Jankovic-Williams

This should be an absolute cracker. The H to H reads 2-2 with Jankovic winning the last two. They are 1-1 on clay and 3 of the 4 games have to 3 sets. The most recent game was a come from behind win for Jamkovic in Charleston. Jankovic is definitely on an upward spiral while the kindest thing that could be said about the increasingly injury prone Venus is that she is standing still. When they met in April Jankovic was prized at 2.1. She goes off today at 1.45. That price looks too short in my view. Against a competitor like Williams who won’t give up, who’ll fire down powerful serves Jankovic will be pushed hard. Jankovic has been brilliant on clay this year – 24 – 3 is simply fantastic especially when you consider that two of the defeats were to Henin. She should win this. She shouldn’t be as short as she is though.

Demetieva – Bartoli

Bartoli is rubbish on clay – there is no way around this fact. She has never been beyond the third round in Paris in 6 previous efforts. She is W3 L10 against top 50 players on clay. She has never beaten a top 20 player on clay in 5 attempts. She has some recent clay form in runs to the final in Prague and the semis in Strasbourg but in those events the top ranked players she beat were 95 and 67 respectively. Demenentieva has won both previous meetings. She is of a tour win in Turkey The Russians faults are well documented at this stage but few players have as good ground strokes as her especially on clay. I’d price this around 1.35-1.40. Prices above 1.50 are simply huge. You’ll probably sweat knowing WTA and Dementieva.

Nalbandian-Monfils

Chela played very poorly against Monfils. I cannot see Bandy being as bad and to be quoted longer than Chela was makes no sense at all. Monfils must be tired. He has played 12 games in the last 2 weeks and round 1 and 2 were long drawn out affairs here. Bandy not tested yet but he should be able to wear Monfils out by having him scampering around the baseline.

Volandri-Ljubcic

Ljubcic did not impress against Wawrinka allowing him to take a third set and not pushing the game. Volandri might be worth a sniff. The H to H is 3-0 for the Lube but all on fast surfaces and with Volandri in decent form he will never get a better chance to reverse this. The extra day’s rest for theItalian should help too.

Womens:

Bammer to beat Li @ 1.909 3pts

Bammer has looked impressive so far, winning both matches pretty comfortably. Li struggled against Parmentier in the 2nd round, dropping a set. Bammer having an excellent season, and if she plays to form, should be able to see off Li.

Lay Dementieva v Bartoli @ 1.48, liability 1pt

Can't argue with anything Wittmann says, but it's always a struggle backing Dementieva, she never makes things easy for herself. Bartoli hasn't got much of a record on clay, it's true, but she appears to be improving, and will have the crowd behind her. May just be enough to tip the balance a little bit more in her favour. Should end up getting a run for my money anyway, even if it is more from Dementieva's nerves than Bartoli's play.

Mens:

Lay Youzhny v Ferrero @ 1.98, liability 2pts

Very closely matched one, this, but I thought Ferrero looked pretty good in what I saw of his match against Delic, and I'd just about give him the edge here.

And lastly, a second round match, but for the sake of having all my picks for today in the same thread/post, I'm going to put it in here:

Reasons as given yesterday, but seeing as Karlovic messed up the potential treble, I'll now go with this as a single instead.

I'm starting today with 5pts bet on Ferero and this looks like one of my biggest bets for the French Open. Spaniard playing against Russian on clay! That's enough for me. Maybe I'll cover it with 3:2 win of Youzhny if Ferero gets tired in the end.

Some long shots for Vliegen, Llodra, Massu from yesterday and Volandri. I took Monfils for a winner w/o Fed and Nad and I still like my bet. Today going against Wittmann and laying Nalbandian. In what seems a 50:50 game to me odds ~2.5 for Monfils are not to be missed.

Williams sisters really irritate me (especially Serena) since their appearance in WTA. So I always suport their opponents... mentally. And I fall into ecstasies when they get beaten by a beautiful player. Jankovic could do the job today against Venus, but doesn't worth betting with that short odds. I'll try a small one for Krajicek vs Serena at ~9.00.
And I have to admit Marion Bartolli is fully capable of beating my favourite Dementieva. 2.60-2.70 is good enough for 2pts bet.

Yes, but you have to bear in mind the surface there Rene, two on hard court and one on carpet. Volandri's record since 2000 on hard courts is 22-41, and on carpet it's 4-18. They're very definitely not his favourite surface, clay is. I think Ljubicic should probably just edge this one, but there's no way I'd want to back him at such short odds.

but Ljubicic didn´t make the impression that he´s bad on clay.He was in the semi final last year. And I watched him versus Clement. He done a good job and gave Clement not much chances. (6-1,7-5,7-6).
