Re: Michael Owen - what next?

I think when Owen first burst on to the scene his biggest assists were his pace and his goals to shots ratio from inside the penalty area, his pace must of gone a bit now and maybe a touch of sharpness too but i can still see a good ratio in this team.

This is a good move for Owen, Rooney, Man Utd and England imo.

Really? Have Owen and Rooney ever really clicked as a partnership? I think they are a weak pairing to be fair, maybe Mickey and Berba will pair up, who knows.

Re: Michael Owen - what next?

I disagree he had some glorious chances throughout the season which should have resulted in wins for newcastle which would have kept them in the premiership. Yes newcastle was terribly managed from the bottom right up but with a player of his calibre he should have scored more goals for them. He was terrible last season. May be better in a better team but if utd wants to win a champions league again you could hardly call it a great move. fergie may be accepting theres no other great strikers about who want to go to old trafford

Confidence will be key too though. I don't think someone with his record has suddenly become a shit finisher.

I think it's a realistic transfer. He needs a finisher at a reasonable price and he has achieved that with the signing oof Owen.

However, if you look at their squad, its impossible to deny that they are weaker now than last year.

Tevez and Ronaldo out - replaced by Valencia and Michael Owen. Good news for Liverpool and Chelsea.

Put Rooneys face in there and it would be a ringer for him.
