I think it's quite refreshing honesty. Beats the players that sign for a new club and come out with all the guff about how it's a great club with great fans and I'm delighted to be here and blah blah blah. At least Diarra's honest about it.

Not sure I'd expect Portsmouth fans to see it that way, mind you

Marlon King's move to Fulham looks to be off, apparently he's failed a medical and the £5m deal appears to be in jeopardy.

Remember years ago when Van Nistelrooy failed a medical at United, was apparently fit and well and then suffered that horrific knee injury soon after. Eeeeuw I remember seeing it on TV and you could just hear him scream when it went 'pop'

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

More figments of imagination from lazy Fleet Street hacks in today's rags. I think that sunday papers are the worst for it, the journo's have all week to write their stories and like lazy teenagers, probably put off their essay to the last minute. Then on the tube into work on the Saturday avo, they have to quickly scribble down any old shite and that's why today's rags are chockablock full of rumours and speculation that dont even deserve to see print.

Chelsea are prepared to pay £40m to sign Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o should Didier Drogba leave Stamford Bridge. (Sunday Express)

Meanwhile, Drogba has told Ivory Coast team-mate Yaya Toure he wants to join Barcelona, AC Milan or Real Madrid. (Mail on Sunday)
I think that Didier is off at the end of the season mind. There are just too many rumours for it not to be true. Ever since Jose upped and left, Drogba has been angling for a move. Not sure about Eto'o to replace him though. If he did come, it would smack of an Abramovich transfer, rather than an Avram Grant one.

Newcastle and Manchester United are battling it out for the signature of Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov. (Mirror on Sunday)

And the two teams could do an £18m deal that would see midfielder Michael Carrick leave Old Trafford for St James' Park. (Daily Star Sunday)
Berbatov's agent said about a month ago, that he wanted out, in favour of a team who had ambitions that matched his and a chance of winning silverware and getting champions league football. Could someone please tell me just how Newcastle fit that bill?

And fucking hell, if they come in and buy Michael Carrick for anywhere near £18m - they are more deluded than I had ever dared to believe. I would have Sissoko, Albelda or Poulson over him any day. Fuck, you could probably have all 3 for the money they are quoting JUST for Carrick there.

Manchester City and Aston Villa are interested in Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista, the Brazilian who played on loan at Arsenal. (News of the World)

Liverpool's unsettled midfielder Momo Sissoko is wanted by Monaco and Inter Milan. (News of the World)
I do wish Momo would get a move on and move!

The rest of them, I cant really be arsed with.

Chelsea's Peruvian centre-forward Claudio Pizarro is a target for Italian side Lazio. (News of the World)

Everton want Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing but face competition from Tottenham. (News of the World)

And Toffees boss David Moyes may also move for Chelsea's Steve Sidwell, if the midfielder will consider a pay cut. (News of the World)

West Ham and Derby are looking at 20-year-old Ipswich midfielder Danny Haynes. (News of the World)

Crystal Palace are lining up a £1m bid for Charlton striker Izale McLeod. (News of the World)

Coventry and Plymouth are interested in signing Sheffield United's £1.25m-rated striker Jon Stead. (News of the World)

Peterborough have told Charlton to keep away from their 23-goal striker Aaron McLean. (News of the World)

Leicester and Coventry will be alerted to the fact Derby want to sell defender Darren Moore. (News of the World)

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all interested in 15-year-old Brazilian prodigy Neymar. (News of the World)

West Ham and Fulham want to sign Hertha Berlin striker Marko Pantelic. (News of the World)

Birmingham are set to make a £2.5m bid for Manchester City forward Georgios Samaras. (News of the World)

Portsmouth are planning to swoop for Real Mallorca's £5m-rated striker Daniel Guiza. (News of the World)

Newcastle want Portsmouth centre-back Sol Campbell and Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar. (Sunday Express)

Tottenham are ready to make a third approach for Rangers full-back Alan Hutton. (Sunday Mail)

Celtic will launch a bid to take Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas on loan for the rest of the season. (Sunday Mail)

Celtic also aim to tie up a £1m deal for American international goalkeeper Brad Guzman. (News of the World)

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

There is not much going in Rumour Mill land but I though I would post this beaut from BBC's Sunday version
Wes Brown is holding out for £80,000 per week after turning down a £55,000 offer from Man Utd. (News of the World)
I am now away for a lie down

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

The saddest thing is that he will get it. Free transfer in the summer and some mug of a club will pay it to him.

Thats why there's no point in having a 39th game in my opinion, all it would do is allow players and agents to ramp up their wage demands even more. The only people that benefit from more money in football are the players themselves.

Yep and he knows it.

Hopefully he will go on to be as successful and well loved as Alan Smith and Nicky Butt up here.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Another wee bit of Toon mentalness

Striker Obafemi Martins has said he is close to signing a new five-year contract, worth £26m, at Newcastle. (The Sun)
I can understand the need to give him a £100k a week contract for the next 5 years because he has done soooo well in his time there already............

Inter Milan have shown an interest in Alexander Hleb and reports claim the midfielder might be leaving Arsenal, why leave Arsenal for Inter, wouldnt think Inter are a better equip club for Champions league success after Liverpool didnt have alot of problem dispatching them and even in their own league are in the process of letting a big points lead slip to Roma who looked very ordinary in the champs league.Unless there has been a fall out between player and club.

According to today's Marca, Spurs are apparently in talks with Barcelona over signing Eto'o. They say Barcelona are prepared to negotiate too, although they reckon they'll not take less than 35m euros.

Been reading and hearing about this the past week but i just cannot see it happening.

This is an Etoo who is around 28 yrs old, Not a player at the end of his career so why he would choose Spurs is beyond me.

Load of rubbish IMO. He is a first team regular at Barca, exchange that for White Hart Lane? Nah can't see it happening.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

With Rijkaard on his way now and Barcelona trophyless for the second year running, they'll be looking to rebuild, and Eto'o leaving wouldn't be a big surprise at all. He's already threatened to leave if they don't win a trophy next season. Spurs would be a surprise move though, not sure what could convince him they're the club to win him trophies
