Dowie/Palace Madness

Quote:
Crystal Palace have taken legal action against former boss Iain Dowie, who has been named as Charlton's new manager.

Palace chairman Simon Jordan confirmed the club has served Dowie with a writ for "fraudulent statements about his reasons for leaving the club".

Dowie left the Palace job he had held since 2003 on 22 May and Jordan said: "He told me he wanted to go back to the north to be with his family.

"My club waived compensation because he said he wanted to return to the north." Dowie had a £1m compensation clause in his contract which meant if he left for another club they would have to pay Palace £1m.
Anyone see the press conference with Dowie?

Crazy, representitive for Palace showed up where Dowie was unveiled for Chartlon with all the legal papers etc.

Must say i do believe Dowie is in the wrong here. He should've been straight up instead of digging himself a hole by saying he wanted to move back north to be with his family.

Jordan, the Palace chairman always struck me as a guy that doesn't fuck around and he is proving it here.

Be interesting to see how this develops.

Did the same sort of thing with Steve Bruce if I remember when he left Palace to join Birmingham

Re: Dowie/Palace Madness

Bloody disgrace to be honest

Palace will probably end up with a payment from Charlton , to much of this sort of thing in football , why not say he wanted to go to a bigger club ?

Dowie is a lying scumbag and I'm well pleased to see him being pursued through the courts.

Shame that other liar Redknapp wasn't done too.

Simon Jordan is a man of humungous personal integrity and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him.

People dislike Jordan, but he says what he thinks and he is successful, doesn't mess around. Dowie has acted disgracefully here.

Re: Dowie/Palace Madness

Well it seems Jordan is mad at losing out on a million quid he'd have got if Charlton had poached him whilst he was still manager.
Jordan contends that Dowie said he wanted to go ooop north however Dowie denies ever saying that.
There's bad blood too as Charlton were seen to celebrate overenthusiastically last year when they sent Palace down.
It's a messy mess

Re: Dowie/Palace Madness

Ditto what Keema says, Jordan has every right to be mad and i thought Dowie would be more of a man to lay down his true intentions rather than stringing folk along.

I can only summise Dowie tried to appease Jordan with a couple of porkies as he didnt have the balls to tell him outright but i'm flummaxed as to how he thought he would get away with it.
