The End For Penalties?

Quote:
Fifa president Sepp Blatter says future World Cup finals should not be decided by penalty shoot-outs.
Italy beat France in the 2006 final on penalties and Blatter hinted changes may be made in South Africa in 2010.

He said: "When it comes to the World Cup final it is passion, and when it goes to extra time it is a drama.

"But when it comes to penalty kicks it is a tragedy. Football is a team sport and penalties is not a team, it is the individual."

He said a replay or gradually deducting players in extra time would be a better solution.
Whats everyones thoughts on this?

Have to say i quite like penaltyshoot outs and the tension etc is great (unless your teams involved).

Also adds a bit of excitement to a game which could be 0-0 nd been dull as hell.

Saying that i quite like the idea of deducting players every 10 mins or so although the ones kept on the pitch wont be too happy about that as they will be completely fucked by then.

Would def be dissapointed to see pens removed.

Re: The End For Penalties?

Footballs an entertainment, & penalties are, for the neutrals, entertaining.

I really wish Blatter would stop fcuking about with the game, as he is the ultimate 'Tinkerman'

Re: The End For Penalties?

This arguement always reminds me of that Budweiser advert with the whole added time multiball concept, that would rock

I would love to see that at least tried in an exhibition match, we could have split screen action on both balls.

To be honest I'm a fan of penalty shoot-outs, mainly because the English are crap at them though
