Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
Man Utd swoop for Anderson & Nani
| Manchester United have agreed "in principle" deals to sign Anderson from FC Porto and Nani from Sporting Lisbon.
The Premiership champions are set to make 19-year-old Brazilian Anderson and 20-year-old Portuguese winger Nani their first signings of the summer.
"Terms are agreed with both players and an announcement will take place once a medical and other procedures are done," said a statement on United's website. United are also on the brink of signing Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich.

Has the Hargreaves deal not already gone through then? I thought it was already completed.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
I thought so RC, I am sure Beckenbauer confirmed it last week. TBH I would rather buy Scott Parker and keep circa £10m in the bank if I were United.

Arsenal are ready to let Thierry Henry leave the club, with Barcelona set to offer £17m, plus forward Samuel Eto'o, for the France striker. (Daily Star)

That would be a cracking deal for Arsenal IMO. Henry is a truly world class player, an absolute genius. However if a club is prepared to offer that deal for an ageing player, that has had an injury ravaged year - they have to take it.
Wenger has never had a problem selling the club's star players before and being tough (Overmars, Petit, Anelka for example) and I dont imagine he will bottle this one.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
17m + Eto'o for Henry? I'd be absolutely amazed if Barcelona were stupid enough to offer that. I don't think Henry's worth anywhere near that much more than Eto'o. At most I'd say an extra 5m on top, but nowhere near 17.

He's not a defender is he? Or has he switched positions and is now playing in defence? Or are The Sun talking shite?

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
With Ronaldinho supposedly having one eye on AC Milan, Barcelona are indeed insane if they're also considering getting rid of Eto'o.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
I thought Lee Hendrie was a midfielder - he certainly played there for Stoke this season.

I thought Lee Hendrie was older than that. He's been around for ages and seems to have done very little over the last few years

It is complete rc. Bayern sort some contract details out and met ManU Managers to fix the money and so on. But Hargreaves is home again.
I don´t know why ManU paid so much for him.He doesn´t convince me.
But ManU should know what they do...

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
Looks like the Hargreaves deal is done. Due to join Man U on July 1st:
Quote:
Owen Hargreaves will join Manchester United on July 1.
The Old Trafford club have confirmed a deal has been completed with Bayern Munich for the England international and with personal terms agreed and a medical passed, all that is required now is for the 25-year-old to officially sign what is expected to be a five-year contract.
Hargreaves will do that when he returns from a family holiday in his native Canada at the end of next month, with the move formally taking effect on July 1.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Owen Hargreaves," said the statement.
"The player has also agreed terms with the club and passed his medical.
"Owen will formally sign his contract with Manchester United when he returns from his holiday at the end of June and will join on July 1, 2007."
The announcement ends a year-long pursuit of the Calgary-born star by Sir Alex Ferguson and comes less than 24 hours after United revealed they had agreed transfers in principle for Anderson and Nani from Porto and Sporting Lisbon respectively.
Ferguson made a concerted effort to bring Hargreaves to Old Trafford after the World Cup, in which the midfielder turned out to be one of England's few success stories.
Hargreaves left no-one in any doubt he wanted to make the move, only for Bayern to block the deal fearing supporter unrest after losing Michael Ballack to Chelsea.
Ferguson was hopeful of resurrecting the deal in January but those plans were scuppered when Hargreaves - who has family which hails from Bolton - broke his leg on club duty against Arminia Bielefeld in September.
However, there was little doubt the United boss was determined to push the transfer through once the season was over and Bayern's failure to qualify for next year's Champions League only made it more certain Hargreaves would end up at Old Trafford.
Although no fee has been mentioned, it is thought to be around the £17million mark.
With the sums initially paid out for Anderson and Nani taken into account, Ferguson has already spent £40million, with more to come as he continues the search for a central striker

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
Here's another story from today, apparently Hyypia stays at Anfield.
I thought he was absolutely nailed on to leave Liverpool this summer. Wigan, Newcastle and Besiktas were all said to be interested but apparently Sami is due to pen a new contract at Anfield.
He's worth keeping as long as we are honest with him and his expectations are realistic, ie: that he will be 4th choice defender and will play probably no more than 25 games next year.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
Hendries contract is up on friday I believe. He is younger than people think but he should also have done better than he has. Its a shame but we're not sorry to see him go as he only ever had a good season in his last one each contract. A good championship player but, with his disciplinary problems, not worth it in the prem....mind you he is free I suppose
