Mathieu (to win 1st set and match) Haas Clement Mathieu should take out Andujar with ease - pretty much self-explanatory. Haas and Clement have both got to be the value bets of the day. Think too much has been made of their opponents' respective first round feats. Mayer beat Blake, but that came as little surprise to me considering how poor Blake is on clay (he only really bucked that trend recently on Estoril). This is a no brainer - Haas is far more competent and a much more resilient battler than Blake. Expect him to take care of Mayer with ease. Similarly, Rochus has been woefully inconsistent on clay (admittedly his best surface) and too much has been made of his win over Santoro who quite simply is past it. Clement is no world beater himself, but having beaten Tursunov, it's hard to see how Rochus has got the game to trouble the Frenchman tremendously. Throw in the fact he's got the home crowd behind him, it's hard to oppose him. 20pts @ 3.48 Ladbrokes (3-fold acca) Mathieu -7.5 Games Monaco -2.5 Games Quite frankly, Andujar doesn't belong in this league. The fact that he beat a totally hopeless claycourt player in Ginepri to get to the 2nd Round shouldn't mask that fact. Mathieu is definitely at least two notches above Ginepri and I can't see Andujar even running Mathieu close. Assuming the Frenchman takes this in 3, 7.5 is a very beatable handicap. How Monaco is trading at -2.5 is beyond me. Tsonga beat Benneteau, which was great, but he hardly set the world ablaze with that performance - in short, I thought that was a predictable result. Monaco has really come on in leaps and bounds during this year's claycourt season and if he can reproduce half the sort of form he showed in Rome, he should walk this. Re: Rolland Garros 2009
I have got to agree with what some have said about Ferrero - he should start this as the favourite and should win this quite comfortably so long as the 5-setter against Ljubicic hasn't taken too much out of him.
Kohlschreiber is woefully inconsistent and has a terrible pedigree at Grand Slam level. Some other bets I think worth a flutter for the more adventurous today would include Crivoi (although his lack of experience could tell) and Stosur (Wickmayer is a bloody choker - can't see her beating Stosur, truth be told)... |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
Just placed a small wager on Andreev - he's 1-2 down in the decider, 30-30 (on serve) in the final set as I write...

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
Very tough day yesterday, luckily I kept my stakes relatively low.
Ferrero - Kohli still pending, everything could happen there. What a set of fixtures we have today... For me it's extremely hard to try to guess the winner of most of the games. Will try to make a bit of an analysis and come up with several bets. |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
OK, starting off with the games where a clear favourite faces an outsider, but I'll try the dogs' chances - won't be greedy, will only fancy nicking a set...
Lay Verdasco 3-0 against Almagro @1.96 - to win 8 pts Lay Gonzalez 3-0 against Ouanna @1.67 - to win 6 pts Lay Murray 3-0 against Tipsarevic @2.18 - to win 7 pts |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
The same with the ladies:
Lay Ivanovic 2-0 against Benesova @1.55 - to win 6 pts Lay Rezai 2-0 against De Brito @1.77 - to win 6 pts. I won't be surprised if Brito eliminates the French, she is really, really tallented and should be one of the next big stars of the WTA. But since I have her as an outright bet won't risk more money here to back her to win the game. Lay Williams 2-0 against Szavay @2.06 - to win 9 pts Szavay @3.5 - 4 pts Agnes is showing good form and is capable of seeing Venus off. Williams was quite shaky against Safarova and I don't think she'll improve much for this one. Szavay has to keep a reasonable serve percentage and low number of unforced errors and she could prevail here. Lay Li 2-0 against Govortsova @1.64 - to win 7 pts |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
17.10pts @ 3.01 Ladbrokes (5-fold acca)
Davydenko Safina Li Na Sharapova Murray Davydenko has got to be the bet of the day for me. He's just far more solid and dependable than Wawrinka, especially on clay. Davydenko's about to start as I write... The other 4 are pretty straightforward IMO. Cheers & Good Luck! ![]() Starting Bank: 100.00 pts Current Bank: 17.10 pts Profit/Loss: -82.90 pts |

Re: Rolland Garros 2009
21.47pts @ 3.58 Ladbrokes (9-fold acca)
Kuznetsova 2-0 Dementieva Radwanska Roddick Tsonga Robredo Djokovic Wozniacki Federer Shan't go into too much detail for all those priced 1.10 or lower as they look pretty self-explanatory to me. Radwanska, Roddick, Dementieva and Robredo are priced at 1.20, 1.20, 1.25 and 1.22 respectively. While Bondarenko has done well to beat Schnyder in a previous round, it's worth noting Radwanska has a knack of playing her way into a tournament and improves as the tourny goes along. Truth be told, Radwanska has won her first two matches rather convincingly in straight sets despite not having played her best tennis - got to fancy her here. Roddick too has come on somewhat on clay over the last couple of years and the result of that hard work should see him overcome spent force like Gicquel rather easily. Let's be honest - taking out Beck and Schuettler is hardly the toughest task one could ask for and would in no way equip Gicquel for Roddick. Robredo has been a consistent performer at RG down the years, making frequent visits to the 4th Round and QF. Maximo Gonzalez hasn't set the tournament alight, but did well to beat Fish in the first round. That said, Fish is not a notable claycourt player and neither is he renowned for delivering at the Grand Slams (however well he does at the smaller ATP tournies). Expect Robredo to have too much for Gonzalez. Lastly, Stosur is primarily a hardcourt player and having gotten here on the back of beating Wickmayer in 3, it's hard to see how she could trouble the far more experienced Dementieva. While I'd fancy Stosur's chances more on a hardcourt, the gulf in class between the pair is just too huge on clay IMO.
