Davis Cup, 30.11 - 02.12.2007

USA - Russia
Best odds: 1.36 - 3.70

The draw will be on November 29th.
Games will be played in portland, Oregon.

The teams are:

USA - Roddick, Blake and the Bryans

Russia - Davydenko, Andreev, Tursunov and Youzhny

The games will be quite interesting, but maybe we should take for granted USA's win in the doubles.
So, singles will decide everything and if Blake is still in the shitey form he was during the last weeks Russia has some decent chances I reckon.
Maybe Davydenko - Roddick will be the crucial match for the outcome.
Anyway my opinion's that USA will win it 3:2, but decisions will come next week.

Re: Davis Cup, 30.11 - 02.12.2007

Given the surface is chosen by the home side it would surprise if they didnīt win the doubles match.

This will be reduced to a singles battle and Roddick will be too good for a Davy who looked tired, if not fed up, in China while James Blake will be too good for whoever they decide to put up in the other half.

For my money Tursunov and Andreev are horses for courses and this wonīt be their course while Youhzny can perform anywhere as long as they donīt put anything in his food.

The outright bet, for what itīs worth, may hold some value.
You take the Bryans out of this (can we do that?) then we have two little boys in Tursunov and Andreev who may not tackle the atmosphere in Oregon. Americans are nothing if not vociferous and while Oregon is hardly red-neck country you might imagine the scenario should they decide to bus a shed load in.
!,33 aint too shabby.

Re: Davis Cup, 30.11 - 02.12.2007

Wrong of me to assume Davy would be a part of the singles equation.

Heīs 0-5 against both Roddick and Blake and no surprise then that they put the amiable Tursunov up against Roddick..
Not sure if 1,25 for the Yank holds any value: these two are 2-2 in the h2h battle and 1-1 on hard courts.
The home advantage will clearly be to Roddickīs advantage and I donīt see any reason to bet against him.

Blake at 1,67 is probably correct and no involvement here either.
