Manchester City look set to be the next Premiership club to be the subject of a takeover after revealing they have opened talks with investors.
Chairman John Wardle said at City's annual general meeting: "We are currently in talks with an investor that may lead to potential investment."

with our luck the anonymous investor will be Paul Ross

But is not yet known whether that investment will come from a foreign source, as it has in the shape of US tycoon Randy Lerner at Villa and Icelandic businessman Eggert Magnusson at West Ham.

I can even remember the days when City weren't very good

I actually bet one of my City-supporting housemates at uni that by the time we finished uni Gills would be in at least the same division as Man City. This was in 1995, with Man City in the Premier (I think), and Gills in what's now League 2. We bloody did as well, and he never paid up . Now they're back in the Premier and about to be loaded, and we're heading back where we came from

All this investment talk and new ground talk is annoying for Everton fans, it never actually happens. Just have to cultivate another Rooney and live off that for a couple of seasons

I'm holding by breath as i've heard takeover bids numerous times at City but who knows as long as it aint another Franny Lee and his bog rolls then it can't be all to bad.

It'll be ok if it was somebody like Bill Gates or similar but knowing City it will be somebody like greggs.

I've actually been thinking £70 million might be a bit on the cheap side, then thought well the stadium isnt ours and couldent work out how we have 70 mill worth of players and so somebody might be getting ripped, Keema's gonna give be nightmares too metioning PR buying the club but on second thoughts if that happened @ least we could all have a whip round and buy Leeds for 50 notes.
