Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

What a match! And what a tiebreak
It all comes to Verdasco - he's winning and he's losing signifacant part of the points. If he manages to reduce the number of the UEs it will be much harder for Nadal to stay in the game.

Now, serious, what a tennis they play!!! GIANTS! I'll remember for long time Nadal going outside the camera range chasing the ball and after that winning the point
And Verdasco ... a giant. If that was Federrer he would have gone home long time ago, well beaten.
But Fed is biggest winner today, I reckon. Can this game last 6 hours or so ?

Good stuff Engineer

Fantastic match, but as you say, I think Federer will be the biggest winner there. Whose bright idea was it to play the men's semis on different days? The schedule for the semis was ridiculous - surely both should be played on the same day. Instead for some reason they go and play three semis on the Thursday (both women's and one of the men's), then the remaining men's semi on the Friday. I can't for the life of me see the logic in that.

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

Never ever thought Fernando had a match like that in him - great punting there engineer. Good news for Federer - not only does the (ridiculous) scheduling and the 5 setter today give him a big advantage, he also had a great opportunity to see a few flaws in Rafa's game. Fed, like Verdasco, is serving brilliantly and I think he has a big edge in the final.

Will watch the first few games and make a decision on whether to cover the stake on Rafa or not - and then sit back and enjoy what should be a great final

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

I'd say so Rado. Fed still has the upper hand on hard courts and the way he's been serving - I cant see him being under too much pressure early on on his own serve, and so I'm going to wait to see how he does on the Nadal serve where we should get plenty of balls back in play and a chance to see them trade.

If Nadal looks lively and isn't under too much pressure on serve, then maybe at around 4-4 or 5-5 I'll look to cover at about 2.30ish, just to cover the Federer stake.

If Fed can get an early break, then I'll let it run, but maybe do the same as above if Fed looks dodgy and loses the 2nd. Otherwise, should be a case of never having to cover.

And if Rafa breaks early... But thats the least likely of the 3.

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

I'm struggling to find value at today's women final. The least I want to see Serena winning, but she has the better chances, I can't deny this. Hope Safina will be able to give her a hard battle and if it goes to a 3rd set nobody knows what could happen. So, the only bet for me:

Safina to win 2:1 @6 - 2.5 pts

If Dinara wins the 1st set somehow I could also go and back Serena, depending on the price available .

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

thanks RC. Whats the odds for the final? Well no point in telling me odds. I will get a bet on for it and have it in the corner. I'kll have to go to 1600x1200 resolution to enjoy it best. Is anyone having a bet on it?

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

Another massive victory for the young Spaniard
The stamina he showed is unbelievable
Now he deserves a break, but what will Fed do?
Probably he'll work his bollocks off to prepare for the clay season...

Could there be a surprising revenge at RG red courts (or earlier)?
