Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
Hi Frank. Tough one to call I think, Chakdvetadze had problems yesterday, but Radwanska wasn't much more convincing either, getting past Vinci in 3 sets. If I had to choose a winner I'd say Radwanska, but at the price I don't really need much persuading to just leave this one alone. Good luck if you go with Radwanska.

Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
One final bet for me as I touched on earlier. I've mentioned these stats a few times in recent months, but worth mentioning again. Wozniacki is a very promising player, but every time she comes up against the very top players, she falls apart. Since October she's met what I'd consider top players 7 times (Venus 3 times, Sharapova, Ivanovic, Kuznetsova and Davenport). Outcome? 7 defeats, 0 sets won, 14 sets lost, and none of them have even been close - she's always lost by at least 5 games overall. Sharapova hammered her 6-0 6-1 in their meeting, at Doha in February. Clay might not be Sharapova's favourite surface, but it's certainly not Wozniacki's either (4-4 for the year, and 16-11 for her WTA career).
Sharapova had a tough game last time out against Cibulkova, eventually pulling through in 3 sets, but she'll be the better for a work-out like that after nearly a month off. The handicap has been set a bit too close for my liking (+/- 5.5 games on Sporting Odds), although that handicap was cleared in 6 of the 7 matches I've mentioned, and the total games market (+/- 18.5 games) is dodgy given that Wozniacki took Ivanovic to a tie-break (after losing the first set 6-1), and Venus to a 7-5, so she's capable of keeping one set close at times. So I'll go for the 2-0 Sharapova option instead. Sharapova 2-0 @ 1.62 5pts |

Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
That very nearly went badly wrong
Wozniacki was 5-1 up and serving in the 2nd set, got broken 3 times in a row to leave Sharapova 6-5 up and serving for the match, broke back to go to a tie-break, and eventually lost. Still, a winner's a winner I guess.

Cheers, Frank.
I think TDP's tennis forum is one of the best in the world of betting forums, although there are not that many posters (but readers mainly )It used to be even better when Wittmann was around, hope he'll be back rather sooner than later, but still we are doing a decent job here. |

Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
Just spotted a HUGE price for Roger Federrer to win the tournament in Hamburg.
Centrebet are offering 4.25 for Big Rog. A monstrous price indeed! He can be laid @3.50 at betfair now. I have an account with the Australians but don't use it as I can't make a withrawal without sending them a bunch of documents (interesting why they don't require any document when you make a deposit )So, if anybody's interested in some easy money, try the bastards |

And from what I've seen, it looks like Roger is back on the right way. Didn't have to sweat much against Nieminen and Soderling, don't think Verdasko and Kiefer/Seppi can stop him to make the final. Obviously Nadal will be there too, but I believe Federrer has every chance to defend his title from the last year. Nadal is making a bit more errors than usual and that can be punished by the gaining confidence no.1

Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
I'm going against Federer today I'm afraid, Engineer
![]() Been impressed with the posh (so I'm reliably informed ) Verdasco so far this week. Has a fairly high unforced errors count, but you can put that down to the fact he tends to go for his shots. If it's his day, and he hits the lines with his shots, I think he's well capable of an upset in this one. Federer's been up and down this week, looked good in places, but he looked shaky at the start of the 2nd set v Nieminen for example, if I remember rightly he was broken twice in a row in that set.Lay Federer 2-0 @ 1.57 to win 4pts Lay Federer @ 1.17 to win 10pts Also gone with Djokovic -5 games against Montanes. Montanes going OK so far, but against either poor, out-of-form or non claycourt opponents. Djokovic with an eye on moving up to 2nd in the rankings will want to get this one finished off as soon as possible ahead of a scheduled semi-final v Nadal, and I really can't see any reason why he shouldn't be able to do so. Djokovic (-5) @ 1.833 4pts No bets for me in the other 2 semis, Kiefer v Seppi looks too tough to call, and I can't see Moya troubling Nadal in the other one, but I don't back favourites at that short a price. |

Re: Tennis 12-18 May (Men: Hamburg Masters, Women: Roma)
For the women:
Venus v Jankovic > 22.5 games @ 1.833 4pts 6 past meetings between these two, they've won 3 each, and 5 of them have gone to a 3rd set. If they go the distance again here, the bet is near enough guaranteed to come in (barring a 6-0 0-6 6-0 or similar )Cornet (+4.5 games) v Serena @ 1.833 4pts These two met last month in the Charleston semi on green clay, and Serena only just cleared a 5 game handicap. Cornet has been in superb form here in Rome, coming through qualifying and the first 3 rounds here without dropping a set, including beating Kuzntsova. Not sure she can beat Serena here, but I do think she'll run her very close. Definite dark horse for Roland Garros too. Pironkova @ 2.62 4pts No time left now to write more. Good form, beat Ivanovic, decent price. That'll do for now. |
