Re: Kop in League 2

I've a couple more i'm looking at later but for now i've taken MK Dons @ 11/8 V.Chandler.

Dons form is pretty solid of late while Morecambe after a good start have dipped a little in their last 3 games. A poor 0-3 loss at home to Hereford, a rather lucky 1-1 draw at Peterborough and a 5-0 spanking in the Carling cup at Sheff Utd could be chipping away at confidence.
I think the 11/8 (only at V.C, all others 5/4 or shorter) odds are just about worthy of taking.

(015) MK Dons 4.00 @ 11/8 V.Chandler

Re: Kop in League 2

It's a big price on Lincoln for sure brom's and Wrexham still do have several players out but a no bet for me on the fact that Lincoln have lost their last four. A big price though and i wouldn't want to put anybody off it.

What the hell are Hereford doing in 2nd? Surely we cant make it four straight wins on the road, 15/8 tempting but not quite.
Wycombe travel to Bradford with their two senior keepers out and are left with an untried youngster unless they can get somebody else in on loan quick.

I have added a couple more bets though, Chester are unbeaten on the road while their hosts Macclesfield are still looking for their first home win of the season, 7/4 isn't a bad price.
Chesterfield had been putting in some good results until getting beat at home by Barnet last weekend, i fancy them to get back to winning ways at Notts County.

(016) Chester 4.00 @ 7/4 Stan James
(017) Chesterfield 4.00 @ 8/5 Stan James

Re: Kop in League 2

I'm taking Peterborough for a win at Shrewsbury. The Posh will go into this game on a bit of a high knowing they grabbed a deserved 90th minute equaliser at top of the table Darlington on Saturday.
Shrewsbury who were 3 out of 3 home wins before the weekend lost their unbeaten at home tag to Rochdale who hit them with 3 goals in the last 10 minutes to win 3-4.
I think the Posh will be up for another away trip and odds of 9/5 are worth chancing.

There’s a couple more I’m looking at but I’ll wait for better odds.

Re: Kop in League 2

I’ve added 3 more aways

I think Rotherham and Stockport represent a little value @ 7/4 with level stakes, both are in the top half of the league and are playing two teams that lost at the weekend that are in the lower half of the league.

Chesterfield
had a host of chances in the 1st half at Notts County at the weekend but lost by a goal to nil, previous to that they were unbeaten on their travels, though did lose to Barnet at home previous too. I think they have a chance of bouncing back at Wrexham who although won at the weekend struggled to get past an out of form Lincoln team.

(019) Rotherham 4.00 @ 7/4 Stan James
(020) Stockport 4.00 @ 7/4 Ladbrokes
(021) Chesterfield 4.00 @ 6/4 Stan James

Edit:

I've upped my stake on Peterborough, Bet 18 should now read...
(018) Peterborough 12.00 @ 9/5 Bet365

Re: Kop in League 2

Cheers Winrew, Chesterfield had it wrapped up after just 15 mins, Peterborough made hard work of it and Barnet left it really late. As for the other two well i do expect losers at these sort of prices.
A good night as you say though

Re: Kop in League 2

Two teams that had very different results midweek were Accrington and Wrexham, Accrington got a great result at Bradford where as Wrexham’s game was effectively over after just 15 mins. This is a Friday night game and I think I’ve mentioned Stanley’s fantastic strike rate on night games before, odds against for the home team look big enough even with keeper Kenny Arthur missing.

I’m sticking with Peterborough again, I’ve no real pleasure in taking the 8/11 price but I fear The Posh have got their season started now and are about to kick on. Craig Makail-Smith to score at anytime is priced @ 13/8, that doesn’t look a bad bet but another bet that ‘s tempting, very tempting is Peterborough -1, Stan James have this priced up at 15/8, actually as I’m typing I’m getting more confident and I’m going to split stakes here.
Another point worth mentioning about Peterborough, I watched them on gamecast for their midweek trip to Shrewsbury, I think Shrews’ had 17 attempts on goal and the Posh still kept a clean sheet, in turn they had 18 shots on goal themselves and netted two, this game looks easier.

One last bet in this league for me, Barnet look very overpriced imo @ 7/2, they are on a role, a great comeback midweek, 3 wins on the bounce, unbeaten in 6, Stockport with a couple of injuries and a loss in midweek, Barnet two points and four places above them, what are the bookies thinking, I’ve split small stakes on the away and the draw.

(023) Acc’ Stanley 4.00 @ 6/5 Betfred
(024) Peterborough 8.00 @ 8/11, and -1, 4.00 @ 15/8 Coral + Stan James

Peterborough win but only by the odd goal, Barnet were comfortable winners and i just dont want to talk about Accrington. Poor staking today though, i must stay away from -1 bets.

Re: Kop in League 2

Bury v Shrewsbury 5/4, 9/4, 9/4

Current league form

Bury 11th, 15Pts, -1Gd, wwDWd
Shrews’ 13th, 14pts, -1Gd, LlLLd

You can see why the bookies have priced this game up as they have, Bury unbeaten in 5 with 11 pts from a possible 15 and Shrewsbury no win in 5 and just the 1 point, however closer inspection of results points me to a value bet on Shrewsbury here. It’s about the opposition they’ve played in those games that makes the 9/4 away look bigger than it should be.

Bury last 5

(19th)Notts County 1-3 Bury
(15th)Rochdale 1-2 Bury
Bury 1-1 Lincoln City(23rd)
Bury 2-1 Accrington Stanley(12th)
(18th)Dag & Red 1-1 Bury

Shrewsbury last 5

Shrewsbury 2-3 Chesterfield(3rd)
(5th)Chester 3-1 Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury 0-2 Peterborough(6th)
Shrewsbury 3-4 Rochdale(15th)
(8th)Wycombe 1-1 Shrewsbury

It’s fair to say Shrews’ have been shipping them in a bit of late but they are trying to address that according to the BBC….

Shrewsbury Town captain Stewart Drummond thinks his side's recent poor run of form is down to their defence.
Speaking after their 3-2 loss at home to Chesterfield he said: "We've defended poorly again today with one or two individual errors.
"We're letting teams score too easily against us which is something we weren't doing before, when we were picking up points."
He told the club's website: "We've got to stay together and get through this."

Bury deserve credit for their recent form but they have failed to keep a clean sheet in those five games against opposition that looked relatively weak.

Hereford v MK Dons 15/8, 9/4, 6/4

I’m not betting here but for anybody that’s considering it I’ll just add a couple of points as all the prices look generous
The chances on Hereford getting anything imo really depends on whether our central defender has recovered from a serious head injury he picked up in last Friday nights game at Chester. He’s a bit of a general at the back for us, quite solid and if he is missing then it’s worth mentioning that replacement McCombe has hardly kicked a ball for us this season and partner Mclenchan has not featured that many times either.
On the positive side if you believe in head to heads then (off the top of my head) we beat these home and away last season, definitely away anyway. It should be a cracker and you’d expext goals with these two teams no matter who’s playing and who’s not.
A definite for any +1 goals or more backers.

Of the others Peterborough looked a good bet but the fact that Lincoln have just sacked their manager could help them raise their game a bit so I’ve left them out and I was considering Mansfield also but visitors Notts County have just sacked their manager too.
I’ve a feeling Brentford might upset the odds @ around 5/2 at Rochdale and Barnet look a bit overpriced at Wrexham but I’ll leave that to those more in the know this week, I think they can quickly get back to winning again there though.
Darlington can get Stuart McCall the sack this weekend but the biggest surprise could come at Wycombe, I don’t know why but I fancy Grimsby to cause an upset here @ 4/1.
Chester are another team in form with a good record away from home and they can be considered @ 9/5 too.

All in all though I’m just going to pin my hopes on the Shrewsbury here this weekend, they really can’t afford to lose a fifth game on the trot if they are to be play off contenders come the end of the season, I’m quietly confident they can come away with at least a point, it’s going to damage my month if they don’t.

Re: Kop in League 2

Good stuff Shall, i'm on the Wycombe now. Jermaine Easter has left for Plymouth on loan, i think that will suit both player and club, i like manager Lambert's talk at the moment and i like the threat of Holt and McGleish. Chester are still dangerous, there's not a better player in form in the league as Ritchie Partridge, he's a threat and so is Yeo (imo).
Chester's home form isn't as good as their away, their home form is 2,2,2 (and they did well to hold on for a point against Hereford), biggish odds i think as Wycombe are 1,4,1 away.

I'm also on Rotherham to win at Dag + Red, The Daggers have lost the last two at home and only drew the previous two. Rotherham have been pretty solid of late winning their last two at home and picking up two draws away. I think they could well end up in the play offs at the end of the season, they have been quiet but ok so far and they take a good following on their travels. It'll be interesting to see how manger Mark Robins goes about it.
