Slick, I had a look at the betting this morning, England were favourites at 8/13 (StanJames), I think to be honest it was generally expected that England would get it. Its surprising that Russia got it, as The Ukraine who are basically the same breed of disorganised and incompotent Russians have struggled to get their stadiums finished and up to the standard required for Euro 2012.

The price for England was ridiculous. They went from something like 3/1 third favourite to 1/2 driven totally by the mixed cocktail of smoke, mirrors, blind optimism and total bollocks that is otherwise known as Sky television.

What a great big pile of shite. Russia have been favourites for months and there was a reason for that. The reason was that they were most likely to win. Nothing very difficult to understand there. Then, with two or three days to go, Sky (with nothing of interest to fill their sports news due to the snow - other than the cival war in Birmingham) fill their air time with constant droning about England's world cup bid.

So now everyone is amazed that England didn't get it. I find that difficult to comprehend, given that we weren't going to get it this time last week and nobody seemed overly shocked at the prospect.

What's changed in that week?

Fuck all. Nothing. The betting has been changed by the sheer volume of mindless retards who are incapable of putting forward a thought of their own who have followed the hype of sky and (deservedly) lost their money.

Ditto what ODM says, i thought we may have had a chance due to other countries not having the infrastructure in place we have at the moment , and when Putin didn't go to Zurich I thought 'hey up they don't want the bloody thing' probably for financial reasons, we may be in with a shout here.

But alas it was not to be, Russia were always my favourites though as its just to big a country for Fifa not to ignore as they love tapping into prospective gold mines, if you want a bet for the future , put your cash on China hosting the next Asian WC, Fifa won't be able to resist the lure of the yuan.

I agree with what OD says i layed England @ Evens on Betfair people over there even admitted to jumping on them as Cameron wouldnt turn up for no reason and they wanted to see it here, i mean wtf if baffles me how people who do bets for those reasons make or attempt to make money
