Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

Here we go:

Stackhovsky to beat Clement @1.9 - 5 pts - my only bet at the men

Amanmuradova to beat Oudin @2.62 - 2 pts - my only bet at the women
Strugling to find a decent bet, indeed

Really fancy Pavel @ 20/1 against Muzza - NOT!

I'm gonna back Kunitsyn v Lubijcic. Reason being Lubi is in horrific form and doesnt look interested in anything hes doing. 13/8 for Kunitsyn is good enough for me to back.

Will take a small interest in Cipolla at 10/3 against Tursunov. Cipolla in good form, Tursunov on his day is terrific, but has more off days than on. 10/3 is massive for Flavio.

O'Brien v Niculescu @ 3.5 1pt
Domashowska v Mirza @ 2.8 1.5pts
Cetkovska v Erakovic @ 2.25 2pts
Dellacqua v Hantuchova @ 3.5 2pts
Czink v Cirstea @ 2.2 1pt
Baltacha v Groenefeld @ 3.25 1pt
Loss of just over a point overall, and rather annoying that 4 out of my 5 slightly more confident bets lost

Nice call on Amanmuradova and Cipolla from Engineer and Rafa

Kunitsyn went down 3-2 to Ljubicic, never mind eh! Lubi is still not in great form and i will look to bet against him next round depending on opponent, delighted with Cipolla winning 3-1 against Tursunov, Bookies had tursunov 1/5 what a joke! He's so inconsistent.

Will be back later with more thoughts. Well done guys

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

Cilic v Tipsarevic

2/5 7/4

Not much thought for this one. H2H is 1-0 in favour of Cilic. Big serve and i think Tipsa will struggle with it, Tipsarevic is in relatively poor form however did have a good tournament here last year.

Hrbarty v Ferrer

6/4 1/2

Interesting game this one. H2H is 4-3 in favour of Ferrer. However, H2H on hard court is 3-1 in favour of Hrbarty. If you look past the "names", this is a really tough game for ferrer, hrbarty dumped him out of US Open last year too, and is available at 6/4 with bet 365, i will be having a punt on this.

Mathieu v Delic

2/9 10/3

Paul-Henri should dispose of Delic in straight sets.

Soderling v Baghdatis

8/13 6/5

What a cracker in store here. H2H is 3-1 in favour of Soderling, all 3 of his wins coming on hard, baghdatis winning on grass. So why pick Baghdatis? He's in terrific form, up to fitness now and IMO is a better player. I think this match is going the distance. Both players are 11/2 to win 3-2 in sets, i'm going to have a small stake on each and not on the outright winner.

Hopefully will be back with some more thoguhts soon.

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

I'll go against you with Tipsarevic, Rafa. I don't think Cilic should be such fav.
Fully agree on Mathieu, he should have a straghtforward job against this mug.

So, I'll be on:

Tipsarevic @2.75 - 2 pts

Mathieu 3:0 @1.9 - 5 pts

Bolelli to beat Fish @2.37 - 3pts

Tomic to beat Muller @3.75
- 2 pts

Dechy to beat Sugiama @2.37 - 2pts

Erakovic to beat Safarova @3 - 3 pts

Pironkova to beat Bartoli @2.62 -2.5 pts

Best of luck all

What the rule if someone retires injured ?

Do you still get paid out or is the bet void ? - is it a certain number of sets played ?

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

from my experience if a player retires injured the bet is void, that's the case with bet 365.

i imagine different bookies have different rules though, best thing is to check before you bet i guess.

Re: Australian Open 2009 18th January

All depends on which bookie it's at Kegman, need to check the T&C for each bookie. Also depends on the bet - i.e. there are some bets (total games played, etc.) which can already be winners by the time a player retires. Those are normally settled no matter what, as long as the bet is a guaranteed winner or loser.

For me for tonight:

Tipsarevic v Cilic @ 2.75 1pt
Hrbaty v Ferrer @ 2.5 1pt
Chardy v Djokovic @ 11 0.5pts
Chardy to win at least one set v Djokovic @ 2.5 (Paddy Power) 2pts
Bolelli v Fish @ 2.375 1pt
Cohen Aloro v Kleybanova @ 4 1pt
Dokic v Chakvetadze @ 2.5 1pt

You can say that again. Hopefully Dokic can hold on, a set and a break up, to at least give me one winner for the night
