Tennis This Week
Better start by saying I'm not an expert by any means, but I think its worthwhile getting a thread up to warm us up for Wimbledon.
For today: I think Popp is worth a small punt today vs Dent. Dent was v. poor last week, losing to 18 year-old Murray at Queens in the second round. Murray is promising, but by his own admission isn't completely at home on grass, and he still shifted Dent in straight sets. I think Popp should atleast cause him trouble, and odds of over 3.00 show a little value. 2pts on that @ 3.10 @ Will Hill Tomorrow: I like the look of Phillipoussis. Rochus is usually hopeless on grass, and so as long as the big Aussie has his serve working and as long as he has the stamina. Odds have dropped on him but still value at over 1.50 I think. Was unlucky to come up against Roddick last week so not much to judge him against. Mark leads 2-1 in the H2Hs with a straight sets win at Wimbledon over the Belgian last year. 4pts @ 1.50 @ William Hill I also like Ljubicic over Hanescu. Hanescu was swept aside by James Blake last week, and is more at home on clay. They have played three times, with Ljubicic winning all three, with even a success on clay. Close to 1.50 is worth taking here. 4pts @ 1.46 @ Pinnacle Also tomorrow, Karlovic is worth taking v Andreev. Andreev didn't look comfortable at all last week at Queens, being pushed by Mackin and finally beaten by Guccione. Meanwhile Karlovic was awesome in reaching the final, and not even Roddick could touch his serve. Should be a simple 2-0 for Karlovic. 5pts @ 1.36 @ Paddy Power Last edited by Beanie : 13-06-2005 at 14:13. |

Re: Tennis This Week
Im big on Bjorkman tomorrow, cause Pavel plays shite. Those are his last 4 tournaments:
23/2005 ATPHalle (GER)GrassFabrice SantoroAndrei Pavel7-5 6-2First Round21/2005ATPRoland Garros (FRA)ClayFlorent SerraAndrei Pavel6-2 6-2 6-3First Round19/2005ATPHamburg TMS (GER)ClayGustavo KuertenAndrei Pavel6-2 6-1First Round18/2005ATPRome TMS (ITA)ClayGuillermo CanasAndrei Pavel7-5 6-2First Round Last year Pavel played 3 games on grass and won one of them (beat Ram ). Overall in 5 years he played only 12 games in major events on grass (5-7). Bjorkman likes playing on grass. His record stands at 22-12. He won RG doubles and had a good run in doubles at Queens.Pavel leads H2H 2-0, but they havent met on grass. Im going on Bjorkman with high stakes: 8/10 @ 1.83 2/10 2-0 @3.2 ![]() |

Re: Tennis This Week
Great pick Heniek, shame I only took some of the straight win.
I need Ljubicic to win to show a decent profit. He was broken in the first game of the match, but has since settled and broken back. 6-6 with both serving well...v tight. : |

Re: Tennis This Week
Dont you hate that - whenever you dont take a pick they win comfortable. But when you do take them they always go a set down first, then every set after that is always tight, right to the wire and nail biting stuff!!
Well thats from my experience anyways. |

Re: Tennis This Week
PHEW!
6-7(5-7) 6-3 7-6(10-8) Took him 6 match points, but he got there in the end - hardly like a 1.46 shot though I'll try my luck again tomorrow, hopefully with some less stressful results ![]() |

Re: Tennis This Week
Just time for a few quick ones:
Paul-Henri Matheiu v Llodra...Llodra struggled against Gramelmaeyer(sp), and if he plays anything like that again PHM should beat him. 3pts @ 1.83 @ Stan James Karlovic v Ljubicic...Ljubicic had a tough game yesterday, and struggled with the Hanescu serve. He will struggle more with the Karlovic serve, and looked vulnerable on his own. Croat worth backing again. 2pts single @ 1.67 @ Ladbrokes Johanssen v Berdych...ToJo has been struggling a little in last couple of weeks to really show his class, but he continues to do enough to win safely. Berdych shouldn't test him too much. 2pts double(ToJo and Karlovic) @ 2.27 @ Ladbrokes Week so far: 15pts staked / 18.64pts returned |

Re: Tennis This Week
Just one for today...
Mirnyi v Rochus The Beast is on great form just now, enjoying the grass and finishing off his matches confidently. His serve is working nicely, and his fitness looks good. Hasnt dropped a set this week either. The plucky Belgian Rochus isn't someone that its usually advisable to go against, and he too is in good form. Beat Karlovic yesterday, showing the big servers hold no fears for him, and he'll fight his corner on every point. I've just got a feeling its headed for three sets, although Mirnyi might just nick it. 1pt on 2-1 Mirnyi @ 3.75 @ Bet 365 1pt on 2-1 Rochus @ 3.75 @ Bet365 Week so far: 22pts Staked / 26.52pts Returned |
