Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

Excellent day at the office today. 3 from 5 correct with the mens, including tasty odds against shouts for Chela and Hewitt. They’ll meet in the second round in what should be an entertaining match. Last meeting featured Chela spitting on Hewitt who to be fair took it fairly well. He was apparently annoyed by Hewitt’s “fist pumping” .

ATP Staked: 7.75 Units
Profit : 3.72 Units

In the WTA Sugiyma and Sprem won while Knapp exited in two. Sprem laboured and served a barely believable 44% first serves, a repeat of which will see her knocked out as Danildou was amazingly worse.

WTA Staked: 5 Units
Profit : 1.21 Units

Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

That's the reason why I don't play on sets anymore and under/over. Now,in tennis, I play only on win and sometimes win with handicap.
Next matches:

Tue 15-05-2007
ATP Tour Hamburg (C)

11:00 Becker Benjamin - Hernandez Oscar 2.92 1.37
11:00 Waske Alexander - Melzer Jurgen 2.45 1.50
11:00 Summerer Tobias - Nieminen Jarkko 3.90 1.25
11:00 Benneteau Julien - Schuettler Rainer 1.40 2.85
11:00 Moya Carlos - Fish Mardy 1.32 3.22
11:00 Acasuso Jose - Garcia-Lopez Guillermo 1.50 2.45
11:00 Volandri Filippo - Andy Murray 1.65 2.15
11:00 Mayer Florian - Youzhny Mikhail 4.06 1.21

If somebody find odds for WTA Rome please post I'm very interesting for them tommorow.

Becker Benjamin - Hernandez Oscar 2.92 1.37
I don't understand this Hernandez is not so good player and he didn't play this year and please tell me why is he favorite in this match
Something stink in this match perhaps Becker is saving himself for French open.
NO BET

Summerer Tobias - Nieminen Jarkko 3.90 1.25
This could be easy win for Nieminen because he is in solid form this month and I watched him last week he was very good but he lost both times from very good players. On the otherside Summerer is new player and he didn't play big matches last 2 years so I go on Nieminen.

Volandri Filippo - Andy Murray
Murray is coming back after 8-9 weeks and always when I watched him on clay he wasn't so good. Volandri shows great form last week so I will put him in some combo.

All this analysis are just quick look and I'm wating for odds for WTA Rome to make 1 good combo for toomorow.

You must have him confused with someone else. Hernandez is having one of his best seasons. He beat Becker easily in 2 sets last month in Barcelona on clay. In the last two months he has beaten Hewitt, Albert Martin, Nieminen and Tursonov and he took Robredo to three sets. He came through qualifiers beating Berlocq and Seppi. This season he won a big clay court challenger in Florianopolis and has made two SF. His clay record for the year is 27-11. Becker's record is 3 - 6 on clay this year and a career 7-14. He has never beaten a top 50 player on clay. This should be easy for the Spaniard. The only thinh going for Becker is he is at home but that will probably not even be enough.

2 Units Hernandez @ 1.46

Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

Moya – Fish

Moya’s glory days are well past but this is as kind an opener as he could want. Fish has only been beyond the first round once in five Masters competitions and his current form is very suspect with a loss to a woefully out of form Gaudio his most recent effort. He is 2-2 in H to H with Moya but didn’t get a set in their sole clay meeting. Fish scratched from the doubles last week in Rome with an illness and might not be fully fit here.

2 Units Moya @ 1.37

Melzer vs Waske

Austrian Melzer outside of Masters events has a fairly respectable clay court record – (8 ATP SFs and a number of challenger titles) but a truly a terrible Masters record – on clay has lost the last 7 but all to much better players than Waske. He made the QF in Hamburg in 2004 and 4 of his losses have been to top 25 players. Waske has made three appearances in Hamburg and suffered 3 first round exits. He is building a nice little doubles career but suffered a first round exit today so might be more focused than usual on the singles. I’m always reluctant to oppose the hometown player but the veteran Waske will find this hard going. Melzer has beaten him indoor on both carpet and hardcourt which are Wakse’s favourite surfaces. Melzer with reduced stakes.

1.5Units Melzer @ 1.59

Soderling vs Ferrer

Soderling holds a 4-0 h to h over Ferrer including a win on clay in Switzerland last year. Sets wise he is W8 L1 against the Spaniard including a tie break win in Dubai that he won on the 24th point. Soderling prefers faster surfaces and laboured against Ginepri who has done nothing this year. Ferrer however equally laboured against Bjorkman . Their records for the year are almost identical 24-10 Ferrer , 24-9 Soderling. With those and the H to H you’d have to price this evens .Ferrer is however defending quality points from last season here and I think he might do enough to raise his game. His Hamburg record is ok (W6 L4) and last year he also tanked in Rome before going on his run to the QF here.

2 Units Ferrer @ 1.75

Of the others-

Ljubcic main weapon – his big serve is neutralised a lot on clay. In Serra he faces a player who took him to 3 sets on clay in their only meeting in Monter Carlo last year. He has a very poor loss to Acasuso in Rome and at the price (1.66) I’d have to swerve. Serra makes no appeal however as he muddled qualifying against Zverev and the win against Bollelli was as much about the Italians failings. I might lay Ljubes 2-0 sets if I cna get a nice price somewhere.

Schuettler is in terminal decline but Benneteau is not in form and odds of 1.4 don’t tempt. I think Volandri might suffer a letdown after his Rome heroics but Murray has never done me any favors betting wise and there are injury concerns over the Scot. Youznhy is too short against Mayer – a lot of tennis played and the German is at home.

Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

Excellent day with 4 from 4 – Moya, Hernandez, Ferrer & Melzer all coming in . Murray bet voided as he mercifully retired with the first set unfinished. Might be serious as he was 5-1 up at the time. The man is the Darren Anderton of the tennis world.

Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

GOOD CALLS there Wittmann. I also went for Volandri -for no rational reason --- other than I like to see that turd Murray running around with his lower jaw on the floor! and him losing and me making money is doubly nice!!
( think we may have come unstuck with the bet though ) PHEW!
I am going with Chela tomorrow SIMILAR REASON!

Re: Tennis 14th- 20th (ATP Hamburg, WTA Rome & Morocco)

It is the 2nd round in Hamburg tomorrow with some interesting matchs. All prices Betfair unless indicated.

Acasuso – Volandri

I thought Volandri would suffer a reaction after his overachievement in Rome and he did with only a retirement by Murray when 5-1 up helping him into the second round. Acasuso leads the H to H 4-1 and has won the last 4 without dropping a set. Acasuso is defending quality points from a SF run to Hamburg last season and needs to win this to keep his ranking. Volandri is W4 L4 at Hamburg and he has never performed here has he does on his home ground in Rome. Acasuso dispatcehed Garcia Lopez in easy straight sets in the first round and I’d back him to continue his good record against Volandri here.

Acasuso 2 Units @ 1.60 (Betfair)

Hewitt – Chela

As I mentioned yesterday this has the potential to be a real grudge match. Given his recent form Chela starts a worthy favourite but Hewitt made little of underdog status when beating Calleri and quotes of 3.25 look long. The H to H are 3-2 in favour of the Aussie (all on hard-court) and the 3 , 3 setters have gone the distance. Hewitt back from a long term injury and newly married, not the player he was but he’ll have plenty incentive to chase the Argentinan. A lay of Chela’s sets the play.

Lay Chela 2-0 1 Unit risked @ any price below 2.2 (Betfair)

Simon-Davydenko

Davydenko pushed Nadal has hard as anyone has recently in the Rome semi and that and some gruelling matches in Rome might tell against him here. He has had injuries recently and Simon served extremely well against Gicquel when bombing down 10 aces. Simon hasn’t made the grade to troubling the top 25 players yet but the Russian might be vulnerable with the change in conditions.

Lay Davydenko 2-0 1 Units Risked @ 1.83 (Betfair)

Blake-Clement

Blake is my bet of the day today despite the fact that clay is easily is worst surface. Clement beat Stepanek in what I was by all accounts a very poor match. The fact that the Frenchman won while serving at 45% shows what a poor match Stepanek played. This is in fact only his 2nd time beyond the first round in 5 Hamburg appearances. While Blake has not pulled up any trees in Hamburg either he leads Clement 5-0 in the H to H and the set count reads 10-1 in the Americans favour. Blake lost to Massu in Rome although it was a tight game and he beat Moya and Murray here last year before exiting to Ancic in the third.

Blake 2.5 Units @ 1.53

Berdych-Moya

Moya as expected demolished a helpless Mardy Fish. Berdych comfortably beat Almagro who is in a mini slump at the moment. Moya is in decline but Berdych is prone to lapes like that against Volandri in Romewhere he combusted spectacularly. Moya is better than quotes of 3.30 suggest.

Moya 0.75 Units @ 3.3 (Betfair)

Mathieu – Gonzalez

Mathieu has won the last 3 meetings (although Gonzo won the meeting in Hamburg in 2005). Both are of decent runs of form – Gonzo performed heroically in Rome against Nadal when unexpectedly making the final and Mathieu has won in Casablanca and made the SF in Barcelona (both clay) this year. Mathieu has qualified here in Hamburg serving less than or just over 50% in all 3 games which makes me think that Gonzo's price of 1.81 looks big. Gonzalez has now lost the last 5 finals he has contested (although losing to Nadal and Federer *3 is no disgrace. I think he will have enough to beat Mathieu here but it is hard to judge his mental and physical state so I will be avoiding.

Nieminen – Mayer

Nieminen is not having a good year. He is 11-12 for the year and has not had 3 consecutive victories since February. Mayer and himself have split the 4 games they have played with Mayer winning the sole clay encounter 6-2 , 6-2 in Croatia in 2005. Mayer had a tough 3 set win against favourite Youznhy yesterday whereas Nieminen’s match against wild card Summer was slightly more routine. The German will have the home crowd behind him and Nieminen choked badly in Barcelona against Spaniard Hernandez when the crowd got on his back blowing 19 break points in an extraordinary match. The Finn has plenty of talent but is mentally suspect. I can’t make a strong case for either.

Safin-Ferrero looks very tight. The H to H are 5 apiece and 4-3 on clay to Ferrero but he won the sole Hamburg meeting and even at tasty odds of around 2,40 I can’t trust what Marat Safin will turn up.

Kohlscreiber-Andreev looks tight as well. Andreev is 3-0 on the H to H but the German is at home and is much improved from those matches in 2005. Prices look right although I’d fancy the Russian slightly.

There is talk that Federer is vulnerable with by his standards some poor results and coach Tony Roche leaving. I can’t see it myself. I would actually think Monaco might feel the backlash here.
