Sorry AFU, didn't mean you travelling for the whole week, just meant that if you are flexible about departure and coming home dates ie Saturday onwards out, up to Sunday coming back, then there are certainly plenty of options for you. You could have Monday to Friday in Athens no probs.

Malev are another (Hungarian) budget option into Athens via Budapest.

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

Crowie - I was saying that in an ideal world I would fly straight there and straight back from Newcastle. But im not prepared to pay the £500 or so with BA to do that when I can go on the orient express and have an adventure accross Europe for half that fee.

Im gonna check those airlines out now Crowie.

Cheers

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

This place is my sounding board for all the options I have: Im currently looking at flying via Prague with SkyEurope airlines

FLYING OUT - 22 May 07 Departs Arrives
NE 2314 Prague > Athens 23:50 3:30

FLYING BACK - 25 May 07 Departs Arrives
NE 2315 Athens > Prague 4:10 6:00

I would then need to get connections from any UK airport to Prague. Looking very very very cheap though at the moment, compared to my other options.

EDIT: £148 for the return to Athens from Prague

EDIT: £100 for return flights - Newcastle to Prague

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

Glasgow Prestwick to Milan Bergamo Sat 19th May
Milan Malpensa to Athens Sun 20th May
Athens to Milan Malpensa Fri 25th May
Milan Bergamo to Prestwick Sat 26th May

£144 all in, incl taxes

Prestwick not a million miles from Newcastle as its Ayrshire, not actually Glasgow, probably about 200 miles if your willing to drive it.

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

In fact scrub that AFU.

Newcastle to Milan Bergamo with Ryanair, Sat to Sat is coming in at £22 ALL IN at the moment, incl all taxes. Flights are 1p each!

Then Easyjet Milan Malpensa on to Athens, Sunday to Friday, £95 return incl taxes.

Therefore Newcastle to Athens for £117 all in!

I know

If you do book up and head across then I can give you a couple of pointers on Milan as I have been a couple of times now. The Ryanair flights go to Bergamo, 1 hour by bus from Milan. Its a late arrival but its basically a budget airport and there are buses there waiting for all flight arrivals.

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

Cheers Crow. I have found another way of doing it - monday to friday

Going to Milan with Ryanair and then from Milan to Athens with Aegean air for 148 EURO all in, return.

I might opt for the shorter trip. Hours of excitement this. Apolgogies to my boss for doing no work today

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

Just seen another decent deal here....

Go for a weeks holiday in Kos for around £300 and get a flight accross to athens at 7am on the day of the final, flying back at 5am the next morning. 88 EURO with Aegean airlines. That seems like the one to go for in my opinion, rather than all this flying via Mongolia or taking the trans-siberian express via Redditch and Wisconsin..... Nice week away in the sun and watch the match. Get in!!

Me and my dad will both have 6 credits for the final (3 group games, last 16, 1/4 and 1/2) so should be ok for a ticket. BUT my dad doesnt think he fancies going. What a dick.....

Re: Champions League Final Tickets

I think I am going to work out the most obscure ways of doing this journey and put it to the public vote. I'll do whatever people suggest!

Looking at other routes at the moment - via Munich (and Germany in general) is working out expensive. Via Warsaw works out about £130 for the leg to Athens which isnt that bad. Via Sofia works out about 104 EUR for the Sofia to Athens leg - bet its dirt cheap to stay in Sofia too, wherever that is....

Also looking at staying in corfu for a week and hopping over for the game - again with Aegean Airlines - working out about 135 EUR for the hop over for the day.
