Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
im not to bad on the non leagues and european leagues, what i do is go to new posts every day then post on things. maybe we could do a tipster thing were people take part you make two 2 tips on every league then at end of season person who gets the most right wins a prize?

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Maybe we could assign some senior members to specialise in particular leagues, and commit to writing up a preview for each round of games.
I've got time on my hands and would be more than happy to cover the Championship, and maybe another foreign league. |

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Thanks for the replies chaps. I'm really after some 'new blood' truth be told. I would love to see our CC threads packed with folks all telling us their thoughts each week. Frodo is a fine example. A fan and a bettor too. Impartial advice. As i say when i get back home and ive got time on my hands and a few smokes in me i will find a way no doubt. spamming forums is beneath me these days. Need a new angle.

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Difficult one i think, problem is on here people tend to filter between leagues (myself included) writing a few lines of tosh that dont really help anyone ie 'even without Torres and Gerrard Liverpool should have enough to see off .......' Guess your going to get more people contributing to a Prem thread than a League One thread though because more people are interested in it..prob what we lack on here is a few people with specialist knowledge of a certain league (you mention Frodo, which is a good example and traeth) who only post their views on that particular league, they might contribute to other threads but generally just concerntrate on writing up good previews to that particular league..err, guess you prob knew that already though!
I agree with CPFC, need 'assigned' people to write up on certain leagues..need to know to a certain extent what their talking about though..not too much just slightly more in-depth previews than the two line analysis we tend to indulge in on some of the threads, incentive of some kind of 'prize' might work?..think it might be a bit ambitious to hope for it on some of the european leagues though, still worth putting up the odds and such but cant see you getting much analysis from people in the know on those leagues, might happen though, look at the success of the German thread this week! Wouldnt have happened without DSQUAREDLOL though, guess you just need one of him for every league ..

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Perhaps though If we were to merge CCL1 and CCL2? like we do with Scottish 123.
It wont mean more opinions but it will mean more in one place and perhaps people wont get side tracked with the one piece of info thats in the CC2 thread *cough* Torquay *cough* |

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
I think over the time that its been running, if you look at it then we've probably had these people in drips & drabs but they dont tend to hang around if theres no support, only the die hards do that.
I think you're caught between someone doing a really good write up on something & then it being soul destroying that theres been 146 views & no reply ( I know, Ive been there, amongst others ) & then the other side of the coin is when the same great write up is there & it has 14 replies all saying 'great, brilliant, thanks' etc. Thats obviously better than the first one but it just makes it look busier but theres still only the same amount of decent info on there. That can look desperate to keep people IMO but its done for the right reasons, but looks crap IMO.I dont think the problem is finding these people as by the nature of the beast they come knocking every now & again, the key is keeping them, or keeping them long enough until the next one comes along so they can talk to each other & become gay lovers etc |

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Agree with Swoops very dishearting,I tried last season, week in week out with my French and Portugese previews (I even showed a profit on my Portugese bets over the season amazingly enough
) . but all to know avail, apart from the very rare thanks post, which as Swoops points out serves little purpose, when its interaction your looking for,I was doing my homework on these leagues so I had opinions, but I wasnt surprised I wasnt getting any replies as people on this forum had little or no interest in the Portugese league so no surprise there, what people dont know about they cant comment on.

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Again with the Europe Leagues alot of the time I wont even open the threads. What I would suggest is that we go down the route of the Super threads that komps posted up. maybe a little better layed out
i.e French ... ... ... .. Spanish ... ... .. .. Itallian ... .. ... ... ... .. Spend a little more time laying it out and have one thread. If someone has alot of thoughts on a league let them open a thread, or if theres all talk about la liga and nothing on anything else split that off in future. keep all the empty threads togeather and theres bound do be something discussed on it, even if its just that yorkies lost half a mil on the kazakstani leaders again. |

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Mine was cricket obiously, rather than footie but I did go through a season 2 years ago when I tried to do a lot of work on lges 1 & 2 & theres only the odd bounce-back. Cricket was obviously my first sport so I continued with that longer but in the end that did me as well & I fcuked off for a bit & have only just returned.
It'd be interesting to know though, whether those that stop posting, do they stop betting ?? I didnt I know that, though probably not as often. So I think the disinterest does wear you down in the end, happens to us all. Thing is, ok, theres a certain number of regular posters & maybe we're trying to stretch it too thin. That German blokes obviously good (sorry, not been in there) & weve had the odd decent turkish punter etc but thats probably too exact for the amount of posters if you see what I mean. I think its a case of finding the line between not jumbling the info up together in too few threads & not having the place look empty. Maybe the idea of lges 1 & 2 merging isnt such a bad idea although I wouldnt have said that before, but if a threads got 25 replies on its more likely to get more than if its only got 2 I would think How about: Prem Championship & Lge 1 Lge 2 & Non league |

Re: Football Fans Required (ideas)
Heres a thought. Komp might hate it tbf
actually, no, make that will hate it, but a couple of different forums I've been on, not sports though, have this 'thanks' thing that if someone likes a post they just press the thanks button & it appears in a little box at the bottom of the thread. It just saves the thread getting jammed up with nothing stuff but still makes the poster feel that at least someone appreciates his evenings work.Probably not everyones cup of tea tbh, just thought I'd mention it. Not really my cup of tea actually, so not sure why I bothered lol |
