Kop in the Carling Cup
I’m going to be following this competition much closer this year, throughout the rounds there are some good bets in various markets to be had based on what I see last season. I’ll be in here to give my thoughts and log my bets. I’ll probably do a similar thread for league 2 with the Blue Square Premier too.
I’ll copy and past to the Brit forum during the rounds when need be. Stakes will be varied between 2.00 and 100.00 based on strength of confidence, though I’m only likely to use that maximum probably/maybe later on.There is a market I have it put it by for though. I’ve a feeling Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool won’t be giving this competition 100% so I’ve left them out of my Ante Post bets for now, though I will be taking another look at them at the semi final stage. So far I’ve placed .. Arsenal 7.54 @ 9/1 Ladbrokes Spurs 5.80 @ 12/1 Bet365 Newcastle 3.59 @ 20/1 Totesport Villa 3.59 @ 20/1 Totesport Everton 2.60 @ 28/1 Stan James W.Ham 1.88 @ 40/1 Totesport 25.00 staked to Return 75.40 Bring on the 1st round odds ![]() |

Re: Kop in the Carling Cup
There’s always a few upsets in this first round, last season see around 20% of games go to the underdogs…

Re: Kop in the Carling Cup
From the BBC
Hereford v Yeovil Hereford goalkeeper Wayne Brown looks set to make his return after recovering from a groin injury so Chris Weale, on loan from Bristol City, steps aside. Striker Simon Johnson is also poised for his debut and on-loan Watford frontman Theo Robinson is also expected to be in the squad. Yeovil will again be without skipper Terry Skiverton, Marc Bircham (both groin) and Gary Dempsey (foot). Scott Guyett, Skiverton's replacement, is doubtful with a head injury. I think we are going to win this game, there is a rivalry between the two clubs and we are due one against them. If as they say (and they do tend to agree on the official Hereford site too) that Robinson and Simon Johnson will start upfront then that’s a positive imo. Robinson played on Saturday and looked good, he’s a young Watford loanee…….. Theo Robinson - Age 18 - Squad Number 22 - Theo joins the Bulls on loan until December from Championship side Watford. A fast young striker who graduated from the Watford Academy. Has already found the net whilst on trial during the Bulls pre-season campaign and is a player who will offer something different to the more experienced Steve Guinan and Trevor Benjamin. And if we have Simon Johnson playing too (ex Leeds and Darlington) then I know he will be giving his all as he’s playing for an extention to the one month contract we’ve offered him. Ben Smith may return to boss the midfield too after coming on as sub on Saturday, that would be another positive imo. We beat Coventry 3-1 at home this time last year and we do like our night games at Edgar Street. I’m very confident GT will put out a strong (possibly stronger than last Saturdays) team. What about Yeovil? Well their injuries look a slight negative and their priority is surely the league after just missing out last season and after losing 1-0 away at Huddersfield on the opening day I’d say their home game to Port Vale on Saturday is the one they’ll be making the more important game of the two. I’ve just upped my stake to the next level on Hereford so bet 3 now reads (003) Hereford v Yeovil 12.00 @ 9/4 Skybet |

I was counting the cash at ht with Hereford 4-0 up, full time 4-1, go on the mighty whites, a very good performance ![]() |

Re: Kop in the Carling Cup
Gerrard may be travelling but if Benitez is moaning about him playing for England then he may be suggesting he needs to miss this game...
He certainly wasnt in the game at the weekend that's for sure so maybe Momo Sissoko will be a favourite to start or at least play some of the game. I was surprised not to see him get a game at the weekend especially as Alonso was out. Momo has scored just 1 goal in 78 appearances for us so far and would be hard to fancy as first goalscorer based on that stat but i've seen him being a little more adventurous on goal in the few games he's played this season. He scored a good goal at Sunderland and seems happy and settled at the club now. I believe last week he became a father for the first time and i'm sure he'd love to score a goal for the wee one, maybe his team mates will make sure he gets an attempt or two on goal. I think his big odds are worth taking a chance on for this game. (008) Momo 1st scorer, 2.00 @ 33/1, Anytime, 2.00 @ 10/1 Betfred |
