Panorama and the World Cup bid 2018

Did anybody catch it? I meant to watch it but had to go out as its one of the Niece's birthdays today.

I've been reading all week how this episode may scupper our world cup bid so wanted to see just how bad it was, apparently it was broadcast in the public interest but if this program makes the difference between us winning or not winning the bid I beg to differ.

I've just read this on the BBC website and I'm still none the wiser as to will it have an effect or not.

Just watching it now , pretty sure it was all dragged up in 2007 , seems old news to me although i have a bit more to watch , anyway , really couldn't give a f**k if we get the WC ...

I read the book partially based around these events last year. Just by reading that you get to know the bad eggs at FIFA. All that was new was a couple of sheets of paper that cemented what was written in the book in 2001. It shows the kickbacks and bribes to FIFA executives from a sports marketing firm.

In the book however, you also get to know how dodgy Blatter is. He was going around promising the world cup in Africa regardless of any selection process. Germany jumped in ahead of them in the end, thus making the last World Cup a certainty for South Africa.

You also learn about Jack Warner's ticket scam. He's not the only one. He's also embezzled money from his own regions football development.

They all get away with it because the mothership is in secretive Switzerland.

Apparently they will only act if made aware of it through official channels, when asked what these channels were, Blatter replied that he didn't know

I agree with Winrew, a long as there is a world cup I don't give a flying fuck where it's held. in fact, Russian time will be pretty good for us TV viewers won't it?

I think we should be more concerned about the FA. The next story is going to be that they are on their way to becoming bankrupt.

I just hate the corruption involved with the process. It's about time FIFA and Blatter's boys got their comeuppance after years of loading their pockets by ripping off football to the tune of billions of pounds.

Miserable bastards , having the WC would be great and a chance for thousands who couldn't otherwise afford to travel to go and watch it live and soak up the atmosphere, I thought we did a great job at Euro96 and it was good to mingle with the foreign fans, I remember when Italy were playing at Old Trafford, I was coming out of a job in Altrincham and stumbled across about 5 car loads of Italians who were lost.
They asked did i know the way to OT, I said follow me as i was going that way and they gave me an Italian flag to hang from my car so they could easily follow me in case we got split up.
There I was leading an Italian convoy to OT, Iti flag flying and enjoying the banter on the way every time we stopped in traffic.

The Atmosphere was superb with no animosity what so ever, bring the good times back i say.

I reckon the powers that be have allready made their minds up before the Panorama program was aired, I just hope we get a fair crack of the whip.
