Celtic rumour mill

One of the sites I read has various Celtic (and Rangers) rumours each week so I thought I would start a thread saying what is "allegedly" going on with the OF each week.

Anyway, from last week

Apparently (that word will be used a lot!) Robbie Fowler was on the verge of joining for the rest of the season at the start of the week. He then supposedly told Gerrard what was happening, Gerrard made Benitez aware and Robbie ended up back at Pool.

The Fowler transfer break down was a blow for Celtic captain Neil Lennon as apparently he would have been back to Leicester as player manager by now if Fowler had been brought in, the freeing of his wages financing the Fowler deal.

Riordan - a swap deal with cash and Varga to Hibs and Riordan to Celtic almost went through. Rangers then made their move for him but its believed more to scupper the Celtic deal than actual wanting him at Ibrox. Riordan said he would not go to Rangers so both deals died a death but not before Hibs came back to Celtic at the end of the window to resurrect the deal. However due to Agathe being emptied, Celtic told Hibs they needed to retain Varga.

The 3rd attempted signing this week was rather unbelievably Mark Viduka! Considering how he left Celtic, then this is surprising but Strachan was told he would have to get one of the other high wage earners to leave if he wanted Viduka. If he didn't get anyone of the bill then he would be allowed £2k per week in wages to sign someone - hence the arrival of DD!

Celtic are looking at Paul Konchesky to solve the left back problem with a summer move.

Rangers are due to get a major cash investment this coming week, linked to the "naming" of Ibrox stadium for the next 5 years. Ohh please let them be playing in the KFC Crispy Tower Zinger Bowl for the next 5 years

Ohh and the Orange Lodge are trying to get rid of some of their surplus shares in Rangers but wish them to remain in "Orange" hands


Anyway, thats this weeks stuff. The Fowler one doesn't ring true to me as he is supposedly a big Rangers fan so I doubt he would end up at Celtic. However the Riordan one sort of backs up other stories that he will sign a pre contract with Celtic in April with his contract due to expire this coming October.

Agree with Fowler. No chance he would've come to Celtic i wouldn't have imagined as he is an open Rangers fan and is seen at a good few games at Ibrox too.

Viduka would've been a strange one wouldn't it have.

Koncheskey would be a decent signing i reckon.Always thought he was a decent left back and supports the attack pretty well also.

I would not be happy to see Viduka back. Has ability (or certainly had) but his temperament and commitment to a club are pretty poor. Pity Celtic didn't get Riordan but as crowie mentions it could happen yet.
