Napoleon Conquers The World (hopefully)
Tonights MLS game takes place at the Home Depot Centre where LA and Chivas meet in the third Super Clasíco meeting of the season. The teams come into the game with contrasting fortunes, LA on a three game league losing streak despite the addition of David Beckham to the squad, while Chivas have won three of their last four games.
A 5-4 defeat to RBNY in the previous game did more to highlights the defensive frailties of the New York side than the attacking potency of LA. Two of LA's greatest assets will also have to overcome the effects of playing yesterday evening on a different continent. Both David Beckham and Landon Donovan played for their countries in Europe yesterday before having to fly back to the USA, Beckham still suffering from an ankle injury despite playing the full 90 minutes for England. Both will have to try and overcome the serious effects of jet-lag associated with long-haul flights. Chivas come into this game with a decent record of late, three wins in the last four games including winning two of their three game road trip. Technically this is their final match of the road trip, but as they're also based at the Home Depot Centre it's virtually a home game. The only player Chivas had playing in Europe yesterday was defender Jonathan Bornstein, who should play but may easily be replaced should it be required. On a poor run of form and with their two star players more than likely jet-lagged, LA are easily opposed in this game, especially when you consider this is a "home vs home" game and that Chivas are on such a good run of form. LA Galaxy v Chivas USA - 1 point @ 3.00 ( Betsson/Gamebookers) |

World Championships Mens 200m
A lot of what I bet on is taken from other people's write-ups. This bet is one such instance! Beanie has made a very convincing argument regarding Usain Bolt in the Mens 200m (see below): Quote:
I was only able to get 3.25 for this bet, but from Beanie's write-up I still fell this is well worth taking. Usain Bolt (Mens 200m) - 2 points @ 3.25 (Boylesports) |

Cheers Kop, may well end up nicking some of your League Two and Conf picks in time! Keep up the good work mate!
North American Super Liga - LA Galaxy v CF Pachuca It's the final of the inaugural Super Liga tonight and it's being contested by two teams who couldn't be in more different form. The Los Angeles Galaxy come into the game sitting second bottom of the western conference in the USA, on a woefully poor run of form and having to contend with a spate of injuries. Chris Albright, David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Kelly Gray, Ty Harden, Ante Jazic and Abel Xavier all missed out in their previous match away to Colorado. David Beckham is likely to take some part in tonights game, but the injury list remains precariously long. Pachuca are only four games into their league season and sit second behind Santos Laguna. They do come into this game having lost their first home game for over a year, however a number of first team regulars were rested for that match in preparation for the Super Liga game. These included Fausto Pinto, Gerardo Rodríguez and Argentinians Damián Alvarez, Christian Giménez and Juan Carlos Cacho. The two teams have already played each other in this competition, LA emerging victorious after a 2-1 victory in the first group game. This was before the Mexican League season began and Pachuca hadn't played a competitive game for almost two months. Pachuca are now in full flow in the league while LA are in poor form and have to contend with a spate of injuries. LA have done well in this competiton so far, but I can see Pachuca taking this final as they've become increasingly competitive game by game. LA Galaxy v CF Pachuca - 3 points @ 2.50 (Interwetten) |
