Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Onto the American games:

Daniel to beat Massu @ 2.04 2pts

Massu not in great form, 4-5 on clay in 2008. Daniel has won one challenger and reached the final of another so far this year on clay. Tiredness may also be a factor, with Massu playing for nearly 3 hours yesterday in beating Querrey.

Szavay to beat Safina @ 2.5 2pts

Two pretty strong clay court players here, and also doubles partners here in Charleston, which means they should have a pretty good idea of each others' strengths and weaknesses. Safina 9-4 on clay for the past year, Szavay is 28-5 (although some at ITF level). Think this will be closer than the odds suggest.

Cirstea to beat Cornet @ 2.54 3pts

Backed Cirstea to see off Chakvetadze last round, which she duely did, and opposed Cornet against Errani, but Errani's failure to hold serve often enough cost her in the end. Reasons for opposing Cornet last round still apply, more so if anything now she's had another 3 setter to contend with, and IMO a stronger opponent this time too.

Dinara Safina - Agnes Szavay
This game opposes the wonder kid Szavay against the experienced Dinara Safina, Szavay is showing a great tennis since last week in Amelia Island when she defeat the allways difficult Srebotnik.
Szavay have a 50-22 record on clay, and this is her favourite surface, Safina have a 57-25 record.
The 2 players never meet each other.
We think that the rough style of play of Safina on the baseline will be good for Szavay, Szavay is very more clever than Safina and she will force the russian player to have a large number of unforced errors during the match.
Take Szavay to win this game
Our Bet is : Agnes Szavay to win @ 2.45 Pinnacle

Juan Monaco - Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
Juan Monaco had a very poor perfomance yesterday against Werner Echauer, he shows he is still very tired from the Davis Cup round, he plays Sunday against Johasson and travel only tuesday to spain, both players are preparing the Master Series Monte Carlo Open and we don’t believe that Juan Monaco will force more his awful fitness and will be hope to recover to this important tournment for the next week.
Garcia-Lopez prefers the fast surfaces but he is very good too in clay.
We bet on a upset here.
Our Bet is : Guillermo Garcia-Lopez to win @ 3.40 Ladbrokes

Denis Gremelmayr - Teimuraz Gabashvili
We saw the perfomance of Gabashvilli against Florian Mayer in the last round and the russian play a wonderfull match, very good at the baseline, and very agressive with is right-handed, his serve was good as allways.
Gremelmayr won against Nieminen who was very tired from the Davis Cup, he plays 11 sets between last Friday-Sunday and was impossible to him to play in conditions.
The h2h is 2-1 for the German, they never play on clay.
Expect a win from the Russian Gabashvilli here.
Our Bet is : Teimuraz Gabashvili to win @ 1.92 Pinnacle

Good stuff, Aaltonen, and welcome to TDP

Hope you did go with Ani in the end, Engineer. Got a pretty emphatic revenge there for her hammering last year.

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Welcome, aaltonen, nice write-ups there

Don't know whether Kirilenko played good or Cetkovska was dire, but quite a convincing win for the Russian...

Didn't took Ani as I wasn't sure myself, in fact before the start thought Flipkens should be the winner. Didn't get involved though. But Ani seems one to have an eye on.

Like Gremelmayr against Gabashvili, the match already started and the German made a break - I'm having a punt on the German @1.64

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Today's looking like being the day I give back all the profit from earlier in the week Cetkovska easily beaten in straight sets, and now the same looks like it's about to happen to Garcia Lopez (two breaks down second set, and hasn't yet managed a break point in the entire match).

Alize Cornet - Agnes Szavay

This game opposes two wonder kids Szavay and the Cornet, both players are showing a great tennis right now, but one thing could make the difference to this game, the fitness, Cornet is going to play her 9th match in 10 days, is not usual for her play a lot at this very high level, Szavay is a fighter and never give a free point for the opponent and we think that gonna make the difference in this game
Szavay have a 50-22 record on clay, Cornet have a 69-27(18-9 at WTA level) record.
The 2 players never meet each other.
Take Szavay to win this game

Our Bet : Szavay to win @ 1.70 Pinnacle

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

No time to write much this morning, only bet from the European games for me is 2pts on Starace to beat Robredo at something around 2.1 (can't remember the exact price I got).

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Davydenko to beat Gisquel 2-0 correct score @1.6

this is my only bet today

i watched the russian against Minar

well, he looks that is coming in form steadily, after the disasterus end of year 2007

he changed the way he serves : i noticed this from Dubai, he serves now with less power, the ball travels with more spin, but less speed, this is resulting for him 70-75% first serve percentage, which is more than acceptable

for Giisquel, i have only view of him as from last year, but i dont consider him as something special, actually nothing more than hard working french guy

here i go with the classy one

lets see..

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Only one for me in the afternoon and I'll go against the field and lay Haase @1.63 vs Korolev.
Don't think th Russian should be outsider in that one. The great comeback and victory over Safin have affected Haase's price, but I think it will be harder for him today. Korolev is the better claycourter for me and I'll give him credits to make the semi.

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Only one bet today also:

Zvonareva to beat Dementieva @2.5 - 2pts
Vera was great against Jankovic, although the Serb was really tired in the end of their match. In that aspect I'm little concerned over Zvonareva's fitness, but she should be able to give Dementieva a good performance. It will be a close game, but it could go Vera's way, maybe another 3-setter, but I just can't miss that price.

Re: Tennis week 14-20/April

Hope you're right, Martens, it'll be good for my outright bet on Granollers-Pujol.

Nice call yesterday on Korolev, Engineer.

Nothing for me today, no prices grab my attention, I'll just stick with my outright bets now.
