Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

6 months out wouldnt be good for Owen as if Defoe continues the sort of start he has made for Spurs this season he will start to worry.

If Owen stayed at Madrid with limited matches, do you think Sven would pick Defoe if Defoe scored 25+ goals this season?

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Kiko - I do.

I think Defoe will get 13-15 in the Prem this year and a handfull in the Cups. He is over rated. When I see Rooney, I see pure neanderthol genius. I just dont rate Defoe in the same class as either Owen or Rooney, he is still to make his mark and define himself as a top player in my opinion.

I think in the end, Rafa may give up the goose. He will not be held to ransom by Real over Owen. They are taking the mick and I think Rafa will look elsewhere, if at all.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Every Newcastle fcuk up surely moves them further and further away from getting Owen? Another loss tonight, will Owen want to play in a relegation battle? Newcastle need more than Michael Owen to sort themselves out.

Yeah thats true.

To be fair to Ameobi and Shearer. They aren't having enough chances created for them by their midfielders etc.

Newcastle really are lacking any attacking prowess.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Newcastle need some width, they are really missing Robert...he was always up there with the most assists in the division. Also they were really missing Dyer tonight who can unlock the best defences. But i do agree about Owen, he is never coming...Freddy shepherd has only made the bid to please the newcastle fans as he did last year with Rooney!

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Emre and Dyer will improve Newcastle no end. However, will Mr Souness be there to see when they return to the squad? This Sunday will no doubt see them getting tonked by Manchester United. 1 point from a possible 12 will surely lead to a protest. A Sunday game with no work the next day, the fans will be pissed and protesting outside Shearer's bar afterwards....sad but true.

Shearer hasnt scored in the Premiership for 7 months, Ameobi is a white elephant I am afraid - he simply isnt Premiership class. Sadly, they are the best they have at the moment and I cant see that situation improving any time soon.

Shola Ameobi is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, theres no doubt thats he is one of the worst strikers in the premiership...his target is to make the world cup squad, what a joke! Michael Chopra would do a better job!

I can see Souness still in charge as i think he is shagging Freddy shepherd! lol...but to be honest he has made some good signings in Boumsong, Parker and Emre!

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Jesus - he has made decent signings but they havent all played on the pitch together yet. Souness said Newcastle are 2 or 3 players off being a good side and I wouldnt disagree with that. Given a wide man, a centre back and a defender they would be on a par with teams in the 4th-7th place range.

The reason Newcastle are in a mess is because they sacked a manager, mid september last season. The fans never learn do they? It seems they are due once again to sack a manager when the season hasnt yet started. Newcastle fans are morons. The most loyal in the country they say. Bollocks I say.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Newcastle fans are just desperate for success as they havent had it in so long. You cant say that the fans are not loyal as they fill the stadium week in week out even when they are watching rubbish. Even in the mickey mouse league cup they will probably have the highest attendances.

I dont think they need a centre back, Boumsong and Taylor have been doing well and they also have Bramble who did well last season and Moore. Souness actually said they can challenge the big 3 with a few new players, i doubt that!

SHOLA: I CAN BE NEW SHEARER

"SHOLA AMEOBI has tried to put a smile back on supporters' faces - by insisting he can hit the 20-goal mark this season. The Newcastle striker has publicly declared that he can solve the club's goalscoring problems - and save manager Graeme Souness a fortune in the transfer market."

I have just spat out my drink with laughter!

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Ameobi is not good enough for the EPL, end of story.

Souness reckons he needs 2 or 3 players, I still think he needs the exact same number of players as he did at the start of the transfer window - and has done nothing to address the problems. He needs at least 2 strikers, 3 preferably to keep Ameobi away from the pitch. He needs a couple of wide players, genuine wide players, not Milners or Dyers or anyone else he wants to play out of position. He needs cover for both full back positions, Robbie Elliot is not an option. The only place he seems to have covered now is central defence with the signing of Craig Moore and even thats questionable.

Shearer and who ever will never get the service until they sign some genuine width. Central midfield was the one place not lacking and yet his only 2 main signings have been in this position.

I am sure there is quotes from the early part of the summer from Souness saying he is looking to bring in 7 or 8 players - well where are they? Considering Bellamy, Kluivert, Ambrose, Robert, Hughes, O'Brien and Butt have all left the club then he is actually worse of player number wise than he was at the start of the summer.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Newcastle have agreed a £9.5m fee with Deportivo La Coruna for striker Albert Luque, who will undergo a medical at St James' Park on Friday.

The 27-year-old is expected to then sign a five-year Magpies contract.

Will this signing be to late for Souness ? The last three managers have all been sacked before the end of August.
Just checked the date , he should be ok , i work with several newcastle fans
and they always say they wont have a decent team till Shepard and Shearer bugger off

The talk of the Toon is that they are gonna get Dirk Kite (cant spell his name and I am not gonna try) from Feyenoord. Cant see where the money from this is gonna come from, 2 big name strikers - thats one hell of an investment isnt it!! They should be so Luque!

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Luque would be a pretty fabolous signing and a lot better than anything i expected from them. I know they have been linked with Owen, Anelka etc but ive always just thought this was in the same light as Rooney last season and was aimed to get the fans hopes up.

I expected someone along the lines of a Vassel so i was very surprised by Luque who has been arguably Deportivo's best player in the last few years. Not a prolific goalscorer though so they still need to get that sorted out.

Unsure of Kuyt at the minute. He is a goalscorer and has been doing the business for Heereenveen but will he be able to adapt to the step up in quality of leagues??

He has also forced his way into the National side although im not sure of how he has done thus far.
