Quote:
John Part vs. Phil Taylor : Part to score highest checkout 7pts @ 2.37 (Paddy Power, Stan James) I don't see Part troubling Taylor as far as the outcome of the match is concerned - Part's not at the level of Taylor recently, and his Las Vegas win was due to Barney KOing Taylor, and then dropping his level in the final. However, Part is one of the best finishers around, and rarely fails to take out 1 or 2 big shots. Taylor often wins matches without the big finishes, and Skybet's 1.83 for both is a more realistic price. |

Well, as all great quests must, this has begun with a crushing failure. But the hero of our story will return stronger, and ultimately achieve his goal of enlightening the masses.

Re: Dave's Brilliant Record 25/7/06 - 24/7/07
Dennis Priestley vs. Alex Roy : Priestley to win 10pts @ 1.55 (Expekt)
Priestley is in fine form, and it's going to take an excellent performance to stop him this week. Roy didn't need to play too well to win in round 1, which was fortunate for him, as he didn't. With all Priestley's experience and class, this race to 13 should be pretty straigtforward. Kevin Painter vs. James Wade : Wade to win 20pts@ 2.00 (bet365, Coral, others) Sometimes you spot a bookie with a price that is out of line with what you would expect. However, here it seems that every bookie is making a huge mistake. Painter has been really struggling, and with an average of just 81.62 in round 1 he should count himself fortunate to even be here. Wade on the other hand averaged 96.81 to beat Dennis Ovens (who himself averaged 88.61) by 10 legs to 1. This is one of those prices where I really cannot believe my eyes. |

Well, Dave's brilliant record takes it's first steps in the right direction, Priestley and Wade winning.
Bets 3 W/L : 2/1 Staked : 37pts Returned : 55.5pts Profit = 18.5pts Yield = 50% |

Roland Scholten vs. Ronnie Baxter : Baxter to win 5pts @ 2.33 (Sporting Odds)
Nothing between these two IMO, so 2.33 for a 50-50 shot seems a nice enough price. |

A close battle as expected, with Scholten just pulling away at the end.

Re: Dave's Brilliant Record 25/7/06 - 24/7/07
Phil Taylor vs. Dennis Preistley : Priestley to hit more 180s 3pts @ 4.50 (Skybet, Stan James)
Taylor is rightful favourite here, but no 1/3 shot. Priestley is more than capable of hitting plenty of 180s when he's on form, and Taylor's habit of switching to 19s means he doesn't hit as many maximums as he could. |

Re: Dave's Brilliant Record 25/7/06 - 24/7/07
James Wade vs. Roland Scholten : Wade to hit more 180s 3pts @ 3.25 (Betfred)
Similar to last nights bet really - Scholten is the correct favourite, but in terms of 180s per leg in this tournament Scholten is 0.35 and Wade 0.28. Scholten is always liable to a real off night, whereas Wade looks pretty solid, and you feel he will play the same way he has so far. |
