Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Dont they have debts of £1.5m? So they'd have to sell 37500 just to clear the debt. Thats no even including money for future transfers and extra cash to keep the club funded for a 12month period which would be prudent.
Basically, they're in the shit and this is not going to bail them out. |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Well thanks for cheering up all the potential investors AFU
![]() If it helps helps Man U are a billion pound in debt but they arent doing so bad, its on a different scale i know but Stirling have been around for as long as i can remember and if this thread can help them out a bit then why not, if they get enough investors and people genuinely involved in the club then good on them as in the long term it can only have a posiitive effect and hopefully their stock will rise, Barcelona have been ran this way for yrs. |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Absolutely agree mate. However the population of Stirling is 60'000 - the catalan "nation" carries slightly more weight.
There are probably more people down tescos in stirling on a saturday arvo than at the footy match... |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
it doesnt matter if the population of Stirling was 60 milliion, what matters is how many people take an interest in the club.
the club is on its knees and if by selling the club off it atracts buyers or investors from outside the town good on them, it shows they arent going to go down without a fight. I'm more afraid that Sterling could become a sign of things to come in Scottish football and more sides begin to fold, for yrs Scotland has supplied us with some great footballers , probably the best weve ever had in the yrs i've been around , too many to mention in fact so i won't start but Liverpool has had more than its fair share afu. keeping clubs like Stirling afloat gathers local interest and gets the local kids involved , for all the money in the English game at the moment we have to step back now and again and have a look at whats good for the future of the game, Killing off Scottish football won't benefit anybody, I'm not saying we are the cause of it but ignoring what used to be decent feeder clubs for imported cheaper options that don't have that british steelness about them is having an effect on the game , take this weeks Champions league for example with all the diving and cheating, that wouldent have happened 15 yrs or so ago, you got beat on merit full stop, what happened on Wendesay would have Busby, Shankley Paisley, Cloughie and Fagin turning in their graves. |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Guys, thanks for bringing this up to people's attention as we really need as many people to sign up to this as possible for our wee club to be saved.
all_funkt_up - You are correct in saying we are almost £1.5m in debt, but £1.3m is owed to the chairman. He has a presonal loan of about £900k and a bank overdraft secured to his assets of £400k. We have been in talks and know how much he wants (we cant release this figure due to confidentality, but we are hoping to raise enough to pay off the other debts as well). The chairman knows he will need to write off a huge chunk of his debt to the club. We only need the money raised to buy the club as we have a business plan in place to run the club debt free and to make the club a community club again- something thats not happened in the last 30 years. We have a big population in Stirling and we want to get them interested in their local team again. Anyway, thanks to anyone who has signed up as every membership really does count if we are to survive. We have added a donation button incase anyone wants to contribute, but cant afford £40. |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Good luck guys, although Im a southerner I can appreciate the problems you must have with finances considering the average gates up there..Darlington have shown that lower league clubs are far from immune to it down here, making clubs fan base owned seems to be the way forward for most clubs imo, clubs that are in large amounts of debt are usually down to chairman who couldn't run a sweet shop (Darlington, Luton, err..Gills!), i'll happily donate £20 to your campaign..in fact to pay for it, i'll give up drinking this week! There you are a potential new advertising point..'save your liver, save a club!', what you reckon Komp? Could it tempt you?

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
My livers will be no good to anyone HastGill. Ive got an idea though i could sell one to a poor weee girl thats in hospital and the money raised i'll give to Stirling. Infact if i get 51% of it can i pick the team Mif?
More here Buy Stirling Albion FC - Homepage Im sorry Mif but you guys cost me a hell of a lot more than £40 when you went to Hampden and couldnt take your chances to beat Queen's Park that day. Also not being able to go 2 up at Raith cost me dear. I reckon that YOU should be sending ME some money ![]() |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Ok mate, I'll do a deal.
Stick a tenner on the Binos tonight and if we dont win, I will buy and post you a share. If you win, you donate half the winnings? Queens Park will likely field an under 19 team against the Binos and we are going to field a strong team. Lets say the odds should be slashed for this for a reason!! They have a play off game on Wed night HastGill1- £20 is fantastic mate and greatly appreciated. |

Re: Buy Stirling Albion FC
Theyve changed it to thursday Mif. Truth be told mate im finding the odds on stirling too restrictive today (4/9) that and im pretty skint (i'm on, or was, on the dole) some folks that have access to some eastern european bookmakers are getting about evens on you guys tonight mind Mif
http://thedailypunt.com/forum/britis...-13th-may.html If i get a nice win at the.....hold on a sec Mif. I was just saying nasty things about stirling on the weekend football thread from last weekend. I can't help save Stirling Albion. I hope that you get your targets etc Mif as maybe then i will feel a little better about them. |
